Sherry’s Shelves 9.10 – 9.16.23 #weeklyupdate

Hi Everyone. I’m going to start by saying I have read some of the most fabulous books. No, they are not romantic suspense or thrillers of my normal murder and mayhem type, except for D V Berkom’s latest Leina Basso Thriller, Terminal Threat. These are fantasy, paranormal and apocalytpic stories that are off the charts. One is Unleashed, Defiant Dragons, Book I by Aria Glaski. She is an author I have been following for years and this may be favorite book of hers to date. I am so happy it will be a series. Another is the Hell’s Angels Series by Olivia Boothe. I am so happy I signed up for Book Sirens, because I have found and been found by some fabulous authors. Her work is BLOWING MY MIND. The Hell’s Angels series needs to be read in order and if you sign up for her newsletter, you get a prequel that will definitely whet your appetite for more. Oh, and if you are looking for some laughs with your vampires, Mimi Jean Pamfiloff has a good supply in Vampire In The Jungle. The reason I am mentioning these specifi books is because they were all 5 STAR reads for me. I find myself so lucky to be pretty darn good at finding those books that fit me.

Also, if you are looking for some great kids books, I recently read two 5 STAR books, Grace and the Golden Rule and Sammy & Scarlett’s Coral Reef Adventure.

Well, now for my TV binging. Does anyone watch Below Deck? They are having a bit of a marathon this weekend and, even though I have seen these episodes over and over, I’m watching them over again. LOL

I don’t have much planned this week. Mr Wonderful has been working the ball game at the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. They are in the playoffs, so he will be doing those too. It was so hot, I didn’t get to a game this year. Maybe I’ll make it for a playoff game, seeing it’s beginning to cool down. He’s doing some West Florida University football games and some Pensacola Ice Flyers hockey games.

Wow, I did ramble on a bit. Most of the time I keep things short and sweet(?).

Take care and stay safe.

Stormy weather with Stevie Ray Vaughn

These shots and video were taken by Mr Wonderful and me over the last several days.

Thursday – The clouds rolled in and I mean that literally. I have been watching the skies since Thursday, when the crackling boom of thunder surrounded the house and I opened the front door to investigate. Funny how the bad weather is out front and the sun shines on the pool and patio. *all photos not to be used without permission*

Friday – We had an itch to visit the beach and had to scratch it. We hadn’t been to Hooters for a while, so a wing call was in order. Hooters is on Pensacola Bay, with a view of the piers for boats and, of course, our signature white, sandy beach. It is a great place to people watch, especially as this storm rolls in. I can certainly see why we are the lightning capital and so many people are struck by lightning. Check out the video and you will see why for yourself.

Actually, I can’t remember if me or Mr Wonderful took this, but I am think three strikes and we may be out.

Hubby took this from a video. It looks like someone opened up a portal in the sky and said, “Hey you dumbasses, get off the beach.”

Saturday – Mr Wonderful was working the Pensacola Wahoos baseball game, but the starting time was delayed. As the cloud rolls in, the tarp rolls out.

This is just your typical Florida weather.

What’s the weather like in your neck of the woods?

My Adventures #15 – Thunder on the Gulf

The weather has been beautiful, but very hot here on the Gulf. That does not stop us from enjoying outdoor activities.

There is always something going on here in our little piece of paradise:

Where thousands live like millions wish they could!!!

This weekend, Flora-Bama is sponsoring the 2014 Thunder Run Superboat Grand Prix.

The Gulf Coast Powerboat Association has put together the inaugural dual race format.

There are two races, in two cities, in two states – Orange Beach, Alabama and Pensacola, Florida.

Mr Wonderful and I went to downtown Pensacola, where the event was being held for day three of the Flora-Bama Shootout.

These are some of the fastest and biggest power boats in the world.

There are many classes of boats, but the main styles are Vee Bottom Boats and Catamarans.

The air is thick with moisture, making it hard to breath and we are immediately dripping wet. It is the cheapest sauna I have ever been in. LOL

We take our time as we walk through downtown and checking out all the action.

I love boats and I love speed. These amazing power boats put on a performance that had my heart pounding and my body vibrating with the roar of the engines. To watch the rooster tails shoot out of the water as the boats thunder by makes me wonder what it would be like riding along on race day.

Even though it was only practice, they put on a great show.

We wandered through Race Village, able to check out the boats up close and personal.

Music was playing and a good time was had by all.

Mr Wonderful freelances as a producer/director for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, our minor league baseball team. They delayed the game today, Sunday, due to Thunder on the Gulf. He will be going back to the races, then working the ballgame, so I chose not to go. That’s why I am sitting in my recliner, watching football (yeah, it is finally football season, lol) and blogging to you.

What did you do this weekend?

Take Me Out To The Ballgame…

Mr Wonderful wears many hats and working for Pensacola’s Blue Wahoos, the Cincinnati Reds baseball farm team, is one of them.

Last night was employee appreciation night with fun to be had by all.

For your listening enjoyment.
