MY REVIEW

The Bloodstone Legacy: Damnation by V E Huntley grabbed me and never let me go. I love walking on the dark side, so if you are looking for sparkly vampires, don’t look here. These guys are vicious and I can’t look away.

Damnation takes place in a dystopian world 500 years in the future, where vampires rule and humans are their slaves.

Aden Westcott has spent 300 years lost to the darkness. He lost his love, his soul mate, and can never forgive himself…until a human enters his life. Could this be his second chance at love?

I love vampire stories and it’s hard to find a new take on a familiar story, but V E Huntley has managed to do that and more. We have a slow burning romance and many triggering moments, and savagery and brutality are the norm.

There is a cliffhanger ending. I definitely appreciate the author making me aware of that in the blurb. Atonement, Book II is due out in the Spring of 2025 and I can hardly wait.

His Brother’s Dragon by Maggie Tideswell is Book II of the Tasmanian Vampire Colony trilogy. It picks up where His Brother’s Mate left off, so I recommend reading the series in order.

Harriet was in love with Enso. She would do anything to be with him, even if that meant becoming a vampire. Benji, Enso’s brother, is obsessed with her. By him becoming her ‘father’ and changing her, it makes her off limits to him. There was a crazy quadrangle going on and I wondered if Harriet would ever be safe in the colony.

Mariah is Benji’s wife, pregnant with his child. She is also a dragon. He continues to deny that she is his mate, and in His Brother’s Dragon we will get the answer.

Steamy sex scenes, vampire and dragon slayers, obsession, and danger surround the characters, which are well rounded and continue to develop throughout the series. The action keeps the pace of the novel moving along, keeping me involved, having to know how it will end.

The trilogy will be wrapped up with Suzanne’s story in Her Brother’s Keeper.

OMG, I sure didn’t see where this was going. Each book of the Lair series by D V Sullivan has been filled with action and I have loved every minute with Arie and Adrian. Each book drew me deeper and deeper into their world. I didn’t see a way for them to survive, let alone have a happy every after.

They are on a mission. A mission to take out Adrian’s maker, the cruelest vampire of them all. They will find out if he can become human again.

Arie was able to lure people to her side, risking life and limb. She had never considered herself a leader, but there are those that are willing to follow. Unfortunately, not all will survive. I do love an author that is so confident his story can stand after killing off a character or two or three or…

Wow, just wow. There were so many things I loved about Lair Reckoning. The whole premise, a ‘Below Deck’ world was a novel approach. Why would vampires want to live on yachts? Because D V Sullivan wanted them to. He was a deckhand in the Mediterranean, so he has first hand experience of what the workers go through. Then you just need to add vampires to the mix.

My thanks go out to D V Sullivan for passing along the first three books in the series. The ending of Lair Reckoning wrapped up one story, but I see more adventures on the horizon.

Well, now she’s gone and done it. Fell in love with a vampire…but, she doesn’t want to become one. The thought of living in the dark doesn’t appeal to her. How can she have it all? Is it true what ‘they’ say? If they kill his maker, he will become human? She is determined to find out, but it won’t be that easy. In fact, it is deadly.

I love the whole ‘Below Deck’ vibe of working on a yacht, especially considering the owner, Adrian Voper, is a vampire. Seems there is a whole colony of vampires owning yachts and they need the help to clean up the messes they make. I can only imagine what that entails, until I read about it.

I love the blood, guts and gore. There was one scene that blew me away. I know it was so wrong of me, but I found myself smiling as I read along. It has that B movie vibe going on.

Arie sure has come a long way, from a cowering young girl to a kickass woman and she will take names and she will not take any prisoners.

I want to thank D V Sulllivan for the opportunity to read Lair Rising.

Such a pretty cover and when I saw The Tasmanian Colony I wondered if there would be Tasmanian shifters. LOL Nope, but we have plenty of other magical creatures, like witches, vampires and dragons, along with a human. Of course, she will fall in love with one of them, and I was counting on that. I don’t mind some things being predictable, especially when an author creates a fantastical world with compelling characters.

Harriet never stood a chance, once she met HIM.

