He’s All About The Fun – Trust In Love by Amanda Siegrist @amanda_siegrist

Trust in Love (The McCord Family #2)

Amazon / Goodreads

MY REVIEW

I am loving this family, but I wonder if I would have enjoyed the next couple of books more if I would have read something else in between. That being said, I am going to love to see Austin meet his match.

Sophie kept telling herself she wasn’t running from an old life, but to a new one. Her father had left her a rundown house, but it was hers. And, she moved in next door to Austin. With the house being in need of repair, he will find many excuses to visit.

Ava had been determined to find Austin’s love, seeing she had found hers. When she heard what happened when Austin introduced himself to Sophie, Ava thought…she’s the one. Ava is back to her old self, sorta, and I am loving this side of her. She is humorous and her witty dialogue has me smiling. Ava and Zane are so sweet and playful, in the honeymoon phase of their marriage.

Sophie is the creative type. I love her character, because she is so different from myself. She repurposes objects and sells them online. Because of her past, you might think Sophie would be a doormat, but not so. And a man who is honest? Is it possible? Will Austin wile his way into her life? Patience is the key, and persistence.

I do enjoy the push pull of new romance. When the right person comes your way, you can fight attraction all you want, but they will slowly break down your barriers.

The way to a McCord man’s heart is with pie…and Austin’s favorite is Grape Nut Pie. They are a tight family. When one hurts, they all hurt.

Shivers spread across my body when she killed the spider. OMG. I hate spiders.

The characters seem so real, even though they have many ‘things’ come their way. The story is predictable, except I did not see Deja coming.

I love how we have two stories really, Ava settling in and getting her groove back and Sophie, the star of the show…and an introduction to Deja. The smiles, outright laughter and a bit of fear, as a slow burning romance and danger played out, kept me reading.

GOODREADS BLURB

From USA Today bestselling author Amanda Siegrist comes a heartwarming series that will make you swoon…and maybe even shed a few tears.

He didn’t want to fall in love. And then he met her.

Austin McCord has always enjoyed women…to an extent. He’s all about the fun. Anything beyond that, not so much. Until he meets his neighbor, Sophie. He knows he can’t touch her. She has marriage written all over her. Except temptation overwhelms him every time he sees her beautiful, angelic face. It doesn’t matter. Because whenever he tries to take two steps toward her, she keeps taking three steps back. Someone hurt her, that’s obvious. For the first time, he’s thinking a happily ever after sounds nice. Now his only obstacle is convincing her of the same thing…and keeping her safe before her past tears her apart.

Love! Gimme some love and heaps of romance. I have a sappy heart that just loves two people meeting, going through the cycles of a relationship, and ultimately, falling in love. Give me a good book like that and I’m a happy camper:)

I write contemporary and romantic suspense, but I am partial to suspense. I just love a good mystery.

Besides writing, I love baking, crafts, and baseball…oh, and meeting new people. *smiles*

Sneaking Into His Heart – Protecting You by Amanda Siegrist @amanda_siegrist

Protecting You (McCord Family, #1)

Amazon / Goodreads

MY REVIEW

As we meet Ava and Jimmy in the midst of their lively dialogue, I quickly become involved, but that’s because I know just enough about them from a couple of later books I read, and now I’ll be getting the details from the horses mouth.

Wow, Amanda Siegrist led me straight into the danger and action. I was way to comfortable, wondering why are we here, on a call, before the party? I got the answer I was looking for from the beginning, what happened to make Zane hate Ava so much.

Zane loved the farm and expected Jimmy and Austin to love it to. Jimmy had always dreamed about becoming a cop and living in New York City. That is how he met Ava, the head of the crime scene investigators. They became fast friends, family.

Zane is the ‘dad’ brother, feeling responsible for taking care of his brothers, even though they are grown men. Of course, they don’t discuss their feelings. Austin is the funny one, the ladies man.

People handle grief in their own way and Ava was swept away from New York to the farm…and Zane. Zane’s bark is worse than his bite. The first night had me in tears. I had to take a break to let my eyes clear.

Way to go Amanda. You have written a powerful, realistic, romance novel that settles around grief, loss, and healing. The romance may be predictable, familiar, but the road to healing is filled with tears, guilt, forgiveness, love…I am drawn into their world of loss and pain. It’s so real, it reads like real life. Their struggle is my struggle and I do look forward to us finding out way through the grief to the Happy Ever After Amanda Siegrist delivers.

Well, I was getting all mellowed out….lazily smiling…the Fourth of July parade…and BAM, in my face. I expected a meet up, but with someone else…and I love it!

MMM…a happy ever after that will take me directly into Book II, Trust In Love.

He wanted to hate her. He just might fall in love instead.

Zane McCord might not say it often, but he loves his brothers no matter what, even when he’s acting like a jerk and he knows it. When his brother Jimmy dies with tension hanging between them, he turns all his hatred to the woman who deserves it—Ava Rainer, the one responsible for his death. He refuses to like her. He won’t help her. He wants her nowhere near him. Except she’s suddenly on his farm and sneaking her way into his heart with her own pain. The guilt is eating him alive, but maybe…just maybe…they can heal together.

MY REVIEW

Christmas Eve

You know Kathryn Meyer Griffith’s memories and feelings run deep, because her first novel, Evil Stalks The Night, is the story’s setting inspired by her family home.

Christmas Magic brought to mind many memories of my own. As  child, I too was fascinated when I would awake in the morning and the world is blanketed in snow. I too loved visiting my Grandmother’s house, which was just down the road. It was like a mini vacation. I remember making paper and popcorn chains for the Christmas tree.

It is no surprise to me that Kathryn Meyer Griffith became a prolific writer, with her smarts, photographic memory and love of reading.

She may not have had much money, but she had lots of love.

What a vision…all nine of the family piling into the car and to Grandma’s house we go. They actually drove over the river and through the woods.

A heartwarming short story, with the highest highs and the lowest lows, love, happiness, sadness, giving and sharing…the human cycle.

GOODREADS BLURB:  Have you ever wondered what a writer’s early years were like and how it affected their future writing and the stories they would tell later in their lives? Have you ever wondered what their childhood Christmases, their early holidays, were like? Well, wonder no longer. This story is about one of my most cherished childhood Christmases…in 1959 when I was nine years old. After my beloved musician/singer/songwriter brother Jim passed away in 2015 from cancer I felt an intense need to write this short story about that special Christmas Eve I shared with him, my other siblings, mother, father and grandparents, and put it out there for everyone to read as a tribute to him and my family. This is my story, part of my childhood, and some of my fondest memories. Note: in the late 1970’s I did a series of illustrated (by me, because I’m an artist, too) short stories for my local newspaper and I’ve used one of my old drawings from 1978 for the first page of this short story.
