The Sheriff Meets His Match came to me back on October 21, 2016. I think I received a copy for following her newsletter, but I put it on my review list, read it, and promptly forgot about it. đ
I loved the cover and it sounded like a fun read. Plus, being a novella, it would be a quick one. I am happy to be marking this off my review list and sharing it with you.
I was smiling from the getgo. I love a hunky, needy character like Sheriff Jack, who isn’t taking himself too seriously. I feel the humor and fun will be coming in waves and it all starts when he pulls over his sexy new secretary, Laurel Thomas, for driving like a crazy person on the snow covered road…and the mystery begins.
I love when I can relate to the little things, like using my credit card to scrape the ice off my windshield. I left the cold for Florida and Laurel Thomas left Florida for the cold. lol
The descriptive writing made the scenes easy to visualize the car sliding, fishtailing on the slippery snow covered road, the deputy knocking his hat against his leg to clean it of snow, her sexy legs as she slides out of the car, the Charlie Brown Christmas tree…you get the drift. đ
He comes to her rescue, only to nearly bowl her over, banging her head, with his gun drawn. Even in danger, there is humor.
“Men. You can’t live with them, and you can’t shoot ’em. It’s a felony.”
A snowball flew…I found myself snorting, laughing through it all. I love the little details that make the story feel real.
It’s obvious, the story is a romance, so we will have plenty of that. It’s the journey that makes The Sheriff Meets His Match so much fun. There is danger, but I got so caught up in the characters themselves, that their personalities and antics is what I remember most.

Jane Blythe is a fabulous author that has given me hours of reading pleasure, so I am glad to be back in the saddle series again with Christmas Victim and Savannah and Jett.
Christmas Victim by Jane Blythe was released on 12.1.19, just in time for the holidays.
I love a series where each story is complete, but recurring characters make appearances, refusing to stay by the sidelines, and Christmas Victim by Jane Blythe is one of those stories. This time we will get the low down on Savannah and Jett and find out if their second chance romance will work out.
Savannah had worked for the FBI, but injuries suffered in the line of duty have made it impossible for her to continue. Now, her job as a crime scene technician may be in jeopardy. Savannah is afraid to try to walk again, afraid to know if physical therapy will work or will she be stuck the wheelchair forever. I like how Jane Blythe dealt with her fears and insecurities. It makes it easier to understand why some people are afraid to try and move forward, paralyzed with fear. It takes a good support team and Savannah’s struggle reads like a true story of those stuggles. At times, I wanted to tell Savannah to get over herself, but who am I to judge what is right for her. I have never ‘walked’ in her shoes. Savannah is like a cat and I wonder how many lives she has left.
Savannah’s cat, Sequin (because of her spots that looked like sequins), refused to use a little box and just had to go out…at night. Okay, at night, in a wheelchair without any protection or even her cell phone, I know something bad is coming her way…but, she hears shots fired at her new neighbor’s house.
Finn, a doctor, and Chloe, am FBI agent, had worked through their problems and were now happily married with a little one on the way. She was going to spend the night with Savannah…but they found her unconscious on the ground suffering a head injury and hypothermia. Hasn’t Savannah been through enough JANE? An author after my own heart. She puts her characters through hell…repeatedly. LOL
Violet is missing and Jett has returned to work the case. And the dance of romance begins…along with the mystery. He was the one responsible for telling her to move there. He feels it is his responsibility to get her back. Jett knows who took her, the stalker she was hiding from, but the stalkers knows all the ins and outs to staying off the radar and has been impossible to locate. He and Jett have a connection and this has become the villain’s favorite game to play. He won’t go down easy.
Savannah had sent Jett away. She felt he had let her down and she could not count on him when the chips were down. This time…well, he wants her back and won’t take no for an answer.
Violet will go through hell, beatings, torture, sexual assault, but she never quits. He believes she belongs to him and will never let her go. What is the meaning of love?
When he punched her, it was only out of love. A love he wanted her to reciprocate. A love he WOULD get her to reciprocate.
Be careful if you do something to make him angry. He came from a brutal, disgusting, appalling despicable, depraved home, but he had made something of himself…or did he? Was he just good at hiding who he really was. I love stories that delve into the mind of monsters.
WOW. I am stunned, not sure what I think. HE took Jane Blythe to a really dark place and I love getting into his mind, trying to see what makes him tick, his thoughts and feelings. There were a couple of things that bothered me, but were easy to overlook. It allowed the story to continue and gave it that little twist that lets us know, monsters don’t go down easy.
Another wild ride that does NOT make for light Christmas reading, but if you are looking for the boogie man that comes out at night, this may just work for you. LOL This is the third book in the series of recurring characters, but each story is told in its entirety.

