Andi Anna Jones, so-so travel agent and amateur sleuth, puts aside her resentment of her father’s widow and books a sixtieth birthday cruise to Cancun for Ruby and three friends. Never does Andi imagine the cruise will include the murder of a has-been lounge singer—or that Ruby might be the main suspect.

Flirting with more than danger after arriving in Mexico, Andi connects with charming local sheriff, Manual Gonzales. An embarrassing night involving the sheriff, too many margaritas, and a Mariachi band, can’t quell her determination to clear the name of her ex-stepmother.

While gathering clues and interviewing witnesses, however, she suspects dear old step-mom isn’t the only one in jeopardy.

About Mary Cunningham

Author, Mary Cunningham, grew up on the northern side of the Ohio River in Corydon, Indiana. Her first memories are of her dad’s original bedtime stories that no doubt inspired her imagination and love of a well-spun “yarn.”

Through the author’s horrifying stint as a travel agent, Andi Anna Jones sprang to life. The adult/mystery series gives extra meaning to the phrase, “Write what you know.” Cunningham has several books published, including Cynthia’s Attic, a five-book middle-grade fantasy, women’s lifestyle/humor book, WOOF: Women Only Over Fifty, Ebooks, Christmas With Daisy and Ghost Light. A biography of an army brat, turned UConn and WNBA basketball player, will be published in the spring of 2022.

She is a member of Sisters In Crime, Sisters In Crime-Atlanta Chapter, International Thriller Writers, Inc., and the Carrollton Writers Guild.

When she gives her fingers a break from the keyboard, Mary enjoys golf, swimming, and exploring the mountains of West Georgia where she makes her home with her husband and adopted, four-legged, furry daughter, Lucy.

Saving Grace by Pamela Fagan Hutchins @pameloth

I am a cover girl and when I saw the cover for Saving Grace by Pamela Fagan Hutchins, I had to have it. I love anything to do with water and this one is a beauty. What do you think?

MY REVIEW

I love the cover and the location, the Virgin Islands, for Pamela Fagan Hutchins’ Saving Grace. It was all I hoped it would be.

I was relating to Katie quickly, wrapping her napkin neatly around her beer, playing pool and winning, but that’s where the similarities ended. I don’t drink and text and neither should she. I find it terrible that a lawyer would act like she did, especially in a room with all her coworkers. She acts like an obsessively love struck teenager.

The beginning is abrupt and I was thrown right into the story and I don’t much like Katie right now. But, let’s see if there is a reason for her being so out of control and sophomoric.

The name dropping got a bit annoying…Dennis the Menace, Bon Jovi, Direct TV, iPhone, Ihop, Hooters, Vaio, Dell, Blackberry…you get the drift.

An intervention sent her to St Marcos in her quest to solve the mystery of her parents death and get her act together. Enter Ava, who in her way introduced Katie to Annalise, Hebrew for Grace, an abandoned mansion that spoke to Katie. Now Pamela has my attention! Who…or what… is really doing the talking?

Katie loved walking on the beach and it cleared her mind. Now, we’re getting together.

Oh man, guess it had to happen, but I’m disappointed how her trip ended. I have a feeling that will change. It was just getting good for me, but I feel there is a lot more to come.

When the news came over the phone after one of the worst days of her life, I got super excited too. My heart beat faster, a smile came to my face, and I began racing through the pages. Oh yeah, now we’re cooking with Caribbean heat.

She got a pick up with a lift kit and cruised off to her new life. I want to be there!! I love to bury my feet in the sand and I have enjoyed a PainKiller or two.

I’m afraid for her and her friends. In the islands anything can happen. The suspense is mounting, the tension building. I can feel it. I see it coming. Does she?

I didn’t like Katie’s whining and sniveling for the longest time, but her growth and development, her willingness to see herself as she really was and make changes, made me like her more and more.

Now…after thinking I wasn’t going to like this so much…I find myself hating for it to end and wanting more.

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Saving Grace by Pamela Fagan Hutchins.

Katie Connell is a high-strung attorney whose sloppy drinking habits and stunted love life collide hilariously in a doomed celebrity case in Dallas. When she flees Texas for the Caribbean, Katie escapes professional humiliation, a broken heart, and a wicked Bloody Mary habit, but she trades one set of problems for another when she begins to investigate the suspicious deaths of her parents on the island of St. Marcos. She’s bewitched by the voodoo spirit of an abandoned house in the rainforest and discovers that she’s as much a danger to herself as the island’s bad guys are. As the worst of her worlds collide, Katie drags herself back to the courthouse to defend her new friend Ava, an island local accused of stabbing the senator she’s been sleeping with.

Pamela Fagan Hutchins, a former attorney and native Texan, lived in the U.S. Virgin Islands for nearly ten years. She refuses to admit to taking notes for this novel during that time.

Gentlemen… Start Your Engines #Daytona500 #Nascar

As I sit here, writing this post, I am listening to Florida Georgia Line singing Cruise and I am ready for…gentlemen start your engines!!!

