Suzy Spitfire and the Snake Eyes of Venus
When outlaw Suzy Spitfire flies to Venus in search of a vicious serial killer, she’s looking for the road to redemption—but instead, she quickly becomes involved in a gang war, a revolution, and a desperate attempt to protect a young girl from a violent fate. Join Suzy Spitfire and her friends for another wild ride through the solar system!
** This is the second Suzy Spitfire novel but works as a standalone.
What was going on? Suzy blinked her eyes, trying to get her foggy brain into focus. Okay, not much time had passed. She was lying on her stomach, on the cold pavement with her hands and feet bound. Her body ached, and she had a brief flashback to being arrested as a kid, under a boardwalk with a few friends and a stolen hover bike. At least today she wouldn’t have to listen to Mom and Dad talk about her dismal future. She gave a grim laugh. Hey, maybe I should’ve paid more attention.
She thought about her father, who was dead, and her mother, who still loved her. But then she stopped thinking about them because this was no time for gooey nostalgia. After all, I might have to shoot a few more people today.

I won both these books through IReadBookTours. From warm and fuzzy to cold and dangerous, I loved both the books and want to thank IReadBookTours, Sunny Weber and Elizabeth McKenna for my beautiful copies. They look wonderful on the shelf.
Told from Kaya’s point of view, From Wild to Mild by Sunny Weber is a wonderfully sweet and easy reading adventure story of a kidnapped puppy and how he makes hard decisions in order to find his place in the world.
An isolated lodge in the woods, a blizzard, and I’m sure nothing can go wrong (LOL) as family and friends, along with one stranger, unite to put the past where it belongs in this novella that quickly turns into a mystery filled with suspense and a killer that goes on a rampage.

MY REVIEW
It all starts with Achmael. His life was with his goats. He is lucky to be alive. Usually anyone handicapped is put to death because of their harsh life in Ghat, a remote and isolated village. He is club footed.
The soldiers had been told to dump the bodies in a pit, but did a lousy job of it, which was good for the survivors, which Achmael found.
The British were not going to let their torture go unpunished. Rory would be leading the team to get their revenge. But, it won’t be easy.
The training they go through is brutal, yet amazing. Pain suppression. It is highly secret, even to MI5 and MI6.
The Sultan is not one to be crossed and believe torture is the order of the day.
They make their first move and through they have blended in with their environment, I feel something terrible is coming their way. Will the Sultan catch onto their plan? Would he set a trap for them? If so, will they survive? Can they accomplish their mission and get out…alive?
If you read George Lockie’s biography, you will see he has military experience to draw on, making his characters, and the world they live in, come to life. The bond formed is one of respect and loyalty, working as a well oiled machine to accomplish a common goal. His research pays off and showcases the characters in a realistic way.
I loved Revenge and the characters that stuck together through thick and thin, no matter the danger they faced. To get an inside look at how they operate makes me appreciate what those in service sacrifice for us, that sit comfy, cozy going about our daily business.

Rory Glassen is selected to join an elite SAS cell. They are sent to
Libya to seek retribution for the near-death torture of two of their SAS
troopers, at the hands of a medieval-run empire led by a despotic
Sultan. What was to be a milk-run operation turns sour, as a battle of
wits to survive soon develops between two warring factions. Sultan and
Rory lock horns, trying to outwit each other and prevent any more
deaths. It is only when a most unexpected ally emerges from Rory’s
distant past, and offers the cell information, that a solution appears.

Meet the Author:
Born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1941. Married in 1964 in Edinburgh,
Scotland. Wife’s name is Avril. Has two children, Darren (52) and
Vanessa (47). Enjoyed six years’ service in the Parachute Regiment in
the British Army from 1960 to 65, mainly in the Middle East and Europe.
Migrated as a family to Australia, in 1965, seeking new challenges and a
different lifestyle in a more exciting environment. Traveled
extensively worldwide whilst employed by a major Australian
International Packaging Group, as National Operations Manager, a senior
management role from 1986 to 2003. Started writing in 1995, as he felt
that the Army relationships and strong emotional bonds that are created
in life-threatening experiences in the field, had not been exposed, or
described adequately, in the novels he had read. His first novel tried
to cover that. It takes place post-WWI through to post-WWII. The second
novel, a follow-up military story, again covers a subject not exposed as
a problem before. His third novel covers a criminal gang and its unique
way to produce huge profits from the saddest moments in human life; yet
a boon to the medical world. The fourth exposes the world of computer
hacking, with a clever killer achieving his aim of executing a crime
boss in revenge for his wife’s death at his hands. 1st: Eye of the
Hunter (Thriller, suspense.) 2nd: Chameleon (Suspense, thriller, crime.)
3rd: Miracle Cure (Military, Crime, Police.) 4th: Furtive Shadows
(Military, SAS, MI6) All novels are linked by a common major character,
Rory Glassen – a ruthless, dedicated soldier with extraordinary senses
and physical attributes gleaned from his childhood upbringing alone in
the Scottish Glens.