I love a good supernatural story. Maggie Tideswell lured me in with the blurb, but the story kept me hanging on, facing the same dangers that Harriet did. I thought, what an odd name for a fantasy character and it put a smile on my face as I tried to conjure an image of what she looked like. Not the older woman that I first had in mind, that’s for sure.

Her being the only human makes her a target. Will she allow herself to be turned? I am curious to see how it will play out, as she has fallen in love with a vampire.

I want to thank Maggie Tideswell for the opportunity to read His Brother’s Mate and I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next.

5 Stars for Originality – Golden Blood: A Vampire Story by Tim Vee @_Tim_Vee_

The gorgeous, eye catching cover is only the beginning of the deliciousness of Golden Blood: A Vampire Story by Tim Vee. I grab any vampire books that come my way and Golden Blood is a fresh take of a familiar tale. It’s pretty hard to come up with a new slant, seeing there are thousands of books out there. Good job ,Tim.

Balthazar Jiménez de Quesada’s greed has him transformed into a vampire, one of the most grotesque I have ever come across. He’s definitely not sparkly. He turns the wrong person when he slaughtered Yvette’s family and left her for dead. She plots her revenge.

She devotes her vampiric life to finding Golden Blood, the rarest type of blood. It can break the vampire curse, turning her back into a human. There are some bloods that can give a vampire the human feeling for a short period of time, but she wants Golden Blood. So does Balthazar, after he gets his first taste. He wants to kill her and take over her ‘company’.

I love what Tim Vee has done with Golden Blood. I would not change anything. These are not your Twilight vampires. Tim has some of the most vivid descriptions and I can see the flies buzzing, skin sloughing off…

We have a bit of a history lesson with our horror and I was all in. The more I read, the more engrossed I was in the story. I would have read it in one sitting, if I could have, but I did read until the wee hours of the morning.

OMG. Vampires and yatchies. I love it. I watch Below Deck on TV and when D V Sullivan asked if I was interested in reading a copy of Lair, I dove right in. I can see why he thought of yatchs as a setting, seeing he has been a yatchie himself. What an original idea.

Aurora runs from an abusive boyfriend, running right into the arms of a billionaire vampire. I have never read about vampires on yatchs and I love what D V Sullivan has done with them. Of course, he has a steady supply of blood, seeing his employees are handy and easily disposed of. Can a vampire fall if love with a human? Can Aurora fall in love with Adrian?

Aurora coaxes Adrian into trying to cure his curse and I sure didn’t see the outcome. I am really curious about the future books in the series.

Olivia Booth is a must read author for me, ever since I read her Hell’s angel series, which I highly recommend if you love apocalyptic/dystopian fiction. A Dream Of Blood And Magic, we are dealing with vampires and witches. Vampires vs vampires. Witches vs witches. Vampires vs Witches. Vated Ordo vs Sisterhood. Good vs Evil.

We begin with the Prologue. I love Prologues…don’t you? Allorn, a realm outside Earth, 5,000 years ago

Rayne wasn’t only fighting to save herself. She was fighting to protect her daughters from the most ruthless queen her realm had ever known. The queen had no idea there were two daughters, twins. To through the queen off the scent, they separated the girls. Rayne says:

“I don’t know how to be without you, Enid. Who will sing sone with me at night? Or tease the lily hoppers by the pond?”

Enid leaned in. “When the wind brushes against your cheek, sister, it will be me sending you a kiss.” As if speaking in a silent language only they could hear, they smiled and embraced one last time.

A Dream Of Blood And Magic by Olivia Boothe is told from multiple points of view. Each character has their story to tell and it didn’t take me long to figure out what side I stood on. Olivia is not afraid to kill off her characters. Even though I knew some would fall, I was crushed at one in particular.

Olivia Boothe can pen a story that captures my heart and mind. The tempo and pacing of The Spirit Marked Witch kept me reading until the last word was read. I was so engrossed in the story, I never saw the end coming. Avery shone through Olivia’s words as she grew into the Prophecy. Her innocence may have been swept away, but her maturity and sense of right and wrong will carry her through the worst of times. I can understand some of the cruelty, but her mother? I am eager to meet the other guardians that will come to protect her. I know I have already seen the second one. There are those that will stand beside her, and those that want to use her, and I can hardly wait to read more of her story. The series does need to be read in order…and I intend to be there at the end.
