Sunny Florida turns into a Winter Wonderland – My Adventures #7

I would like to welcome you to my world, the Sunshine State of Florida.

I looked out my window this morning, hoping for some sunshine and…..

So Mr Wonderful and I went out to shoot the Ice Storm of 2014.

I thought Michigan was the Winter Wonderland, but I guess Mother Nature wants to keep us on our toes.

I don’t think we we will be sailing any time soon.

The flamingo below was relocated to Florida via Cape Cod, Mass and Rochester, New York. She is not a stranger to cold weather, but I don’t think she ever expected this.

The birds won’t be bathing today, but come back tomorrow and it will be in the 40s with sunshine.

The plants don’t know whether it is spring, fall or winter. One day a bloom, the next……

We took a lot more, but I think you get the DRIFT.

Thank you for visiting the Fundins.

Y’all come back now.

  1. Whoa, that’s crazy! Common in my neck of the woods, but definitely not what you expect in sunny Florida! You take gorgeous pictures, Sherry! Thanks for sharing your icy experience! For some reason, I’m feeling a little cold . . .

    • Thanks Taylor. Glad you enjoyed the photos. This may have set some kind of record for Florida. LOL I moved down here to avoid that, but it is very beautiful and otherwordly.

  2. Brrrrr, looks like you’re getting a taste of the NorEast weather! Great photos! Loved the flamingo with the icicle drip. Stay warm!!

  3. Thanks for sharing the pictures. This weather sure is extreme. In Iowa today we finally made it above 10 degrees so we are quite excited. We’re used to the cold (some of us don’t like it) yet this winter is colder than normal for us too. I guess escaping to sunny Florida this week is not such a great idea.

    • I get cold just looking at the weather on TV. Should be near 70 by this weekend. lol Thanks for stopping in Sandy and glad you enjoyed the photos.

  4. Looks like my back yard too! Insane weather. I don’t remember it ever being this bad here. Looking out my window this morning and the sun is rising. Waiting for that drip..drip…LOL By this weekend we could get a sunburn!

    • Thanks Emma. A little chilly taking them, but well worth the effort. Normally, I would venture out, especially to the beach for photo ops, but there are two bridges to cross and everything was iced over. Boo hoo. I do not wish for a next time though. ^_^

  5. Awesome picks, we lived in Coral Springs Fl for 6 years and I think we only turned our heater on once. My parents live in Lake Mary and they have had unusually cold weather this year.

    • Thanks Kimba. This has been the longest and coldest winter since I moved back south in 2008. I am looking forward to warmer weather. ^_^
