Because I live in Florida, I am super curious to read about Danny Rolling.

MY REVIEW

I would think there is no one in Florida who hasn’t heard of Danny Rolling and seeing I live here, I wanted to know more. A book taking place in a familiar location has that little bit extra.

Serial killers….Nature? Nurture? Born evil? Made evil? We can beat the subject to death, but to me the plain truth is…they made the choice…and they need to pay the price for that choice.

J T Hunter covered all the basics and then some. I want to know what makes the bad guy tick, but will that ever really be known? And what makes a woman want to be his penpal, his fiancee, his wife? Now, that, I will never understand. And that raises the question of rights. Why should we make the criminal comfortable and be treated fairly, when he…did what he did. He didn’t give two hoots in hell, so why should we?

Facts don’t tell the whole story, but how can we believe what comes out of his mouth?

And what about the innocents caught in the crossfire…those accused…their lives ruined? The media has a big responsibility and, all too often, I feel they abuse it. I won’t got into a big rant about them, but just look at the shape of the news delivered to you today via radio and TV and tell me you believe what they say and feel they are covering all the things that are pertinent to your life or just splashing the ugly across the headlines.

A Monster of All Time by J T Hunter is a true story that riled up a lot of emotions and ethical and moral questions. We all have to figure out those answers for ourselves.

Fact & Fiction Collide in Zombieland – Law and Addiction by Mike Papantonio @americaslawyer

My thanks go out to Mike Papantonio and a friend, Jeff Weeks. Jeff hosts Conversations With Jeff on WSRE, the PBS station where Mr Wonderful works, so I am able to learn of what’s happening in the world a little earlier than others…sometimes. Sometimes I visit the set to meet an author or sometimes a little something comes my way without me doing anything, like Law and Addiction. Thanks again guys!

MY REVIEW

Mike Papantonion has done an excellent job in showing how greed and corruption can be carried to such an extreme that bodies are falling by the thousands and towns are dying because of it. Truly horrifying!

Let;s look at it through an attorney’s eye…though it is fiction, I feel Mike Papantonio shares a lot of himself in Law and Addiction.

I am not going to get on a pedestal and rant, but I do not think the media has done a good enough job of covering this epidemic that the United States is facing today. I had heard of it, but kinda shrugged it off, thinking….it would never affect me. Thank goodness it hasn’t, directly, but as I read Law and Addiction so many things were brought to light that I couldn’t just shrug it off any longer. I feel everyone would benefit from reading this and be aware…companies and the government are not always there to help you. It is up to YOU to stay educated and aware of the things going on around you.

Now…to the fiction…we have to have a character, a good guy that has no idea what he is getting into when he tries to make the culprits responsible for his brother’s overdose pay. I love how Jake showed no fear, no hesitation, believing all things are possible. He doesn’t know what he’s in for and that’s a good thing, because he might have stopped before he ever started if he knew what was up ahead.

Mike Papantonio does a good job of showing the process…the legalities…the paper mountains…the brick walls…and the determination and patience necessary to take on Goliath, the ‘American drug cartel’ and ride the Oxy Express (I-75). There is a side story that comes about and more criminals are waiting for their moment to rear their greedy, ugly heads and take advantage of those less fortunate.

Everything really amped up from Chapter 33 on. Blurry, tear filled eyes were happening and I was surprised at that…ya know, this is a legal thriller, not the romantic suspense that I devour. But, it is not dry and boring. It is not all bad and sad, even though Jake is put through hell and I didn’t know if he would make it or not. The characters grow as individuals and as a group, making a family, of sorts. It is not all gloom and doom, we do have some smiles and laughs, love and romance, along the way. All the things necessary for a well rounded life in the thriller world. Law and Addiction read like a true story…even the far fetched parts were plausible.

Ghost Storm by Jessie Renee was published on 9.3.15 and has sat in my Documents on Kindle for, well, probably, almost that long. Why it took me so long to visit Hidden Bay, I can’t say for sure, but, now that I have, I would like to return again…and again.

