I have been reading Amanda Siegrist’s work for some time now, so to get a copy of Dark Consequences, which was published in March was wonderful. And we do have some hard choices that will need to made in this love story with a twist.
I love a story that grips me early and Dark Consequences by Amanda Siegrist does just that.
Abby was a secretary for a criminal defense attorney in Minnesota, but she knew how to take care of herself. She had moved there with her best friend, Brandon. She was happy with her life, but there was one thing missing, her brother, Cooper. He was a psychopath who murdered people without compunction.
A cop in love with a woman who’s brother killed his sister. NOW…he was going to hunt him down and exact his own revenge.
It had been love at first sight for him and Abby. How could they have a future? Abby was afraid that Tate was going to kill her brother, because he had killed his sister and her goal was to stop him. Who would find Cooper first?
WOW. The twists and turns in the many layered chilling mystery kept me ‘flipping pages’ to the very end. The characters are not all good or all bad, complex yet loyal to the end, willing to sacrifice whatever necessary to get the job done.
The romance was hot and heavy between Abby and Tate and I love the addition of Stromberg…the three Musketeers.
I love a story that keeps on giving and I see more of Consequences to be dealt with in my future.
I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Dark Consequences by Amanda Siegrist.

Fire Wolf H. Danielle Crabtree (Fire & Reign, #1) Publication date: May 21st 2019 Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult
Since the fall of the royal house, the four kingdoms have been divided and at war, leaving many without necessities to survive. Lady Myah Leicht would do anything for her people, even risk herself—the future high lady of Nordlin—to join her friends to raid supply convoys and storehouses belonging to the enemy army against her uncle and his council’s wishes.
Garrett wants nothing more than to be done with the Osten Elite Guard, but his position as master keeps him close to the queen and close the secrets the resistance needs. But only one secret he keeps matters to the future of the four kingdoms.
And that secret could burn Myah’s world to the ground.
The wind picked up, howling through the unsheltered channel. It prickled every inch of Myah’s skin, blasting through her damp clothes. A chill raced up her spine when the gust died.
It was not the wind marking her end, but the cries of the wolves.
Myah would die to their song.
—
“I find you baffling.”
He laughed quietly. “I get that a lot.”
“If you don’t want to blackmail me, then what do you want?” she pushed.
He leaned forward as if to get a better look at her in the moonlight. “To test a theory.”
“And what is your conclusion?” She was curious now, much less afraid, although still untrusting.
“Undetermined …”
—
Garrett’s breaths were becoming ragged. His blood, warm and hot and sticky, dripped down his chest. He could feel the moisture on his skin. He blocked a swing aiming for his head, and then took a knife to his left side. It was shallow, but his muscles knotted. He stumbled backward, lost his footing as he slipped in the snow, and went down hard on his side.
When he looked up, the man’s arms were raised over his head, the blade angled to drive it through Garrett’s chest. His breath caught.