Serve justice. Discover a secret. Find his daughter. Repay betrayal.
Jack Steel trains for the impossible, and it looks like it found him.
On a black op to neutralize terrorists, elite specialist Steel puts honor and integrity ahead of orders when he spares a monk. He just never expected his decision to put crosshairs on his back.
Hunted by a twisted killer, a vengeful billionaire, and the highest levels of government, Steel races to discover who’s behind a conspiracy that will decide the fate of two countries—and why one monk is the key to it all.
Aching from a missing daughter, Steel finds it easy to fall for Christie, a beautiful counter-terrorism analyst who offers to help. But he isn’t sure he can trust anyone.
To have a chance at love and a new life, and to serve justice, Steel just needs to stay one step ahead of a bullet…

Revenge. Love. Family.
To protect their families, Jack Steel and Christie Thorton must become assassins.
Deadly Blackhood Ops specialist Jack Steel has moved on from his bloody past, but his past won’t let him go. He has it all; his partner Christie, his daughter Rachel, a protection agency he’s proud of, and his head on straight.
But it’s all torn apart when a madman blackmails him and Christy. Their skills are pushed to the limit as they are forced to become assassins to save those they love. The Mexican cartel, terrorists, and people from Steel’s past force them into a non-stop fight that they can’t walk away from.
To protect his country, and everyone important to him, Steel will be forced to trust the very people he swore to kill.
And he might have to walk away from those he loves…
Read an Excerpt from Book 2: Steel Assassin
Steel heard the ooh ooh ooh cry of a Mexican spotted owl. It began softly and escalated rapidly to a louder pitch. Wishing he could just stand still and enjoy it, he kept moving. He had a deep, abiding love for nature—which always grounded him.
As he made his way south, he also wished he had taken a firmer stand with Christie and refused her help. It probably wouldn’t have mattered. She would have come anyway. But the fact that she was in a dangerous Op, with little field experience, gave his steps more urgency.
A deeper fear lurked beneath that idea. When the Colombian had threatened to send Christie’s photo to the cartel, he had intuited that it wasn’t just a threat, but a plan. The Colombian would have to die before that happened.
The trees formed dark shadows under the moon. He ran from trunk to trunk until he was far enough south that he could approach the side of the house directly from the east.
Decades of exploring caves had made moving in darkness second nature to him.
As he got closer, the house lights guided him in. He stopped fifty feet out behind a tree. No one was visible in the windows. It triggered an alarm in his head to be more cautious.

Jolie was three when she found she was ugly and deformed.
She was five when she found she was a sub-human and an outcast.
She was seven when five boys and two girls dragged her out of the
orphanage and beat her unconscious, leaving her lying bleeding and
broken in the street.
She was content to lie there and die, tired of being hated and abused.
But a frail old man with wispy white hair and a long beard wasn’t
content to let her die. He not only saved her, but he adopted her and
passed on his unique martial art to her.
She was twenty when she headed to Delphi, the center of the United
Systems of Perileos (USP) and the planet of her birth-father to find
her place in his society.
Based on her unique upbringing, she decides to join the USP military,
requesting to be assigned to the Tasmanians SFG, an elite all male
unit. The military brass is reluctant to deny her request and admit
their enlistment contract permits bait-and-switch assignments.
Instead, they agree to let her enter the school, thinking she
couldn’t possibly succeed–a Chihuahua competing against
Rottweilers–and plan to make an example of her when she fails.
Although Jolie is small, she is not what she appears. But can her adopted
father’s art enable her to survive the treachery of the military
brass, the grueling of the school, the prejudices of the instructors,
and the testosterone of an all-male class?
And if she succeeds, can she thrive in the high-octane and all male
environment of the Tasmanians?

Blacktip Island by Tim W Jackson has a fabulous cover and I would love to be stranded on a tropical island. So…another adventure with Tim. Thanks for inviting me along for the ride.
Blake is a bit of a douche, a thief and embezzler. I seesaw back and forth with him trying to cut him some slack, but enjoying watching him sweat.
Whispers of pirate treasure and ghosts on the wind.
On this small isolated island it seems all the residents are running from something. Do they all have secrets? All the characters seem to be a mess of one kind or another. Sly, sneaky, secretive…I do love bad guys. What would the world be without villains?
Mal, I am very suspicious of her and I am curious if my thoughts are correct. Time will tell.
Will they find out who has been blowing up the new runway? Is there any treasure? So many questions I am waiting to have answered.
I laughed all the way to the answer to the mysteries of Blacktip Island. A cross between Magnum PI and Pink Panther. I can see him putting around on his scooter. I enjoyed my time on the island, snorkeling, treasure hunting, dodging the law and those who would betray me…and Hugh, wondering what comes next.

Inadvertent embezzler
Blake Calloway high-tails it to the Caribbean, a step ahead of the Feds
and desperate to restart life as an anonymous divemaster in a tropical
paradise. On Blacktip Island, though, Blake quickly discovers “tropics”
doesn’t mean “paradise,” and rookie boat hands stick out like a reef at
low tide.
The locals are quirky: a landlord who swears he’s
Fletcher Christian reincarnated, a boss who likes fish better than
people, a sloshed resort manager with a sex-crazed wife, a possibly
ax-murdering neighbor, and a girlfriend who just might turn Blake in for
the reward money. Blake steers a ragged course between them, trying to
straighten out the mess he’s made before the cops can track him down and
haul him away.
Blacktip Island is an irresistible comedy for anyone who’s ever dreamed of trading the rat race for a hammock under the palm trees

Very pretty cover for Codename: Chimera by J K Persy. I got this book back in February of 2014, but didn’t read it until 1.15.15. I loved it and I don’t have any excuse for waiting so long to share it with you. The cover does not make me think of the cozy mystery that it is.
During their investigation, they learned about a project called Chimera and now the mystery deepens. Is it a conspiracy? Will they kill anyone to keep a secret?
A convoluted mystery centered around a medallion. Who does it belong to?
Codename: Chimera lacked a sense of urgency, but a lot of cozies do. That doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy them and I loved this one. I was super curious about the outcome and the deaths that follow the medallion.
I loved the trio and was happy to be along for their adventure. Codename: Chimera by J K Persy is not what I expected from looking at the cover, but it all made sense in the end.
The brain teasers are a bonus. I stopped and spent a lot of time trying to solve them. I wonder if you will too.
