This may be the best one yet…

In Onyx Webb, Richard Fenton and Andrea Waltz have no problem putting their characters through HELL. No easy ‘living’ for them.

Left me asking the question, “Do we ever really know anyone? What are they thinking, feeling?”

Even as a ghost, Onyx Webb has kept the lighthouse lit. Guess even a ghost has to have a purpose.

“Life is a hard thing to let go of…Even when you’re dead.” Onyx tells Katherine. But, why stay, when there is no joy or happiness?

Death, murder, lies and betrayal. Be careful who you put your trust in and who you care about. The authors are not afraid to kill off their characters. Adds a little something extra for me, guessing who will bite the bullet next.

A multitude of characters, some of them dead, some of them not. We have numerous storylines going on, jumping from the past to the present. I can hardly wait to see what happens when they catch up with each other.

The authors include a memory refresher in the beginning of the book and I found that very helpful. This series does not stand alone, so begin with Book I. All the books are out and available for purchase.

I knew the ending for these episodes was coming and I didn’t want it to happen. From present to past, character to character, I find this hard to put down and I want more….NOW!

I didn’t want to scare you so bad you wouldn’t stop in, so lets have some fun.

A ragtag band of characters are thrown together by chance. determined to solve, not one, but two mysteries. Who took EMMA and who killed Steven’s wife?

The gang physically resembles the Scooby Doo gang – Molly is Velma, the brainy one and is shot in a school incident, Ashdon is Shaggy, the cowardly and hungry one, Steven is Fred and Olivia is Daphne. Olivia is on a school teacher suspension of sorts.

The characters are what I keep coming back to. The neighbor lady is a trip.

We have a stalker, a murderer, a missing person, and even a mystery machine.

The story is told in a comical and humorous way, but it is not all laughs and giggles.

Pink Zombie With a Mist contains some serious and sad issues, yet I found myself laughing at the dialogue and the characters antics. They fumble their way through solving mysteries and become a tight knit group. The zombies…we will find the answer to that too, but it won’t be easy.

Jada Ryker kept me on pins and needles, wondering and worrying.

When Stalking Turns To Murder – Sunrise Awakening by Amanda Seigrist @amanda_siegrist

MY REVIEW

Sunrise Awakening is Amanda Siegrist’s debut into the romantic suspense world, and she did a great job, using misdirection and multiple villains to distract me.

The opening was fantastic. I couldn’t help but laugh at myself for being hooked so fast and I must say, I believed every word of it.

Jake, literally, bumped into Maddie, and it wasn’t only the coffee that burned him. He left a definite impression on her too. BUT…

Our killer is was pissed, had his eye on her first and was even angrier when they hooked up. Will that put Jake on the killer’s radar too…and her brother, who is very protective and comes to her aid when things begin to really heat up. Good thing Jake and Lucas quickly become friends.

I didn’t see it coming. Amanda Siegrist led me down a path that was so muddied I could not see clearly. She keeps the killer’s identity hidden, pulling me here and there, just like Jake and Maddie’s romance.

I love the push and pull of romantic suspense as danger and terror swirl around the characters. Keeps more than one story going on and creates an sense of anticipation, waiting for evil to rear its ugly head.

Maddie isn’t the only one in danger.

Sunrise Awakening has one of those don’t do it moments…don’t go in the basement, don’t open the door, don’t go outside…

If you do, you just may find yourself in the dark, alone…

I can’t imagine what it would feel like, knowing you are going to be killed….being unable to do anything to help yourself as you wait to die, and the killer lovin’ every minute of it.

The murders are brutal, savage. The killer enjoyed inflicting pain, torturing the victims with fear and terror and the knowledge that their pain increased his pleasure.

Sunrise Awakening by Amanda Siegrist has all the ingredients for a wonderful romantic suspense novel. There’s plenty of mystery, danger and anticipation of what would happen next. I am happy to know it was a debut novel, because if Amanda’s first one is this good, I can only imagine what is to come and I plan on being around to find out

Sunrise Awakening is the first book of the series and can stand alone.

