Gone Wild by James W Hall

I love to travel with murderous psychopaths to exotic locations. How about you?

MY FRIDAY 56

He played with the straw, lifted up a handful, let it fall on his belly. Lifted another handful, let it all on his belly. Burying himself in straw. Deeper and deeper till it was nearly dark. Trying to sleep in that dark, but unable to.

MY BOOK BEGINNINGS

Allison Farleigh felt the dull tingle of a leech on her neck. Her fourth this week. With her right hand she reached back and touched the thing, fixed to her flesh like a damp strand of dough. She couldn’t see it, but knew the leech was black with an eerie inner shine like a dark tube of neon.

  1. I need more. Maybe I’m just feeling picky today, I dunno, but a few I felt I need more to turn me onto it.
    Happy weekend!

  2. Yuck, I could do without the leeches! Sounds interesting, but not really my type of read. Hope you enjoy it, though! I like the first cover the best. Thanks for visiting my blog! Happy reading and happy weekend!

  3. He’s one of my go to authors every time I enter a library or book store. Always looking for more of his print books to add to my collection too!

  4. Hi Sherry,

I can’t say this is an author I have ever come across before and I’m not altogether certain I would enjoy the style of writing.

Having said all that, I am really intrigued by those opening lines. It sounds as though he is either trying to conceal himself from someone or something, or he is in a very cold, exposed place!

As for the leeches, that just made me cringe and re-affirm exactly why I have never had the slightest inclination to visit any of these remote and exotic locations!

I prefer the moder day cover, the more vibrant colours certainly fit everything you have told me about the book 🙂

    Yvonne