I have been a collector of all things Unicorn for some time now, so when I saw the opportunity to read The Unicorn Key by J A Culican, I had to jump on it. I’m prancing with joy that this is a series because I want more.
I love a story with unicorns, but there are so many other supernatural and mythical creatures to fear and love, that I barely had a moment to catch my breath as the threesome set off on a dangerous quest to find the Diamond.
An unlikely duo appears at Freya’s door. Opal is a young ‘girl’ with pink and purple hair and a gruff attitude, making it hard to like her. Jet is a young ‘boy’ with blue hair and a lighthearted demeanor, making it easy to like him.
Freya’s grandfather had a stroke and had not spoken in years, but when the duo arrived on their doorstep, he told her she must join them on their quest to find the Diamond and save them from the Darkness that is taking over the land.
River volunteers his services in reading the map, which is in a code they cannot decipher. Can he be trusted…or is he after the Diamond for himself.
Trouble is sure to find them as they enter the woods, travel to distant mountains and come face to face with Baxil. They will encounter many supernatural creatures and have others join in their quest.
Unicorns are not extinct, just very well hidden. Like elephants and rhinos in our world, they are valued for their horns.
I love the Diamond twist.
The action ramps up as their journey nears its end. The characters grow, develop, and show their true colors, while forming a family of sorts, with a little romance thrown in for good measure.
The world building is magical, supernatural, and the more I read, the more I got lost in it, worrying, fretting, and wondering how the Diamond would save their world.
I love this quote:
I would never make the mistake of letting my fear stop me again. Life was too fragile, too uncertain to risk never getting the chance again.
Their quest is over, but there will more to the story and I look forward to being there for it.

Not
until two weirdoes turned up at my door asking to speak to my

Cassiopeia, I found myself leaving the comfort of the only home I’d

I’d ever met.
As elusive as they are strange, I only followed
in the hope that whoever Cassiopeia was, she would help my grandfather.
However these two are looking for a rare diamond and my own quest means
nothing to them. They are hiding secrets of their own, secrets that
neither is willing to share.
Thankfully, they enlist a
navigator to help them through the perilous terrain, a local bad boy and
money grabber only interested in one thing…and no it isn’t me.
With
the three of them dead set on finding the diamond and me out to find
Cassie, tension is high, and it’s not helping that the dark fae know we
are looking and will stop at nothing to keep hold of the diamond. Add

my life takes on a terrifying turn, which nothing has prepared me for.

Doctor Alicia Reese suffered the devastating loss of her husband and was in a delicate place when Lucas walked into her office with paralyzing panic attacks.
I was reading along, then went back to the blurb, wondering if this book was going to be about love, loss and recovery and just a ho hum read, WHEN it took a sharp turn.
I had a general idea of where Deborah Serani was going to take me, but after the phone call…that revved it up for me.
I was very curious how it would all play out because it’s only 188 pages and I felt like time was running out. My suspense level rose, the tension increased, pace got faster and I felt I had to know.
Yeah, the cover drew my interest, but the title and blurb set me up for an even better story than I anticipated. I do like book surprises, don’t you? And this was one wild ride in the inner thoughts of Lucas and Alicia.