The corner of his lips curved into a breathtaking smile, his features brightened and turned so incredibly sexy, Maddie’s heart fluttered at the sight of it.
Goodness, the man was beguiling! He definitely needs to smile more often!
She beamed. “Was that a smile?”
He looked back at her hands tending to him, letting his smile fade. “Perhaps.”
“That was a smile.” Her face triumphant as if she won some great battle. She dabbed alcohol on his other hand. “What’s your name?”
“Aidan.”
She blew on his cut and pulled his hand onto her lap. “I like that name. Aidan.” She met his eyes levelly as she pronounced his name. “I’m Madeline. My friends call me Maddie. Where are you from?”
Aidan cocked his head as she dutifully tended to him. She didn’t fear him, nor hate him. A stranger to her, her heart reached out to assist him. Her altruism was blowing him away just as much as her feather touch that seemed to heat his blood.
“Maryland.”
“Never been there, but I’ve heard the scenery is awesome. That’s a long haul. You out visiting?”
“Interrogating me, doctor?” He quipped.
“No,” she smiled. “I wouldn’t be small town if I didn’t mettle. Besides, I will be sending you a bill, so I’d like to know where to send it.”
“Ah. Here I thought you were showing a gesture?” He smiled.
“Well, one good turn deserves another, but business is business.” She said smiling back at him as she closed the bandage on his arm. She ran her hand around his bicep to make sure the bandage was smoothed. Maddie actually enjoyed tending to his wounds. It was a great excuse to grope around on his delicious body. To feel the hardness of his honed, lean body. Let’s face it, he was definitely the best looking patient she’s had thus far.
Aidan looked into her eyes, a little overwhelmed he managed to find himself with this woman who sought to be kind. Looking around, he found himself worried for her well being. This wasn’t a town to help strangers. “Do you make a habit of tending to strangers all alone?”
Maddie shrugged. “I hate to blow your ego up, but in truth, no. It appears you’re a special case.” She was amazed herself at her trusting kindness rising to the surface again with him. For such a long time, she reserved her hospitality to animals, which have proven to be more accepting of help. After Eric, she realized that all her kindness would do was get her used and hurt. Now, Aidan shows up and she practically rolls out the red carpet for him. “My Nana says that all friends were strangers once.”
“That’s a dangerous sentiment, Maddie. Taking in strays.”
“I appreciate the concern, but that’s kinda my territory.” Applying the liquid sealant on one gash, she glances at him. “Besides, it’s dangerous to take on a whole bar as well.”
“That’s… different.”
Maddie nodded. “Umm hmm.” Her voice playfully unconvinced. “What if I was to tell you that I happen to know that you aren’t going to hurt me? That I could tell if you would?”
“Is that so?” Aidan leaned back, curious of her explanation. “I would ask you how.”
“Well, I, being a vet, can read a lot of body languages and such since I deal with patients that cannot speak. I know mannerisms that are threatening.”
“Go on.”
“Well,” She cleared her throat, and tried not to stare at him. He was unbelievably easy on the eyes. “For starters, you haven’t challenged me yet. Many animals stand their ground and stare me down, intimidating you to back off, especially since you’re injured. It’s a vulnerability most animals can’t stand, and won’t let you near them.”
“Is that it?”
“Yeah, and you haven’t initiated closing in space enough to attack me.
“Hmm. Am I that transparent?”
“Let’s just say I’m not an idiot. I trust you, but I do have a shotgun in close proximity to me as well.”
He wanted to smile in disbelief, but he honestly wasn’t sure if she was joking or not.
“You don’t trust your instincts?”
Maddie’s spunk got knocked down a few notches as she thought of Eric. “I don’t give them too much clout anymore.” She rebounded with a little smirk, but not fast enough to keep Aidan from seeing the pain on her face a moment ago.
“Thank you.” Aidan inspected the bandage. His other hand was still on her lap, resting against the dip of her thighs. Her skirt was of such thin, silky material, it felt as if his hand rested on water. As he stared down at her bare legs between them, he wondered if her skin felt the same way—or better.
He shook the thought away. Annoyed with himself for being so taken by the interest of her. Of Maddie. The human. But something about her kept him wanting to explore who she was.
“You’re welcome. Aidan. I don’t mind helping you at all.” She placed the extra bandages back in the case and snapped it. “You were an excellent patient. Not a single whine.” She gifted him a kind-hearted smile. “I’d give you a lollipop if I had one, but most of my patients enjoy doggy biscuits instead.”
Before Aidan could stop himself, the hand on her lap hooked around her waist and pulled her in the stool even closer to him. Their eyes locked, and though her face was shocked by the quick gesture, he sensed no fear from her. How was it she was comfortable with him? A lot of times, he just gave people the creeps, but Maddie looked at him as if she was fascinated with him. He found it odd.
Maddie swallowed hard as the faint scent of him and sandalwood surrounded her. There was something very demanding and predatorily sexy about the man before her. Possessing a raw, masculine power about him that was tempting, frightening and deadly. The air around him seemed to hold a thickness between them, as if he was more than he appeared. It drew her to taste that power, and the thought of it nearly left her speechless.
“You just… closed the space between us…” she trailed off as she stared at his lips.
“So it would seem.” He leaned closer to her, as if his body wanted to gravitate to her. He couldn’t remember the last time a woman ever riled him up. And never a human.
“Are you planning to attack me?” Maddie leaned into him, feeling his body heat.
“Not…exactly.” He voice became distracted and slow as he concentrated on the idea of claiming a taste of her. Feeling the softness of those heart-shaped lips. Never had been compelled to do such a thing before.
The spell was broken as Maddie jumped at the sound of loud knocking on her front office door.

