My passion for children’s literature stems from 30+ years in education and my re-entry into bedtime stories with the addition of my beautiful grandchildren. I created Charlie as a means for children to learn with Charlie by having a growth mindset when it comes to facing new experiences and learning new things. Children live in a world that is traveling ever faster and my desire is to help them slow down and enjoy childhood through the adventures of Charlie Chaloosy. I hope children have fun with Charlie while engaging their minds through stories that encourage them to read, write, illustrate, and dream a little.

    MY REVIEW

Michele Monaco and illustrator, Prabir Sharkar have created an entertaining fantasy of magical reindeers visiting three young girls, wanting them to be pen pals. The illustrations for the oversized book are colorful and fun, on heavy, slick pages for the youngsters to touch. The story may encourage the young to pick up pencil and paper and write to..anyone. There are a list of questions at then end for the kiddies to ask their favorite reindeer, Santa, or any pen pal they choose. I love books that encourage children to communicate in any form and stretch their imagination. Sure to entertain the child hiding in all of us.

Giveaway & Review – Sammy & Scarlett’s Coral Reef Adventure by Robert Andrew Provan @ireadbooktours

    Publisher:  Archway Pub
    Release date:  May, 2023
Content Rating:  G.  This children’s book is for everyone.

    MY REVIEW

I love the magnificent illustrations created by Mary Wentzel in Sammy & Scarlett’s Coral Reef Adventure by Robert Andrew Provan. Detailed and colorful that lead us, step by step, through the story. I was eager to get my hands on it, and wasted no time diving in. I love anything to do with oceans, seas, lakes, ponds…and all of their inhabitants. I am fascinated with water and find it soothing, hypnotizing.

We are introduced to Sammy, a sergeant major fish, and Scarlett, a yellowtail snapper who are washed out of their tidal pool, fiding safety in the mangroves. They decide it”s time to head to the Florida Keys, where they will spend their adult life.

They meet Howie, a Hawksbill Sea Turtle, and become fast friends. They learn a lot from him, as did we. Didn’t we, little ones?

I can imagine the delight a young child can gain from the wonderful illustrations as they learn about the symbiotic relationship of the Florida sea creatures. As Sammy and Scarlett learn from Howie, so do we. We learn of corals, reefs, solitary fish, schools of fish, who could be a friend, who could be your enemy and who could eat you. We, also get a glimpse of ourselves and our contributions, good and bad.

I loved it. I loved it. I loved it.

Thank you for hosting me on your blog, and happy reading!

    MY REVIEW

The Christmas Blanket by Ed Damiano is a wonderful illustrated children’s book that delivers a simple message….What is the true meaning of Christmas?

The Christmas Blanket is Ed Damiano’s first foray into the world of children’s books and I think he penned a story that children between the ages of 3 and 7 will love. The pages are thick, bright and colorful, sure to catch the eye of the youngsters in your world, leading them to come up with their own meaning of Christmas. I feel they may even come up with questions of their own, creating a conversation that could include more than Christmas wishes.

Favorite Holiday Memory Blog Hop & Free Book @ElaineKAuthor @ChrysFey

    .

Blog Hop Question: What is your favorite holiday memory?

(This includes Hanukkah, Kwanza, Yule/Winter Solstice, Christmas, etc.)

My Memory: I can’t really choose a favorite holiday memory because I have been through many changes in my life. I loved celebrating with my son when he was small (there’s something special about sharing the holiday with children). I moved from Michigan to Alabama and celebrating without the cold weather and snow was a new experience to me. I moved to Florida alone and the holidays were spent at my two of my favorite hangouts. At Ms Newby’s, all of us with nowhere to go would bring a dish to pass around at the liquor store/bar and it was so much fun meeting new people. I also spent time at Schooners, usually going for a swim and sitting at the bar with dripping hair, a bathing suit, and numerous cocktails. Now, that’s my kind of Christmas. Now, I have Mr Wonderful and living in Florida, in my little piece of paradise. I love all the holiday decorations, especially the lights. I feel there can never be too many lights. Every year we make a trip to New Orleans for the Christmas decorations. What’s up for this year with whatever family can make it? No plans…yet.

What about you? Do you have a favorite holiday memory?

Cape Cod 2019. I love this buoy Christmas Tree.
