Books From The Backlog – Night of the Purple Moon by Scott Cramer #booksfromthebacklog @cramer_scott

.

Books from the Backlog is a fun way to feature some of those neglected books sitting on your bookshelf unread.  If you are anything like me, you might be surprised by some of the unread books hiding in your stacks.

If you would like to join in, swing by Carole’s Random Life in Books.

Right now, I have 2488 books on my Goodreads TBR. No matter how many books I read, the mountain grows taller and I am going through it…slowly. If I have the book, it stays, no matter what. I’m adding tags that I never even thought about doing at the time I added the book. It would have been so much easier if I had done it then.

Night of the Purple Moon (The Toucan Trilogy, #1)

Amazon / Audiobook / Goodreads

GOODREADS BLURB

Thirteen-year-old Abby Leigh yearns for her family to be reunited – in Cambridge, not Castine Island where she feels like an outsider. Her younger brother, Jordan, is having no problem fitting in and making friends.

Everyone on Castine Island is anxiously awaiting the arrival of the purple moon, caused by a comet entering the Earth’s atmosphere. Scientists expected this thrilling phenomenon and food companies are churning out purple-colored products in celebration of the comet’s arrival.

The morning following the comet’s debut Abby and Jordan make a chilling discovery: every adult on the island is dead. The children of the island band together to withstand their new circumstances, and the older kids quickly learn a gripping truth about their own ticking clocks. It’s only a matter of time before they succumb to the comet bacteria, but can they raise the next generation to survive?

Goodreads rating: 3.73  ·  1,925 ratings  ·  360 reviews

I added this back on 10.2.12. This Amazon freebie has a cool cover. I love books that take place on islands. There is nowhere to run and you have to face what’s coming at ya, in this case a comet. And the children are on their own. Does it have a familiar ring to it?

  1. I have definitely seen this concept before, but I am sure the author put some sort of new spin on it. Wow! You have almost 2500 books on your TBR. That’s a lot of reading.

    • yeah. i have to be honest sam. i know i’ll never read them all and i keep adding more. i just can’t help myself

  2. What a fate! This sounds really interesting. I like books set on islands too–and with that end of the world vibe (at least for some). I hope you enjoy it when you read it!

  3. I too have this from many years ago as a Kindle freebie, and since then have also gotten the ebook series for free. Ha ha. I should add it to my top list of books for next year. I hope you read it soon so I can see what you think! 👍✨

  4. We are very much alike with our mountains of TBRs – I too refuse to remove a book that I own without at least trying it before removing it from the Kindle or selling it at HPB. I am also struggling with retagging things, or starting to tag them at all. I used to be so good at tagging a book immediately with the shelves it fit on, and then I stopped. Now my shelves are a mess. Blech. But the thought of starting over makes me want to cry, so…

    • it’s a huge task to fill in the missing blanks. that’s why i started doing this meme. i share and tag at the same time. will i ever get done? maybe not but sharing is always a good thing

  6. This is so funny because I had this on my TBR like 100 years ago too, also because I got it as a Kindle freebie. I think it and I may have parted ways though 😂 I actually really like the idea of it, but the MC seems awfully young. Maybe some day! I hope you enjoy it!

    • i usually find it easy to get lost in a book, sooooo we shall see….maybe. 🙂 it is my intent to read it, but ya never know what might get in the way
