I will be sharing a lot of dark and gruesome this month, so I wanted to share The Voice of Divine Love by Arlene Dayrit to let you now, there is always light at the end of the tunnel.

I am Participating in #BlogAhead2016

It’s time, once again, for Blog Ahead! Woohoo!

This challenge it’s all about getting ahead and giving yourself a blogging buffer.

It’s amazing how much having extra scheduled posts can make during emergencies, vacations or just when dealing plain ol’ blogging slumps. It can really cut the stress during every day blogging as well 🙂 And what better way to get ahead than with the support of other bloggers?

Ends– Oct 31

Who Can Join?

Anyone who has a blog.

Blog genre/topic doesn’t matter.

You can be a reviewer or an author, brand new, been at it for years, etc.

Everyone is welcome!

Goal:

The goal is to hunker down for the month of October and increase the number of scheduled posts you have by 30.

Ex. On Oct 1st if you have 5 posts scheduled you would then need to end the month with 35 posts scheduled.

Whatever number you’re starting with just add 30 to get your final goal.

MY CURRENT STATUS.

I spent a lot of time blogging ahead. My hubby, Mr Wonderful, has a lot of time off the last six weeks of the year, so I used this challenge as motivation to get ahead, instead of scrambling trying to put something together in between the FUN we have traveling, golfing, and hanging out with family. I feel good about where I ended up. How about you?

Can You Read A Series In A Month

Can You Read a Series in a Month?

Remember the days before book blogging, when you didn’t have a COLOSSAL list of books to read, because you didn’t know about all of them yet? When you discovered a great series and literally just gobbled it up because you had no review book commitments and, quite often, nothing else to read anyway? When you didn’t know about a series until long after it was published from beginning to end and you COULD just binge read the whole thing? Wouldn’t it be fun to do that again? Not to mention, I KNOW you have a least half a dozen series you’ve been dying to read and just haven’t made time for. Which is why Berls and I are challenging you to read an ENTIRE series in a month.

The Rules

Pick 1 series. Yes, just 1. Announce which series you’ve picked on your sign up post.
Read EVERY book in the series. You don’t have to read novellas or short stories, just the core books.
Read them all between 12am (your time) August 1st and 11:59pm (your time) August 31st. They MUST be marked (on Goodreads) as started and finished in the month of August to count.
Enjoy bragging to everyone about how you’re all caught up on whatever series you read (AKA – have fun)!

The Nitty Gritty / Inevitable Questions

Here’s some questions that we’ve anticipated (and asked each other as we figured it out) and we can update this section as we get more questions (assuming there will be).

Q: Can I read more than 1 series?
- I know we have some reading over-achievers out there who want to do more. Go ahead, we’ll cheer you on, but there’s no bonus points or higher levels for reading more than 1.
Q:How many books constitutes a series?
- We’re going to say 3 published books – so if it’s a trilogy it counts. If you want to take on a 40 book series, be our guest. And good luck!
Q: Can I have started the series?
- You can’t reread an ENTIRE series. But if you have less than three books remaining in a series (so 2 or 1) you may reread 1 or 2 books, so that you’re reading 3 books. For example, if you’ve read 3 books in a 5 book series, you could reread 1 book and then read the 2 unread books, bring your total to three.
Q: Does the entire series have to be published and complete?
- No. But there must be at least 3 books published for it to count (or if you’ve already read 1 book, 4 published). So if there’s going to be six books, but only 4 are published and you’ve read the first one, it counts. So if it’s a trilogy that not yet complete, that wouldn’t count.

I saw this fun challenge, Can You Read A Series In A Month, and thought, “I have the perfect series to read”. I recently won the third book in the Rick Yancey series, The 5th Wave, from Jessica @ a Great Read. When I read it had been made into a movie I checked it out further and found the first two books in a bundle on Amazon and they were on sale, so I grabbed them.

Will I read more than one…I don’t know.

Did Someone Say Dragons?

One of my favorite mythological creatures are dragons. I love them and enjoy sharing books about them. I have yet to find one in my kitchen, but ya just never know where they may appear. Movie Marathon – Jesse Stone, Tom Selleck & Robert B Parker

Here I am, doing my normal when Mr Wonderful has to work on a Saturday, blogging, reading and watching TV. What’s this? OMG, its a Jesse Stone Movie Marathon and I am all in.

I am a huge Tom Selleck fan from the Magnum PI days and I just watched Three Men and a Baby for the umpteenth time. He has those boyish good looks that I find hard to resist.

I am also a huge Jesse Stone and Robert B Parker fan. I have read many of his books and I must thank the library for that. I used to go in and clear the shelf of his books, loving bringing them home, stacking them, putting them in order of publication and..Then…the good part. I would begin reading. One after the other. I devoured them, reading for hours on end.

It is sad that Robert B Parker is no longer with us, but if Tom Selleck has his way, he will live on.

Notice any similarities?

NOW…a Jesse Stone marathon and I am loving every minute of it, watching them one right after another.

His drinking and his ex wife haunt him. I like having a beer or a glass of wine, while I am sitting alone, hubby working late, or working one of his freelance gigs. It seems so…special somehow. Not sure if that’s the right word, but I enjoy it.

Mr Wonderful just got home from a gig and he’s sleeping. Jesse is having the first of his two Scotches and I am having a glass of wine and loving every minute of it.

Women are drawn to him. He is a fair man and walks a fine line when it comes to the law. He breaks it when there is no other way, but the bad guys deserve everything they get. He works with some not so good citizens to get a better result and it seems to work out for him and them too. But there is still a line not to be crossed.

Reggie makes me want to reach out and pet him, but I know, like Jesse, he does not want that. His dogs…well they seem to be as damaged as him. BUT Reggie will be there, a comforting and stoic partner.

I love Suitcase and Rose.

Rose, Kathy Baker. I love to watch her character grow and develop. She is such a good person.

Suitcase, Kohl Sudduth, what can I say about Suitcase. A kid in a man’s body, he looks up to Stone and strives to be more like him, but he has a huge sense of right and wrong, black and white. Will he find the gray that seems to me rules life?

I love them all! The trio make a great team.

They reside in a small coastal town, where everyone knows your business, yet he has no time for boredom. Whether it’s helping a lost teenager get back on track, showing a woman mercy because of a past transgression…

Life has unintended consequences and sometimes justice is found in the oddest ways.

I love when I sit down, turn on the TV and come across such a great, unexpected surprise. I spent all day watching – one right after the other – and hated for it to end.

What a fantastic way to spend a cool, wintry day.

2015 Goodreads Reading Challenge Update

I read 232 books and my goal was 125, 186%.

I read 50,613 pages.

My shortest book, Killer Treads by Anthony Renfro was 13 pages.

My longest book, Bones by Mark Wheaton was 720 pages.