I have been watching all the hype this past week, anticipating today…the kickoff for the Nascar racing season. When I first started watching, it was because of Jeff Gordon. Don’t ask me why, put something about him lured me into the racing game and I have been here every since. I love sports of all kinds and was happy to add this one to my repertoire.

Nascar is now bitter sweet for me. I have lost my Champion, Jeff Gordon…but even though he is no longer racing, he will be a fixture in the broadcast booth.

Now…the big guestion is, who am I going to root for?

Well..it’s really hard not to follow the 24 car, Chase Elliot. I wonder how Jeff Gordon is feeling right now. Is he thinking he could be on the Pole, if only…

Or…how about the man with a personality I used to love to hate. He may not be the prettiest, but he has won me over. I love a rebel with a cause and Kyle Bush has his eye on the prize.

Unfortunately Kyle was not the winner today.

I was yelling at him to jump out there in front of Denny Hamlin, but he couldn’t hear me. For all you Denny Hamlin fans, congratulations.

Here are some of my Daytona moments with Mr Wonderful and the gang.

Giveaway and Review for Lady Justice and The Cruise Ship Murders by Robert Thornhill

.Lady Justice and the Cruise Ship Murders (Lady Justice, #11)

Add to Goodreads

Out of the blue, Mark Stewart received a letter in the mail from Skagway, Alaska. A. Prospector gold minerclaimed  to know about gold that had been stolen from his great great grandfather in 1898.

At the same time the Stewarts were preparing for their voyage, Ox and Judy De Marce, invited my wife, Maggie, and I on an Alaskan Cruise for their honeymoon. We’d only been married a year ourselves and had never been on a cruise. Sounded great.

Amy Stewart had kept the letter from  A. Prospector and did some research. His facts were true and accurate. After talking with him over the computer, Amy and Mark decided some family history and cruising would go good together, so they were on their way.

As the Stewarts prepared for the cruise, others were making plans of their own. They had hacked into Quimby’s, A Prospector’s, email account to keep track of what he was up to.

One slip up while packing, will cause them grief. I loved that he put in their fiasco through airport security.

All six of them met for the first time at the airport and found out they were taking the same cruise. But if they thought it was going to be a vacation, they had another thing coming.

Animated Animals. Pictures, Images and Photos  5 STARS – Would Highly Recommend To Others

A humorous mystery novel that made me think of Janet Evanovich‘s books. I had been immediately attracted to the book by the title and cover. The blurb made me know it was going to be an adventure with plenty of murder and mystery told in a light-hearted way. I love the “noir” type of book.

The guys are typical guys and the same goes for the women. Whatever the gals wanted  the guys went along with. They dressed up for cruise dinners and socialized with the other passengers. I’ve been on cruises, so I know the program.

I love adventure novels and treasure hunting. This book contained all the elements. There were multiple story lines and it was action packed.

I loved the reference to Clint Eastwood in Rawhide – herding cows. “Move ’em out, head ’em up, head ’em up, move ’em on, move ’em out, head ’em up – Rawhide. I remember watching the TV show and singing along.

My husband and I joke all the time about following the herd.

The author made other references to the old westerns. It seemed to describe the places in the book in a great way.  Skagway was Dodge City and Tombstone rolled into one.

Quimby, the professor who found the map and started the whole thing, reminded me of Indiana Jones. I love references to TV shows and movies. It helps to picture everything in my mind.

When I met Willie, Jerry and Anne, they had me cracking up and kept me laughing. I loved them.

…Just like Timex watches – they take a licking and keep on ticking. Full of clichés, but not too overdone. It is his writing style and added a humorous element, keeping me laughing throughout the book.

He also made me think, that with every page I turned, something would happen. Kept waiting, anticipating. Oh, and it kept me laughing. LOL

Human nature..skew the scales of justice. Those times, the call will go out from Lady Justice for someone to step up and right those scales.

“The bartenders have concocted a special drink just for the cruise. It’s made of Viagra and prune juice. They call it the ‘Get up and Go!'”

I won this signed paperback on Robert Thornhill’s Website.

Have You Ever Seen This At The Beach?!!!

I went to the beach and found this unusual sight.

After five days without power in the Gulf of Mexico, the more than 4,200 people aboard the Carnival Triumph returned home to the U.S., with many of them telling their horror stories for the first time.

Passengers began to disembark the damaged ship around 10:15 p.m. CT Thursday in Mobile, Ala. The last passenger disembarked the ship at 1 a.m. local time, according to Carnival’s Twitter handle.

Passenger Brandi Dorsett was thankful to be home, especially for her mother, who was with her on the ship. Dorsett said she wasn’t pleased with the doctor on staff.

“My mother is a diabetic, and they would not even come to the room because she cannot walk the stairs to help her with insulin. She hasn’t had insulin in three days,” Dorsett said.

The Carnival Triumph departed Galveston, Texas, last Thursday and lost power Sunday after a fire in the engine room disabled the vessel’s propulsion system and knocked out most of its power.
