We share our reviews and giveaways, giving you two views and two chances to win!

Today we are happy to share Scraps of Paper by one of our favorite authors, Kathryn Meyer Griffith. There are 5 books in the series and our her best sellers.

MY REVIEW

I love the cover for Scraps of Paper by Kathryn Meyer Griffith…and that tagline…how could I possibly resist? I feel a sense of foreboding. The book is free everywhere, so feel free to grab a copy.

After two stagnant years of her life, Abigail has found out that her husband, Joel, had been murdered. Misery put her on the road in search of a new life.

She was determined to become a new person.

To find time to live and love.

Spookie Town called to her.

The past and the present merge and the mystery grows.

I love the direction she goes to solve the mystery of Emily and her kids disappearances. She moves into the an empty house and begins to find Scraps of Paper. To find the answers to the mystery makes me think of a scavenger hunt.

Kathryn Meyer Griffith has a way with words and once I begin one of her books, it is hard to put it down. So true with Scraps of Paper. I felt Abigail’s pain and her need to find a way to go on after her husband’s death. When she moves into the empty house, the former tenants mystery becomes hers. She feels a need to find out happened to them because we all need answers…don’t we?

Since childhood I’ve been an artist and worked as a graphic designer in the corporate world and for newspapers for twenty-three years before I quit to write full time. But I’d already begun writing novels at 21, over forty-six years ago now, and have had twenty-seven (nine romantic horror, two horror novels, two romantic SF horror, one romantic suspense, one romantic time travel, one historical romance, four thrillers, one non-fiction short story collection, and six murder mysteries) previous novels, two novellas and twelve short stories published from various traditional publishers since 1984. But I’ve gone into self-publishing in a big way since 2012; and upon getting all my previous books’ full rights back for the first time in 35 years, have self-published all of them. My Dinosaur Lake novels and Spookie Town Murder Mysteries (Scraps of Paper, All Things Slip Away, Ghosts Beneath Us, Witches Among Us and What Lies Beneath the Graves) are my best-sellers.

I’ve been married to Russell for over forty years; have a son, two grandchildren and a great-granddaughter and I live in a small quaint town in Illinois. We have a quirky cat, Sasha, and the three of us live happily in an old house in the heart of town. Though I’ve been an artist, and a folk/classic rock singer in my youth with my late brother Jim, writing has always been my greatest passion, my butterfly stage, and I’ll probably write stories until the day I die…or until my memory goes.

I have read several books by Sue Coletta and she gave me Wings of Mayhem just because. I love serial killers…well, books about serial killers….and Sue kept me enthralled in the first book of The Mayhem Series.

I am lovin’ the Baxter and Holt detective series and definitely want more of them!

Snowman…but not one you ever want to meet

Baxter and Holt are partners, but not matter how hard Laura tries, she can’t keep her hands off of Jack and awakes with him…in her bed. Then the phone rings.

‘They’ had her…Meredith, Holt’s daughter. Is it payback for the sins of the father?

Snowman is a big time drug dealer looking to expand his business. Holt knew it was him.

I can hardly wait to ride shotgun in another breathtaking mystery filled with danger and suspense.

Jen, his wife, is a class A BITCH.

Alyssa…OMG…the horror humans are capable of rears its ugly head.

The girls…they are playing a frightening, dangerous game.

Young girls, sex trafficking and all the horrors that entails make me livid, my skin crawls…

Another top notch, gut wrenching, white knuckled thriller by Leslie Wolfe. I love Laura Baxter, an in your face, I’ll do it my way and you’ll like it woman. And Holt, her partner…two peas in a pod. Bring it on!

MY REVIEW

Just looking at the creepy cover makes me cringe, yet I open it with sweet anticipation, looking forward to a great scare with same laughs, which I know Jason Parent is more than willing to provide.

With a name like Clive, I foresee some bad things coming his way. Will he be the victim or the perpetrator? We shall see.

