LATEST HAPPENINGS

Hello fellow bloggers. How are you today? It’s been a long time since I’ve done a Sunday post. I’m not sure why I have chosen now, when I am least motivated to blog, but here I am. Maybe it’s because I want things to seem normal. I am retired and a homebody, so things didn’t change for me a lot, other than Mr Wonderful being home all the time. I am so happy that we still get along so well, you know, being together 24/7. I had worried how we would get along when he retires and now now we know. We’ll be just fine.

It seems our world has gone to hell and we are being led down a frightening path. I have been isolated for 11 weeks now, since March 13th, and have only been out a few times. Once we drove to the beach and a couple of times we have played golf. I don’t understand these people that run around without masks, traffic is crazy, and people are acting like things are the same as the old days. Am I the only one that is worried?

For the first time, it has hit closer to home. Our uncle’s girlfriend has tested positive for Covid-19. They live in a golf community in Georgia. She is quarantined and our uncle is staying at a hotel. So far, she is doing fine and he is negatiive.

I have been reading a lot, but I won’t be reviewing all the books I’ve read. I will be rating them on Goodreads though. I joined Kindle Unlimited for the two free months they were offering. I am enjoying it, but I won’t be renewing it.

I hope everyone is staying safe and doing well.

  1. I know what you mean, Sherry. I ventured out to a store yesterday (first time in ages) and I was shocked at the number of people not wearing masks. The Husband and I were definitely in the minority. It’s as if people decided the virus disappeared of doesn’t exist and they’re just going back to normal. It boggles the mind. I hope your uncle’s girlfriend will be okay!

    • so far so good with my uncle’s girlfriend. i guess people don’t want to face reality

  2. Sorry to hear about your uncle’s girlfriend, but glad he is well and that she is doing ok. That’s scary! I consider myself lucky, that my company is letting me stay home. Commuting on the trains would have been really stressful for me.

    • i couldn’t imagine how frightened i would be if i had to commute by train. glad you don’t have to. stay safe

  3. I’m with you on it all. I’m retired but my daughter is in college. We’ve been home since March 16. We’re comfortable and happy. We wear masks the times we have to leave the house, which is not often.

The protests give me hope for some real change but I worry about COVID.

Happy reading, stay safe and well.

Anne – Books of My Heart Here is my Sunday Post

    • so true for everything you said. i don’t think people believe that covid is here to stay for a long time. it’s not like the flu and it has a season.

  4. I understand exactly what you mean. I’m baffled as to why people think they can go without masks anywhere they wish. Obviously they do not know about my three friends going through chemo or my 93-year-old dad. It’s one thing to leave yourself open to the virus but what about others. To me, it shows a lack of respect for the weaker parts of our world.

I’m glad you are getting along with your husband so well. That’s one good thing in all this difficulty.

I wonder how you decide which books to review. I just go ahead and review everything.

    • well, it all depends on time. i do all review requests that i accept and have numerous authros that i review everything they write. as far as amazon freebies, some i do and some i don’t. depends how i feel. if it’s the library, which i don’t do a lot, i review those too. kinda hit and miss depending on time and my mood.

  5. Hey Sherry awesome to see you back on the Sunday Post! 🙂 And I feel the same way about the people acting like everything is normal- I’ve often marveled at that too thee last few months. To me safe is better than sorry! Anyway sending prayers and best wishes for your uncle’s girlfriend- I hope her case is mild and she’s well soon!

    • so far so good, but that is a definite wake up call. i was already doing my best to stay safe for myself and i would hate to be responsible for someone getting it from me. stay safe greg

  6. I think people crave normalcy and want to forget we are still living through a pandemic. I’m glad you’re feeling better and back to blogging. I don’t always review every book I read either. Enjoy your reading week!

    • i totally agree laura. thanks for the thoughts and even though i don’t review everything i am a readaholic and at least rate them on goodreads

  7. I hope your uncle’s girlfriend gets better quickly! I’ve been in my house pretty much constantly since March 17. It’s hard, but I don’t want to be responsible for spreading disease. I hope you have a good week!

    • seems like we a lot of us are on the same page and that makes me feel good. hope you have a great week too

  8. People are coming out in droves here and lot of them are bringing their kids and babies and not wearing masks. I fear how things will progress as we are already seeing new cases. Stay safe and tell Mr. Wonderful hi for me!

    • i worry for you because of that. here in florida i feel our ‘leaders’ have an anything goes agenda. i hope with all the countries failings being exposed, things will have to change. stay safe and take care. say hi to cole and glad he made it through the kidney stones okay. that sucks big time

  9. Hopefully my husband goes back to his office soon 😉 Wishing your uncle’s girlfriend a speedy and complete recovery! Thanks for sharing and enjoy your week.

    • yeah, i do miss my alone time, though mr wonderful goes into our office and stays in there most of the day. have a great week

  10. I can relate to you on so many issues. I do wish everyone would have the courtesy and responsibility to wear a mask when in public, Being shut in with someone we love is wonderful but can be difficult. My husband and I are retired and find that it’s important that we both have outside interests and social engagements or it does get difficult to be together constantly. Well wishes to your Uncle’s girlfriend and stay well.

    • mr wonderful is definitely getting a taste of what retirement will be look and we do have hobbies and outside interests, so i think we’ll do okay when he does retire. i had wondered how he would adjust and this was a good trial run, even though i hate the reason we had to try it out

  11. I’m sending you best wishes for your uncle’s girlfriend and I really hope she has a speedy recovery. I’m glad your uncle tested negative. You’re not the only one who is worried seeing people going about without masks. Other than the delivery people who come to our house, we don’t see anyone wearing masks. On TV these protests for BLM and the anti-lockdown groups ignore social distancing and a lot don’t wear masks. Yes I’m worried too and so is my dad.

    • i guess all we can do is take care of ourselves the best we can and be a little selfish about it. take care and stay safe