A police procedural sci fi thriller ripped from future headlines!
After Jake shoots and kills a murder suspect who turns out to be the son of a powerful city councilman, he finds himself demoted to the Artificial Crimes Unit, tracking down androids hacked and programmed to be hit men.
When his case of an “extra-judicial” divorce settlement takes a nasty turn with DNA from a hundred-year-old murder in Boston and a signature that harkens back to the very first serial killer ever in London, Jake finds himself tangled up in the brutal slayings of prostitutes being investigated by his former Robbery/Homicide partner, Maddie–who is now his lover.
But a madman, The Baron, is just getting started with his AI recreations of Jack the Ripper’s brutal crimes. And Maddie and Jake are teamed up again to stop the carnage as the Baron’s army of human replicants imitate history’s most notorious serial killers.
“It might not make sense, but the beloved Media tags it ‘Murder by Munchausen.’ For a price, there are hackers out there who will reprogram a synthoid to do your dirty work. The bad news: no fingerprints or DNA left at the crime scene. The good news—at least for us—is that they’re like missiles: once they hit their target, they’re usually as harmless as empty brass. The trick is to get them before they melt down their core OS data, so you can get the unit into forensics for analysis and, hopefully, an arrest.” [excerpt from Murder by Munchausen]
Artificial Intelligence? Fuhgeddaboudit!
Artificial Evil has a name…Munchausen.
Read an Excerpt
From The Invisible Mind (#3)
It sat on a bench outside the dormitory of nursing students, waiting with its kind’s infinite patience. Originally acquired and programmed for landscaping at the Cleveland Clinic, the synthoid was one of a brigade of units which had been hacked and Munchausened, then returned to their menial daily services to mankind to await the Baron’s call.
There was no adrenalin surge behind the extremely life-like facade of humanity when that call came. Data packets, sent scatter-shot through the Atlas Grid, coalesced at the location outside the Cole Eye Institute, where it methodically trimmed and shaped the immaculate shrubbery around the building. To avoid Q’s metadata sniffing algorithms from detecting a download spike in the grid, the information came in digital sprinkles over the course of its human handler’s work shift, slowly building a malevolent intent to be executed that night. In the middle of the afternoon, it left the topiary unfinished to melt into the hospital shift change and disappeared.
Personality modules were a Gen-3 feature upgrade, which is why the earlier models were initially preferred. Swapping out a few IC chips and uploading hacked firmware was a relatively easy way to turn a quick buck with an automated contract killing. But evil innovates, too, and the same features that made synthoids even more human-like in their behavior also helped create robotic assassins which could better camouflage their malicious intents and evade the reach of the Artificial Crimes Unit by melting into and moving undetected through the humanity that surrounded them. For the Baron, it allowed for a greater measure of artistic expression in programming the synthoid’s behavior to not only recreate infamous crimes of the past, but to mimic the behavior of their perpetrators, which intensified the thrill of watching the video feed through the eyes of Jack the Ripper, Ted Bundy or, this particular evening, Richard Speck. Jake wasn’t the only history buff and it amused Jamal that London police had photographed the eyes of Jack the Ripper’s victims, hoping to capture the last thing they ever saw: their killer’s face. If only Scotland Yard could have imagined the future.
The Gen-3 personality modules also supported the ANSI Adaptive Artificial Intelligence Protocol #9 to enhance the artificial human experience of real men and women who interacted with synthoids. The constant writing and rewriting of code in the personality/experience loop formed unique individual synthoid consciousnesses, which manufacturers uploaded to their servers for product improvement teams to study. In Munchausened units, that feed was hijacked and routed to another portal in the Darknet to build a collective id of evil.
At eleven PM, it rose from the bench and entered the dormitory. The bodies of nine women would be found the next day, having been strangled and stabbed to death. Unlike 1966, no eyewitness was left alive, though the phrase “Born to Raise Hell” was written on the wall in blood.

If you could have one paranormal ability, what would it
be?
Kelly: I think I would most love the
ability to shapeshift… into anything or anyone. To be able to experience
moments as another person or a pet or wild animal would be amazing. Although, I
may spend long periods of time as a cat or dog, sleeping.
Mindy: I would love to have the same
telepathic and telekinetic powers as Jean Gray/Dark Phoenix from the X-Men. I
live in a congested city, so having the power to move people/vehicles out of my
way when I’m trying to get somewhere in a hurry.
What is one thing your readers would be most surprised to
learn about you?
People may be surprised to learn that
Mikea Howard is not one person, but to co-writers, and that we happen to be
sisters-in-law that live on opposite sides of the country.
When writing descriptions of your hero/ine, what feature
do you start with?
We tend to start with their stature.
Our first book described how large the hero was as he loomed over the heroine.
Are you a plotter or a pantser?
We started out as pantsers, and would
write about ⅔ of each book randomly from our seats, before outlining to fill in
the holes. Recently Mindy attempted plotting for our third book, and we are
having a difficult time adapting to that process.
Did you learn anything from writing this book? If
so, what?
From writing this book we learned
that even if we think it’s a standalone, thanks to our expansive world, we have
to be careful how many past story details we add. This was hard for us because
we love adding cameos of our favorite characters in each book.