“You’re almost late.” Axel glanced up from his bent over position beside a new car we were working on.

“Almost isn’t late.” I walked past him toward the office. “Move before you fuck the project up. Your part is done. It’s my turn to do the touch ups and such.”

“You’re right.”

“On both accounts.” I ran my fingers through my hair and winked at Ellie, one of the girls that worked in the shop. She was a better grease monkey than most of the boys. If Axel weren’t hiding a hard-on for the pretty thing, I’d have already laid her out and made her scream my name a few times.

“What shit are you already starting this morning, Moretti?” She glanced up from the pile of paperwork Axel had scattered across his desk.

“Just making sure everyone knows their place.” I reached for the schedule and ran my finger down the long list of jobs we had to get through. “Who’s coming in today for pick up.”

“Nancy Morgan is due in around nine this morning for her Cadi.” She gave me a quirky smile.

“What?” I stood up straight and lifted my eyebrow. “Got something to say?”

“Yeah, but maybe I should moan it, so you’d understand it better.” She laughed and turned her back to me. “You know Axel would be pissed if he knew you were fucking the customers.”

“Would he?” I dropped the schedule back on the desk and walked to the door. “Let Miss Morgan know that she needs to see me to get her keys.” I grabbed her keys off the rack by the door and walked out. She was a rich bitch with a horrible laugh, but she could suck a dick like nobody’s business. I was more than happy to give her a little bit of practice.

“Fuck.” Axel walked around a Mustang we had jacked up four feet into the air.

“What’s up?” I slipped the keys in my pocket and gave my closest friend my attention.

“Ellie keeps leaving her tools all over the fucking place. I almost busted my ass thanks to her wrench being on the ground. The damn thing is covered in motor oil.”

“She’s trying to kill you.” I nodded. “It’s the way women tell you they’re interested nowadays. Used to be a little light flirting, maybe a room key, or a subtle foot in your lap to play with your dick, but things have progressed.”

“Fuck you too.” He rolled his eyes and walked around me. “She’s not interested, and even if she were… you’re not.”

“Okay.” I followed him, wanting to push a little harder just for the fun of it. “Then if you’re not into her, then move outta the way. She’s beautiful. I’d love to spread her taut little thighs and-”

The quickness of his attack threw me off guard. He popped me in the throat two times in quick succession and the pain of it stole my breath. “Shut the fuck up about her, Johnny. Now.”

I lifted my hands as I gasped for air. “Got it. Damn it, man.”

“Sorry.” He ran his fingers through his hair and let out a long sigh. “I can’t stop thinking about her. I tried to take a girl out last night and I barely got the rubber on before I called out Ellie’s name.”

I rubbed at my throat and tried hard not to return pop him in the mouth for hitting me. I’d deserved that shit, but I was the upper dog in the fight, and would easily win should it come to something like that.

“Stop fucking around and tell her.” I popped him in the gut. “And don’t hit me again. I’ll fuck you up.”

“You wanna go, old man?”

“Old man?” I reached for him as someone cleared their throat behind us.

“I heard you had my keys, Johnny.” Her voice was sweet like sugar.

“That I do.” I winked at Axel and spun on my heel. “Damn, Miss Morgan. And I thought your car looked good all dressed up and pimped out.”

She smiled and bit at her lip as she eye-fucked me. Oh yeah. She was going on her knees.
