 Book Beginnings

The road is cold and rough against my left cheek – the white reflection of the moon ripples in the pool of blood between me and Dad.

Friday 56

(56% on Kindle)

“He’s a criminal. A fuckin’ drug lord.”

My eyes flick open, but I don’t move.
Mick swallows. “He’s hiding behind an alias since the cops almost caught him in the middle of a fucked-up deal. I guess now I know where he is.” Mick laughs. “He used to always say that no one ever thinks to look in their own backyard. Guess I’m as big a fuckwit as everyone else.”

SYNOPSIS

“Edgy, pacy, and chillingly real. A book you’ll sink your teeth into and never forget.” JJ Marsh, author of The Beatrice Stubbs series

Sonia yearns for sharp objects and blood. But now that she’s rehabilitating herself as a “normal” mother and mathematics teacher, it’s time to stop dreaming about slicing people’s throats.

While being the wife of Melbourne’s leading drug lord and simultaneously dating his best mate is not ideal, she’s determined to make it work.

It does work. Until Mia, her lover’s daughter, starts exchanging saliva with her son, Mick. They plan to commit a crime behind Sonia’s back. It isn’t long before she finds out and gets involved to protect them.

But is protecting the kids really Sonia’s motive?

Note: This story is told from multiple perspectives.

    • You are so right. But, is it her or…..I don’t know. I haven’t started it yet. Just finished Killer Romances and I need to give my eyes a rest. 16 days of death and destruction – YEAH!

  1. Definitely curious about this one! I’ll definitely be on the lookout for reviews on this. It sounds like it could be a great thriller! It doesn’t sound like Sonia does anything the easy way though!

    • I think you may be right, Katherine. Sometimes people make their lives difficult all on their own. 🙂

  2. That cover is to die for (maybe the wrong word choice given the genre? LOL), and the first line of that snippet is priceless! Talk about hitting the nail on the head at the 56% mark. I hadn’t even really thought about Halloween until now, but I think this book will definitely get me in the mood.

    • Yeah, I loved how that worked out. It’s like an omen or something. LOL I agree about the cover. It had me from the getgo.

  3. I don’t think I can manage this. 🙂 I’m very bad with scary!

PS. I have 3 giveaways on the blog right now — two books (US/Can) and a new Blogger Template (lots of pretty choices). I hope you come by and check those out!

    • The cover is what caught my eye and I am curious about it. Part of the reason I picked it up was to review it in October. Seemed appropriate. Nice to see you, Cheryl.