BLURB
Dottie thought she had it all: a successful singing career,
a handsome fiancé, and a starlet’s wardrobe. Sudden betrayal brought it all
crashing down around her. Those she trusted most played her as nothing more
than a pawn. One misstep while fleeing the scene trapped her in another world
alone, save a mysterious visitor.
Guatimozin, an eagle shifter, has spent ages assisting
people through the realm between life and death, leading them to join loved
ones on either side. No one had ever made him want anything for himself until
he discovered this city girl.
Forces plot against them and time is short. Soon, their
chance for a happily ever after will be too late.
EXCERPT
Dottie wiped the tears from her face. Damn him, and damn his
floosy too. She’d do what her mother constantly threatened her stepdad with,
and remove his cock to wear it proudly on a chain around her neck.
I jus’ gotta find a way out of this kooky forest first.
Making her way back onto her feet, she dusted off her dress
in a mindless motion. The fabric passed beneath her strokes smooth and dirt
free. She studied the once vibrant red dress she’d worn on stage. The satin now
appeared drab and colorless. Her bare feet peeked from beneath its hem, as
clean as the moment she’d dabbed them dry from her bath. The blind sprint from
her dressing room, across town, and up the hill, should have left them covered
in filth.
In exasperation, she threw her arms in the air. “Swell. I
mus’ be dead and I’m . . .”
She moved away from the tree to scrutinize her surroundings.
As much as Dottie hoped she’d end up in heaven, her mother always insisted
that, as a willful child trying to pass as something she wasn’t, her final
destination would be a bit further down.
The sensation of electricity passing through the air made
every hair stand on end as a matter-of-fact reply came from behind. “No, you
aren’t dead, but you’re not exactly alive either. You’re in a realm known as the
in-between.”
Spinning around, Dottie came face to face with a stranger.
Like the tree, he appeared in color, only he wasn’t pink and purple. Instead, a
tall man with reddish tan skin, swirling silver eyes, and waist length striking
black hair, stared at her as though regarding a ghost. Thick muscular arms
crossed over his chest as his shocked expression ease into a slow smirk,
highlighting the defined beak-like nose, high cheekbones, and strong chin
framing his mouth.
Nervously
licking her lips, she couldn’t help but muse, Di Mi. Well hello, sailor.
AUTHOR Bio and Links:
Writing under Mikea Howard, we are actually Mindy Howard and Kelly Smith, sisters-in-law who share a love for romance, usually paranormal. We have spent the last several years reading and sharing books as well as authors, often making comments about how we’d love to write our own when we ran out of things to read.
While based on our TBR piles, we have not run out of reading
material, yet we decided to write when the muse hit Kelly with a dystopian
diesel world and an opening scene with the heroine running out into the woods.
Mindy then saw her hero step in, and The Diesel War series was born.
Mindy is an IT professional at a telecom company. She is
married to a musician and teacher, who also happens to be Kelly’s brother. She
has one adult son and is living out west.
Kelly is a Registered Nurse working in maternal-fetal
medicine. She has a great husband, who happens to be Mindy’s husband’s best
friend. She has one son in high school, one daughter in middle school, and is
living on the east coast.
My life is ordinary, steady, predictable. And I’m okay with that.
Working long shifts at the hospital is all the excitement I need.
But when a simple rescue-attempt goes wrong,
I find myself in the arms of an arrogant, yet sexy FBI agent.
Kai Evans is what I’d call way out of my league. Yet, we end up dating.
Sort of. That’s if you count fast-bike escapes and kissing while
bullets fly around us as a date.
While Kai tries to keep me safe and alive, Tyler Moore–an ex FBI agent
with a smart mouth–slithers into my life. Turns out, Kai and Taylor
have a history. The kind that can’t be erased with a simple handshake.
Now it’s all about settling the score between them, and Taylor has the
perfect weapon to use against Kai…
Katerina Baker is a lucky gal who still attempts to have it all:
full-time project management job that
she enjoys, crazy family of four (with the ongoing threats of getting
a pet to upset the family equilibrium) and writing.
Although on some days she is much
more successful at managing her life than on the others, she still
claims that she doesn’t want it any other way.
Katerina’s latest novel Under
the Scrubs will be published in the spring of 2019 by Limitless
Publishing. Her YA novel Blue is represented by Sharon Belcastro from
Belcastro Agency.

