MY REVIEW

It is so nice to be back with Jane Blythe’s hunkalicious military men in Brutal Scars, the third book in the Prey Security: Bravo Team series. We start out hot and it doesn’t end until the happy every after. Brutal Scars is filled with action and adventure and Jane has no qualms about putting her characters through the proverbial wringer.

In Brutal Scars, we will get Jessica Bowen and Mason “Scorpion” Markson’s story. Mason thinks he knows Jessica’s story, but he is in for a rude awakening when he volunteers to join a cult to rescue her. We know Jane Blythe writes about strong female characters, so we know Jessica is no shrinking violet. She feels his appearance is going to ruin everything.

Jessica had a horrendous childhood and Mason is in for a big surprise when she tells him like it is. He is looking forward to coming face to face with her brother, David. But, first, they will have to survive their time in the cult. The cult leader has an agenda and feels anyone that doesn’t believe his way of life is the only way, they plan to eliminate. It’s up to Jessica and Mason to save the day.

I love romantic suspense novels. Sure, they all have a similar format…Damsel in distress, knight in (un)shining armor comes to save the day and they live happily ever after…and that is what I am looking for.

Josh Duffy wondered who he had become. He was a security guard at the mall. Who is there to protect? He can’t even afford to take care of his family. He couldn’t help but question why he was here. Not just here at the mall, but here on earth. What was his purpose?

Josh Duffy had been a professional bodyguard. He was one of the world’s elite operatives, until Lebanon. He was successful in protecting his principal, but he had paid a price, the loss of his leg.

An old friend finds him at the mall and offers him an opportunity to work in the field. The UN is hoping to broker a truce between the different drug cartels in Mexico. He gets more than he bargains for.

Once the action starts, it never stops. Danger is found around every corner. Bodies will fall. It doesn’t take long for them to realize there is a traitor amongst their group. Who will make it out alive?

Mark Greaney’s research makes Armored shine. The vivid details and realistic characters bring the story to life. The pacing and excellent writing kept the suspense at a high level. A sense of urgency played across the pages and I found myself engrossed in the story. I would definitely read more of his work.