MY REVIEW FOR PSYCHO INSIDE ME
Action from the getgo.
The sheriff’s son, Deegan, helps the preacher’s daughter cover up the death of bad boy Bobby. They were friends, but this changed their relationship, brought them closer.
Her instinct was to take his ring for a trophy, but Deegan had a better idea. A tattoo.
The death changed her and now she is on the run. She is fueled by nightmares of Bobby, but determined not to be caught.
Are monster born or raised? That age old question, what creates a monster? I am always curious about what drives people to do some of the most heinous acts to others.
Justice doesn’t always come to the rescue and sometimes taking the matter into your own hand is the only answer. I do believe the world has a lot more grey, than black and white.
I didn’t see the direction Bonnie R Paulson was going to take with Psycho Inside me, but I do love the Bonnie and Clyde vigilante aspect. I can always relate to a vigilante and I guess that says something about me. LOL She is a badass psycho and I love her…and her boyfriend too. I feel her need to take down the bullies and pedophiles that prey on children. They do deserve the worst that can be heaped on them…and her name is Cassie.
She trained. She is only a young teenager, but she becomes a predator, created by those whotreated her as prey. I love how she is changing from her 13 year old innocent ways, forcing herself to become a calculating weapon of justice. Fine by me is she wipes out the perverts. You may feel the same way after reading about the degenerates.
The world is dark, with rays of sun shining through when the clouds lift in her mind.
How will this end? Will she be killed in one of the attacks? I want it to end well for her, regardless of what she has done. I love a characters that can win me over so completely.
Molestation and sexual assault are difficult subjects to face and talk about, but Bonnie R Paulsonwants you to know…YOU ARE NOT ALONE..you can survive.
Psycho Inside Me by Bonnie R Paulson….BLEW MY MIND.
I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Psycho Inside Me by Bonnie R Paulson.
I’m going over the falls and into deep water. And I go willingly.
Maria hated waiting for the death part. The fun was in the lead-in to the final act – the revenge.
The creepiness of the cover drew me in and after reading the blurb, I was hooked. Knowing whatâs inside only whet my appetite for blood. And I got it. Right from the getgo. From the opening pages the knife was cutting, the blood flowing, the torture beyond belief. It wasnât enough to kill. It must be a long, drawn out, painful and excruciating death. And Maria reveled in it.
Samantha and Maria are at odds with each other. Samantha wants to love Doctor Luke Lawson, while Maria wants to kill him. Call them the Threat Specialists – one is proud, the other horrified. What is the end game? What creates someone so twisted, reveling in brutality, savagery, enjoying the kill? Maybe you will find out…if you read Dictating Death by Bonnie R Paulson

MY REVIEW FOR WATCH ME BURN
Levi had been burned in the romance department, so when Megan hit on him, he did all he could to avoid her. But she wanted him and friendship was not enough. Even though Chelsea had already staked her claim.
How far will she go to hold onto Levi? Are they living a story of Fatal Attraction?
Levi and Chelsea’s relationship was toxic. Now he feels he must remain along…hiding.
When he saw the FOR RENT sign, I thought, “OH NO!” The game is on.
Such a twisted, perverted definition of love, which could turn fatal. Will it? And for whom?
Stalking. Abuse. Rape.
Pathetic excuse for a man. How can he be ‘trained’ to accept his role? Can you fix what is so badly broken?
Not enough time passed for Chelsea to win Megan’s trust, but the story is short, so I can see why things happend so fast. I would love to see Bonnie R Paulson flesh the story out and take it to an even deeper, darker level. BUT, I love it. Twisting and turning to the end.

Psycho Inside Me
I
killed my first victim at thirteen years old â my age, not his. He was
going to rape me, him and a couple of his friends. And so, I killed him.
And then⌠I killed again. And again.
At seventeen, Iâm killing
four to six times a year â maybe more. Donât stress out. I only go
after the pedophiles and rapists. There are more out there than I could
cover in a lifetime.
Saying I did this on my own would be
selfish. Enforcing justice holds a glory all its own. But now, my
lifelong friend and backup, Deegan, has been arrested. I have to decide
if I want to give myself up and take his place or leave him with all the
damning evidence. I donât want to stop killing. But if I let him take
the fall, I canât kill anymore. And I need to keep doing that.
But the worst part of it all? I love him.
Dictating Death
Samantha wants to love him.
Maria wants to kill him.
Dr.
Luke Lawson has no idea that the girl heâs dating has split
personalities fighting to control her body. Samantha must keep Luke safe
at all costs.
If Samantha wins, Maria will die and disappear forever â taking Samantha with her.
If Maria wins, Dr. Lawson will die and she and Samantha will move on to the next doctor â the next kill.
But Luke is special.
He could save Samantha from herself⌠but only if Samantha can save him.
Watch Me Burn
Levi
Iâve been in love and it hurts.
We hurt each other.
On purpose.
I canât escape the guilt.
Megan
I donât want to be just friends with Levi.
But I will be.
Heâs been hurt before and I just want to be there for him.
Someone needs to be on his side.
Chelsea
Levi Cole is mine.
I want him.
She can’t have him.
She needs to die.

