He would have his Revenge – Shadow of Vengeance by Kristine Mason with Kobo Giveaway

Shadow of Vengeance by Kristine Mason
.
This is the third book of The CORE Shadow Trilogy.

Each book is about a different couple connected to The Core (Criminal Observance Resolution Evidence).

They can stand alone, but the other characters do often make an appearance in each book.

Shadow of Danger – Eden and Hudson   *   Shadow of Perception – Celeste and John.

And last, but most assuredly not least, Shadow of Vengeance –  Rachel and Owen.

Rachel saw the call was coming from Sean’s phone. She had a feeling something might be wrong.

Sherriff Jake Tyler told her Sean, her brother, had been beaten and was at the Dixon Medical Center.

She had no idea of the mystery surrounding hazing at Wexman University.

Until she heard about Josh.

Welcome to hell week. You have seven days to find him.

Shadow of Vengeance reads like a Criminal Minds TV episode. Revenge can be a powerful motivator and HE is driven to have his. The crimes are brutal and vicious.

Revenge is an ice-cold mistress.

Shadow of Vengeance is also a romance story. The sexual innuendo is so hot, it could be a Castle TV episode. Will they end up together? What do you think?

Once I open the pages and begin reading one of Kristine Mason’s books, I find them almost impossible to put down.

I love how she builds plots within plots, messing up my plans to figure out what will happen by throwing in a twist here and there. I race through the pages, desperate to find out what is going to happen. I tell myself to slow down or I will run out of book, but I cannot stop.

I met Lois and her friend and my heart broke for them.

Kristine writes about Owen thinking about Jake and Rachel. I couldn’t help but laugh. Poor Owen. LOL Still can’t help but laugh. Sometimes we don’t see what is right in front of us.

At first I thought that Kristine was repeating their lovey dovey stuff too often. THEN, I thought about my own experiences. Isn’t that what real love is about? You cannot quit thinking about the one you love, even over a dead body, The thought of gently caressing…..well, you know where that’s going.

The personal problems Rachel and Owen encounter while working together shows how difficult life can be when you shit where you work.

Kristine’s ability to write a fantastic novel never ceases to amaze me. Her plots read like a Criminal Minds episode – realistic, tragic and terrifying events. I have no doubt that Kristine will produce another masterpiece that I will be dying to pick up.

Along with that feeling, comes the letdown. Will there be more from The Core? I want to read more Shadow’s – ?, or ?, or whatever. Well, Kristine. What is next?

Love this:    “Sometimes life’s a bitch, which is why I tend to be one.”

“This is Wolverine territory. Bill’s the only fool I know that likes those damned Buckeyes.”

Go Blue.

Shadow of Vengeance takes place in Michigan and that is Wolverine country. I am BLUE.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

shadowofperceptionauthorI didn’t pick up my first romance novel until I was in my late twenties. Immediately hooked, I read a bazillion books before deciding to write one of my own. After the birth of my first son I needed something to keep my mind from turning to mush, and Sesame Street wasn’t cutting it. While that first book will never see the light of day, something good had come from writing it. I realized my passion, and had found a career that I love.

When I’m not writing contemporary romances and dark, romantic suspense novels (or reading them!) I’m chasing after my four kids and two neurotic dogs.

  1. Go Blue!!! I love that it takes place in our wolverine territory! Great review. I have to get started on the second book and catch up with this series.

    • Wolverines!! I think they can be read in any order, but it is worth it to read them all. I love Kristine’s writing and subject matter. Murder, mystery and thrills galore. ^_^

      • Since we’ve been iced in, I’m going back through my notes and drafting a bunch of reviews. Working on Shadow of Danger now. This weather is good and bad. Getting work done but so sick of the cold and it’s finally killed almost every plant in my gardens!

        • We finally gave up trying to protect them. Even the covered ones got iced up, so whatever happens, happens. ^_^ We were out taking pics and are working on a winter wonderland in sunny Florida post. LOL

    • LOL! What’s funny is that I went to Ohio State and am a total Buckeye fan. My husband is crazy fanatical when it comes to OSU. We’re not allowed to wear any blue and gold in our house!!

  2. I love Criminal Minds in all its creepy glory. They have some plot lines that are real doozies! A book along the same lines would be fabulous!

    • Oh man, do I ever agree with you. I am watching Criminal Minds right now, it’s reruns are on in the mornings. I flip a coin between Criminal Minds and Supernatural. LOL Either way, one of them always gets my heart pumping. I think Kristine should submit her novels to them for consideration. Would make a great episode!

    • Then, Kristine is an author you will want to read. Her writing is riveting and you will not want to put down her books until you reach the end. Happy reading Jennifer!

  4. Sherry, Thank you for such an awesome review!! I love that you mentioned Lois. Those were two characters that I enjoyed writing. They broke my heart too. I also love the quote you added at the end: “Sometimes life’s a bitch, which is why I tend to be one.” This is my mantra LOL! And all of this talk about Criminal Minds has me itching to watch some episodes!

To answer your question…yes, there are more CORE books coming! Ultimate Kill (Book 1 Ultimate CORE Trilogy) will be released mid-April. Wait until you meet the bad guy in this story 😉

    Thanks again!!!

    • So happy to share your wonderful books with my readers. Criminal Minds is one of my favorite shows. I even watch the reruns in the morning. lol I look forward to reading more about the Core. I have a T shirt I bought in New Orleans – I’m a Bitch, but it’s Miss Bitch to you. ^_^ Be talking at you soon.
