Hi Everyone. You know it’s spring, when the azaleas are blooming. This week’s weather has been hit and miss, but I am so happy that I have been able to work out in the yard, doing a lot of weeding and spring prep. Hope to get some fertilizer and insect killer down this week. I got in the pool…and it is still a bit chilly. Love it anyway. During March, the oak leaves fall and create a battle of the leaves. Then we have the little seed pods, so I have to keep emptying the robot and skimmers. I sure do love my robot. Saves me a ton of time to do something else. Mr Wonderful got his second dose of the vaccine and all looks good. For me, it still doesn’t change anything. The Mullet Toss is coming up at the end of April. It takes place at the Redneck Riviera, Florabama and I will be missing another year of it. It’s disappointing, but even with the vaccination, I don’t see myself partying with a bunch of people from all over the country, maybe the world. With the relaxation of all the Covid rules, I feel even less confident on being around anyone. But, we have some friends and family that are coming down for it and I am conflicted. Mr Wonderful has invited them over, but after them going to a wet Tshirt contest and drinking all day at the Floribama, I don’t feel good about it. And, I sure don’t want them staying with us. I haven’t done enough research of my own to know what happens after your vaccination. I mean…are we 100% safe to go out and do anything and everything? Hope you had a good week and another coming up.

Stay safe and wear a mask..

  1. We are sooo similar in how we feel about Covid safety issues, Sherry. Even now that I’ve had my second dose, it doesn’t change anything for me. I still stay at home, avoid people, don’t eat out, etc. My step-daughter and her family are coming through town on their way to Disney (I can’t even imagine) and want to stop over to visit. My husband told them we could visit on the driveway but they can’t come in the house. Seeing all the gatherings happen (concerts, events, etc) just blows my mind.

  2. Beautiful pictures! I love seeing everything in bloom (even if I have a stuffy nose from it). Maybe no overnight guests, but perhaps you can do an outdoor thing? I feel comfortable outdoors with people, where there’s lots of air movement and distance.

  3. The azaleas are stunning and I’m glad your robot mower cuts down so much work. My son informs me (and he always heavily researches these things…) that you don’t get the full protection from Covid until at least 3 months after your second vaccination. And that doesn’t necessary stop you getting it, but your symptoms should be a lot milder. I hope that information helps you make your decisions. Have a good week, Sherry.

  4. My dad (94) has had both shots and my niece and her young kids wanted to come by. It made me laugh that my dad told her when she got there, “Oh, look, here’s a thermometer, let’s see how you’re doing,” and he wore a mask. Good job, I think!

We are going out a little more, but always masked and keeping our social distance except around other vaccinated people.

Your azaleas are magnificent. I thought mine were dead after that hard freeze we had, but, no, they came back. And our oak trees douse us with leaves and then pollen this time of year, too. I’m so glad they are healthy that I don’t think I even care this year.

  5. I love the azaleas. I have them planted but this is the first year and they are very small yet. My rose bush is not blooming but it is looking very healthy.

I feel as you do about things. We are trying not to go out and do much, still wearing our masks. We are thinking we will go to my niece’s wedding in May but we will see.

  6. The covid situation is getting ever more complicated to navigate what with some people being vaccinated, others not, then the different variants… More of a minefield than it’s ever been! I think you’ve just got to do what you’re comfortable with.

    The spring flowers are lovely!

  7. Beautiful pics! And I hear you on the people stuff. Having had Covid and having at least some immunity still (I’m assuming- no one really know how long THAT lasts) I’m still careful too. And we’re hoping to get the shot soon. I agree with some of the other comments though- with those nasty variants out there I’m still trying to play it safe a bit. It seems like from what I’ve read they estimate protection of around 90% after the second dose, I think, for the MRNA vaccines… I don’t know about Johnson & Johnson. I’ll keep wearing my mask lol.

Hope it goes well whatever you decide.

  8. Love flower photos. I’m with you about Covid and vaccinations. People seem to think vaccinations are the answer to everything and not just a piece to the puzzle. I don’t see our lives changing much. I wish you luck with your guests. It’s such a weird time right now.

  9. You’re right to be cautious. The whole point of the vaccines is to give between 80% and 95% protection against Covid sending you to hospital with serious illness. It’s designed to stop you going to hospital on a ventilator and dying, not stopping you getting it. It doesn’t stop you catching it or passing it on, and it won’t stop you having Covid symptoms which can still be bad. If I were you I’d avoid any dangerous connections.