The doctor cut open his head to remove…something…only to find everything is okay. He stitched him back up, offered an apology, and wanted him to go away. I’m sorry, but that wouldn’t work for me, and I don’t think it will work for Clive either. OMG! The nerve of the idiot moron doctor! If I was Clive, I probably would have killed him on the spot.

That is the present…NOW…let’s go to the past and find out how and why he got into this spot to begin with.

Detective Samantha Reilly was a hardened detective leading the investigation into a young girl’s death. She was inured to the brutality humans inflicted upon each other. Knowing Jason, I see more dead bodies on the horizon and a truly evil killer.

As soon as we went under the bridge, I knew where Jason was taking me. Now, I’m waiting for the twist.

Chester and Derek…OMG…I laughed so hard I cried. I love that Jason Parent packs so much action, along with the darkness and laughs, leaving me wanting more.

Chester, I wonder what’s going to happen to Chester. Every time I think about him, I try to imagine the details of his home, how and what he eats, and his dining accommodations. I wonder what Chester hopes to accomplish.

I shivered and freaked out a little. Spiders are one of my favorite critters to read about because they make me so uncomfortable. Talk about stepping outside my comfort zone.

Well, that didn’t go the way I thought and that is one of the reasons I love Jason Parent’s writing. He mixes genres seamlessly, dark horror and comedy with lots of action, and creates some amazing villains. Can’t hear so well? Have a stuffy nose? Well…

Jason, you did it again. Took me to a place filled with suspense and tension and a pace that kept me reading, wanting to know what was on the next page, and the next one…

I can hardly wait to get my hands on Victoria, Book II and the final book in the series.

Jason Parent

In his head, Jason Parent lives in many places, but in the real world, he calls New England his home. The region offers an abundance of settings for his writing and many wonderful places in which to write them. He currently resides in Southeastern Massachusetts with his cuddly corgi named Calypso.

In a prior life, Jason spent most of his time in front of a judge . . . as a civil litigator. When he finally tired of Latin phrases no one knew how to pronounce and explaining to people that real lawsuits are not started, tried and finalized within the 60-minute timeframe they see on TV (it’s harassing the witness; no one throws vicious woodland creatures at them), he traded in his cheap suits for flip flops and designer stubble. Mae Clair can spin a tale and I am happy to read another story, End of Day, in the Hode’s Hill series. Look at that beautifully creepy and ominous cover. Don’t ya just love it?

MY REVIEW

End of Day by Mae Clair is Book Ii of the Hode’s Hill series. It is told from two points of view, jumping from the past to the present, keeping the mystery from both perspectives alive throughout the story.

Gabriel Vane, an emerald, and…death.

Gabriel’s death…it is so terrifyingly horrific that it gave me the shivers and had the hair on my arms and the back of my neck standing up. Mae Clair does a wonderful job of showing, not telling, as the words bring the scene to life and I couldn’t help but picture it in my mind’s eye.

Jillian Cley is an empath and that explains why she is a loner. She works for herself, designing websites. She has Maya, her one and only friend, and Blizzard, her therapy dog. I love having critters added to stories, especially dogs. It adds a ittle something extra that I like to see authors do.

Her family is responsible for the upkeep of the grave of Gabriel Vane at Hickory Chapel Cemetery. The grave has been disturbed, but they cannot allow him to die…again, the Third Death.

Elliot, her neighbor and newfound friend is going to become super important to her and she to him.

Sherree had never gotten over Boyd, her boyfriend who was murdered and she never quit looking for the secrets locked in Madison’s head. Since Gabriel Vane’s bones had been disinterred, people are dropping like flies. No two deaths are the same, no pattern. she finds a friend in Dante. She doesn’t need to convince him of anything, he already knows.

Monsters are real in Mae Clair’s world. We will definitely see them raise their ugly heads.

For whom does the bell toll? If you hear it, it tolls for you…or someone close to you.