Extinct by Ike Hamill has an awesome cover, so I had to take a walk into the woods, during a blizzard to find out WTH is going on.
Robby is an intellectual young boy, always analyzing, so when the freak snowstorm hits on Thanksgiving and people began to go missing, he began questioning…everything.
Well, I’m still no sure exactly what’s going on and neither is our gang of survivors…that keeps dwindling in numbers. Vanishing into thin air, eyeballs popping our of their heads, ‘water’ devouring anything it touches…
This ragtag band keeps moving, not always forward, but sticking together, going the extra mile, doing whatever they can to save our world.
The characters come and go and at each juncture in their adventure I wonder who will vanish next. Where do they go? Who is taking them?
The world building is so richly detailed I could follow the thin blue line with them and we all know in troubled times peoples true colors are exposed.
Well, this has been one wild ride, danger around every corner and the mystery of ‘them’ hangs in every word. Good thing Book II, Instinct is ready and available, because I want to know. It looks like…so far…there are five books, so you will be seeing more of Ike Hamill’s work on fundinmental.

“Too many twists and turns to easily share about this book. Nevertheless, Carr has pulled off another “hit” that kept me reading in one setting until the clues were so well together that the villain fell into our laps…or Chris’s, LOL Carr has put a lot into the book beyond the mysteries this time…Characters enjoyed chocotinis, visited book stores…and even blundered into getting engaged (the ring had been purchased 4 months ago)… But, for me, a special thank you for the political spoof at a time when politics at the national level is devastating, gave me a laugh and lightened the load of it all!” – Review by Glenda Bixler, Book Reader’s Heaven
MY REVIEW
The Geezer Squad is back, along with the rest of the gang, and I am so happy to joining in the mystery, fun and lovin’ The family that solves a murder together, stays together. lol I am amped up, ready for some murder, mystery and laughs, with two and four legged characters combines.
Sometimes it is hard to write a review and this is one of those times. The words won’t seem to come, even though I loved The Last Thing She Said. There was lot of mystery and suspects, clues to follow, some lead to nowhere and others lead to more mystery.
I saw Shannon’s mystery coming and I’m eager for the investigation to begin. The Geezer Squad is called into action. They morphed from a book club to a cold case investigating team and they are very, very good at it. A bunch of retired law enforcement that hates to let the bad guy get away.
Sterling…well…what can I say about Sterling:
“Oh, what a beautiful German Shepherd!”…”And he’s wearing sunglasses!”
Lauren Carr’s descriptive writing brings all her characters and their worlds to life in vivid detail sometimes making me bust out in laughter, other times I am completely absorbed in the investigative details.
The whole Buttwrinkle thing had me LAUGHING OUT LOUD!
The past and present collide as the dead refuse to stay dead , and mysteries and suspects run riot through the pages. I love how Lauren Carr allows characters from her other series to make an appearance.
I went from curious to ticked off, to confused, to happy and laughing as I flipped through the pages, guessing and cyphering the clues.
I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of The Last Thing She Said by Lauren Carr.

Mercedes Livingston said to seven-year-old Chris Matheson before walking

“Filled with twists and turns, Winter Frost
reads perfectly well as a stand-alone, although it is part of a series.
The author creates tension and suspense throughout by keeping the
reader guessing; she keeps readers engaged with well fleshed out
characters and a dash of humor. Sterling, the retired German Shepherd
police dog turned card shark, is a new favorite. As the story flows, the
truth unfolds, layer by layer, leading to a satisfying conclusion.
“Winter Frost was an entertaining, at times humorous read with suspense, some surprises, and even cute animals in the mix.” Review of Winter Frost by The iRead Review
Book Description: It all started with a chance encounter in the city with Blair, his late wife.

working under the guise of a book club, dig into the events surrounding
his late wifeâs supposed death halfway around the globe. A state
department employee shoots himself in the back three times. A CIA
operative goes missing. A woman is targeted by an international assassin
three years after being declared dead in a terrorist attack overseas.
Nothing is as it seems.
In his most personal cold case,
Chris fights to uncover why the state department told him that Blair,
the mother of his children, had been killed when she was alive. What had
she uncovered that has made her a target? Who terrified her so much
that she had gone into hiding and why are they now after him?

“ICE is a
strong start to a new series that will have fans of Lauren Carr thrilled
to be introduced to another set of memorable and entertaining
characters. Carr’s Geezer Squad has brought sexy back to mature men and
women, whose kickass attitude and smarts sizzle as they melt the clues
to those cold cases!” Laura Fabiani, Library of Clean Reads
“For the whodunit mystery buff who loves ever-increasing suspense and
danger, Lauren Carr’s newest series offers up a big dose of both. Murder
and mayhem seem to be Chris’s new companions after returning home
following the loss of both his wife and his father. Juggling the
parenting responsibilities of his three daughters with his mother is not
something Chris was expecting at this point in his life, but life isn’t
something that goes as planned.” 5-Star Review at Blooming with Books