“An action-packed, globe-hopping science fiction thriller… pedal-to-the-metal pacing and relentless action make it easy to turn pages…” ―Kirkus Reviews
“Insane! What Gareth did here was incredible! This author took a global look at America, China, and Russia, and added a species from another era into the mix, to create a well-researched novel of suspense, intrigue, with dashing individuals. The characters travel the world on a unique mission while trying to stay out of the line of fire as rogue government agencies from several different countries try to stop them. It’s a wild ride from California to Peru, from Egypt to Siberia. The amount of research put into this novel is on par with a Michael Crichton novel. The main character, Kelly Graham, reminded me of Dirk Pitt from Clive Cussler’s novels. Overall, an incredible read and a book I’m recommending.” ―Jonas Saul, Best-selling author of the Sarah Roberts Series, April 2017
Suspend disbelief and let yourself travel on a downriver, undersea, and overland adventure in this well-constructed novel. The author takes you on a fast paced journey full of intrigue, government secrets, unusual creatures and just a tad of romance. Superlatives abound and the literary illumination paints an image so clear you feel you are there with the characters. For those who know the author, there are bit of his personality revealed which makes reading the novel even more enjoyable. A bit Tom Clancy, a hint of Dan Brown — authentically Gareth in his debut work. ―Charity Scripture

IN ALMOST EVERY BELIEF SYSTEM ON EARTH, there exists a single unifying mythos: thousands of years ago a great flood devastated the Earth’s inhabitants. From the ruins of this cataclysm, a race of beings emerged from the sea bestowing knowledge and culture upon humanity, saving us from our selfish drive toward extinction. Some say this race were “ancient aliens” who came to assist our evolution.
But what if they weren’t alien at all? What if they evolved right here on Earth, alongside humans . . . and they are still here? And, what if the World’s governments already know?

I feel honored to be one of the first to read Nine by Jane Blythe. I have been loving the Count To Ten series, along with her other novels I have read, but this one really blew my mind!

Jane Blythe never waits for the danger and the hook and comes out of the gate swinging in Nine, and I fear for some of my favorite characters.
Kidnapping and the murder of young girls.
The villain targets a venue that hits too close to home and the kids are in danger. The serial killer has his sights on young girls and their school. He enjoys watching them suffer, revels in their fear.
Early on I knew what was coming, but Jane doesn’t let it end there. She adds a twist. She takes it to a hand wringing, foot tapping level. Not satisfied with the expected story, she ramps it up. It’s not enough to take me on a rollercoaster ride, she has to have me flying over the edge along with the characters into a pit of hell.
I love that the characters are hard as nails when it comes to their police work and the evil that surrounds them, but as squishy soft as a marshmallow when it comes to the kids in their lives. The characters have been put through hell in previous books but that doesn’t stop Jane from adding to their horrible memories , adults and kids alike. I hate it for them, yet love it for me.
OMG Jane. WTF. Hasn’t everyone suffered enough? Blowing my mind where you have taken this. What does it say about me…that I am loving every minute of it. LOL
I love how dark it gets…and it keeps getting darker.
Best one yet. Mind blowing. Terror and horror fill every page as the end builds to a soul crushing tension that made me put if down, regroup, catch my breath, then pick it up again. I don’t know how she can top this. Give me more.