I was so happy to visit these wonderful characters and Hidden Bay, where nothing is at it seems and there is a special someone that will help to soothe the lost souls, maybe even find a little romance in Ghost Storm, an engrossing supernatural tale that left me wanting to revisit them.

Fact & Fiction – River Passage by P M Terrell @pmterrell

P M Terrell is a very talented author and I have been reading my way through all her books. Whether paranormal or historical, I have loved everyone of them. River Passage has a personal meaning for her and I found it fascinating.

MY REVIEW

First thing, I would recommend reading this before Songbirds Are Free, which I didn’t do. River Passage is the characters journey to the west, which is based on a true story that revolves around the Donelson Party and Mary Neely, P M Terrell’s ancestor.

The writing brings the story to life, all the danger of the Indians, the rapids of the river, the threat of starvation and anything else you can think of during those times. I cannot imagine what they went through and some of it broke my heart, yet gave me hope and inspiration for those who would not give up.

I have a feeling, if they had an idea of how long their four week trip was going to be, many of them would have chose to stay where they were. I tried to walk in their footsteps through P M Terrell’s words, but I just couldn’t get there as I sat here on my cozy lounger.

P M Terrell continues to entertain and amaze me and I look forward to reading more of her work.

Christmas In July – Merry Me by Amanda Siegrist @amanda_siegrist

How about some holiday romance during the summer heat. A perfect read for the pool or beach, Merry Me (A Holiday Romance Novel #1), by Amanda Siegrist can hit the spot.

I have read and enjoyed many of Amanda Siegrist’s novels and to have some romance and Christmas cheer in July is very welcome.

Elliot’s mother loved Christmas, the smells, the music, so Elliot did too. But, now, his mother is gone. His father tried to make it good for them, but Elliot had closed his heart, not letting anyone in.

The mystery gift..

Merry Me by Amanda Siegrist is an uplifting, heartwarming, karma – give good get good and it comes back to you – sacrifice, love and clean romance. At times it will cool you off and other times it will heat up your reading. This wonderful romance is perfect for any time of year.

Christmas In July – Winter Wonderland by Jane Blythe @jblytheauthor

There is more happening in July than the beach, so let’s celebrate Christmas In July with Jane Blythe’s Winter Wonderland. I love the old time feel of the cover and, of course, the bullet holes got my attention.

MY REVIEW

The chills will come from more than the Winter Wonderland and Jane does manage to give me a steady supply. Though Winter Wonderland is the second book, Jane recaps Book I, A Secret To The Grave.

We start out with screeching tires and a screaming voice on a cold winter’s night. Did we get your attention? Made me sit up straight.

Detective Parker Bell is a very patient man and he will need all of that for his love interest, Tess. She is super private, not sharing her nightmares that haunt her sleep. She has a knack for reading people and can whip up a scrumptious pancake. The only place she feels safe is in Parker’s arms, but even her love for him has not overcome her trust issues. Parker can wait, he is strong, heroic, determined, loving…and did I say patient.

THE ICEMAN IS BACK…”death or capture, those are the only things that will end this…”

Jane Blythe does a fabulous job with the description of HIS hiding place. You will have to find it for yourself, though.

The ease with which HE creeps through the houses and takes THEM makes me wonder how that would work in real life. I love a book that gets my mind revved up, and Jane Blythe is doing it just fine. I can’t imagine how terrifying it would be to wake up, gasping for breath, a gun pointed at my head.

The past keeps coming back, complicating an already complicated scenario. The poor girls. I can’t imagine how they felt, the utter hopelessness, helplessness…

So freakin’ creepy. Never a dull moment. It may seem easy, at times, to decipher the plot, but Jane Blythe will NOT reveal HIM, until she is good and ready…and I do love that about her. Is she setting me up for something? Wouldn’t surprise me a bit.

I am only now at 42%…and Parker…WTF?