There is a subtle hint of malice throughout the entire book. I have a feeling of doom. When will it happen? How will it happen? Who will survive the meeting?

There is an introduction to Book III, but I am not going there. It will make me agonize over the wait.

MY REVIEW

Woo Hoo! Alyssa Day has certainly caught my attention with an empathic Riley Dawson and a hot group of Poseidon’s warriors that are on a treasure hunt, of sorts. I know I’m all  tingly and ready to go. lol

Her grief called to him. It would not be denied. He must got to her.

The mental telepathic dialogue had me cracking up, so I put a smile on my face and prepared myself for a fun, sexy read. I mean, she’s an empath and he’s a high prince, the first of Poseidon’s warriors, so what could possibly go wrong.

“You’re not going to drink my blood or rip my arms off, are you? Because my day has really sucked, and I’m so not up for that,” she said…

Barrabas, a powerful vampire, felt the disturbance caused by their meeting. Oh man, so cool. Water warriors and blood sucking Vampires. What more could I want? I am hooked and happy.

Everything Conlan does is for Atlantis, so denying his overwhelming desire for Riley, who is not only a forbidden human, but also an empath, literally brought him to his knees. Conlan and his warriors were tasked with protecting the humans from shapeshifters and vampires, and were clearly from the Land of Hunk.

I am feeling upbeat, having fun, sharing Conlan and Riley’s internal dialogue and lovin ‘ every minute of it. And now we find out why they are above ground…Poseidon’s Trident has been stolen. Conlan could lose his kingdom if they don’t recover it.

“You’re not a vampire, because you’ve got a heartbeat,” she said. “Are you a shapeshifter? What kind of furry are you going to get?” He laughed. “I’m not going to turn furry, brave one. I am nothing you know.”

Conlan knows that empaths don’t exist, yet here’s Riley. He also knows that the soul meld doesn’t exist, yet how to explain the sparks between them.

Well, Alyssa, you drew me in, kept me riveted to the pages, worrying and fretting, laughing and smiling, never letting me go. The action kept the story flowing as I devoured the words. The world created was full of wonder and I am so happy to have been able to visit Atlantis and meet all  these fabulous characters that escaped from the mind of Alyssa Day.

I have been reading Anthony Renfro’s horror stories for some time now. I am always eager to get my hands on a new one, all while trying to catch up on the backlog of his work that I haven’t read yet. Just keep ’em coming Anthony.

MY REVIEW

God vs Devil. Good vs Evil. Is man inherently good? Do we just stray occasionally, only to come back to our true selves?

Anthony Renfro has a way with words, showing me the haunted house. You know, the one the neighborhood kids talked about, daring each other to spend the night alone.

Satan fights to claim Tom’s soul. What would you do if you met Satan face to face?

One day Satan approached God and said he’s mine.

God said he’s mine.

Now, we will see what choices Tom makes. Satan will dog his every step to drag him down to Hell. He pops up here, there, leaving his messages.

tom is not a shining example of being a husband or father, but he’s not a serial killer wither. He had become a Ghost Buster, along the lines of Ghost Whisperer. He could see and talk to the dead, helping them to move on.

About halfway through, Anthony lets the shit hit the fan. Will this be the final push for the devil to win his prize?

When The Devil Calls is different from his usual horror stories, though anything with Satan in it is filled with horror. It may even leave you questioning your own choices in life.

A man suddenly appears on a road. He’s lost, confused, no clue as to how he got there. He starts to walk and stops suddenly. There’s a bonfire in a field nearby. He sees people dancing around this fire. They are performing some kind of ritual. He turns to flee, but he’s captured. No chance of escape. He hopes he is only dreaming, because all of this seems a bit too real.

Bonus Short Story: Demon Energy

A short story about 1 man possessed and tormented by a 1000 demons who must fight for a soul he is starting to lose. Will he ever find salvation or is his body now an eternal host of hell?