Wave after wave of shocks and surprises flow through the pages. Good luck trying to figure it out before Jane is ready to tell you. I wanted to scream and yell at them, tell them to look…please look…think Tessa, she told you…

Think the story is over, brace yourself. I did. One shock after another. Danger, threats…doesn’t quit, but I do see something good coming out of it. I could not stop reading. Kept me guessing who would live and who would die. Teeth gritting tenseness, gripping the kindle tightly, wishing, hoping…Can’t die…Can’t die…

Whew. I feel rode hard and put up wet.

Elaine Kaye writes a really cute series with Gregory Green as a very curious youngster who has some marvelous adventures. The Missing Alphabet is a fabulous addition to the series and one I think will capture your child’s attention.

I adored this cute mystery of The Missing Alphabet and enjoyed the colorful illustrations and adventure Gregory Green embarks on with his fellow students, working together, searching, thinking, collaborating…I believe it will have children thinking and I could picture your child on your lap, bouncing in eager anticipation to begin their own search for The Missing Alphabet, an interactive story that will delight children of all ages.

The One Taste series is a wonderful look at four women, BFF’s, and the hunky men they meet and fall in love with. Of course, there has to be some danger involved…right?

It started with a one night stand…but I know it won’t end there.

I love revisiting the series with characters I have come to love and I am eager to see what life and death situation will arise.

Stitch, an appropriate nickname seeing he does stitch tattoos. He is terrified of commitment, yet keeps mooning over the one that got away. He thinks he will be nothing but bad news for Susan, a forensic police officer. She was hurt when he never called, but she is determined to not give him a second chance to break her heart.

I do like me a bad boy and wanted to know Stitch’s story after meeting him in One Taste of Crazy. His intensity does wear me out just reading about it. Kudos to those who can rein him in.

I have loved hanging out with these four lovely ladies and learning their individual stories. They keep making appearances, so I am able to stay updated on their lives as they progress.

Two figures who battle their emotions as they struggle to make sense of their relationship. Susan also has to deal with disgruntled coworkers. There is plenty of mystery and action.

Heavy on the romance and the characters personal struggles. Wonderfully fun and sexy.

Rylie is special. Her mother gave her up when she was a baby to keep her safe, but now her birthday is approaching and there is nowhere to hide.

I was quickly intrigued…faeries…I haven’t read a lot of them. Once she met Kallan I became hooked. Even though there is a triangle, it doesn’t bother me, the guys are two separate beings and that just adds to my curiosity…which will she choose…and why.

My only problem, I was just getting hot and heavy into the book and it ended. I need more.

A little bird told me, as I was searching for the elusive creature n the sky, that a mystery was brewing and I am eager for another adventure with Fred and Watson. I am having such a good time with Mildred Abbott’s cozy corgi series. If you are a dog lover you may enjoy Watson, an incorrigible treat eater. I believe each book can stand alone and can be read in any order, but always best to begin at the beginning. Each is its own mystery, but the characters do grown and develop along the way.

Even though Fred has a romantic interest with the local cop, she has to get involved. Is it because she doesn’t trust the cops to get the job done? Her and Watson put a lot of miles on their feet, which her feet sometimes end up in her mouth, but she always gets her man…or woman and everyone know its.including the bad guys.

Watson is special in his own right, seeming to sense wha is necessary and taking the appropriate action.

Plenty of suspects that kept me guessing. A sometimes humorous and lightly written cozy with wonderfully unique and quirky characters. Another great edition to the series.

Reading the Cozy Corgi series is pretty much all you need to know about Mildred. In real life, she’s obsessed with everything she writes about: Corgis, Books, Cozy Mountain Towns, and Baked Goods. She’s not obsessed with murder, however. At least not at her own hands (nor paid for… no contract killing here). But since childhood, starting with Nancy Drew, trying to figure out who-dun-it has played a formative role in her personality. Having Fred and Watson stroll into her mind was a touch of kismet.
