Sherry’s Shelves #132 – The Solar Eclipse & More

Sherry’s Shelves #113 is my weekly update from August 20 – August 26, 2017.

Sunday Post #201 Countdown to Spring..

.

~~~
What a fun week and interesting week. Did everyone see the solar eclipse?
Sunday we went scouting for a good location, and when I saw how this photo turned out it made me think the aliens are coming. Is that a death ray trying to take out the Pensacola, Florida beach ball?
Unfortunately, I waited too long to try and get a special lens cover, but we managed to get some good shots anyway.
We didn’t have a full eclipse, only 81%, but it was spooky cool, especially because the clouds kept passing over it adding an extra layer of spooktacularness.
At one point, we jumped into the car, chasing that patch of blue sky over there…
AWESOME!
  1. Great eclipse photos! I always get excited by partial and full solar eclipses. This weekend has been about the sharks-last night I watched three really bad ones! I hope I have better luck tonight!
  2. Those are some really great pics, Sherry. I was lucky enough to experience a full solar eclipse back in 1999 – and you’re right about the spookiness. The wall of darkness travelled across the sea (we were on the Cornish coast at the time) until we were plunged into twilight, the temperature dropped like a stone and the birds stopped singing… It was an amazing moment! Have a great week.
    • Nothing wrong with a lot of sunshine. We have intermittent clouds and were lucky enough to have moved to an ‘open’ area before the full eclipse. It didn’t get as dark as I thought it would.
  3. We only had 58% eclipse coverage here, so it didn’t get dark at all, but the temperature dropped noticeably. You got great pictures. In 2024 there is going to be 100% in Syracuse N.Y., so I am hoping to be able to go there to experience it. I hope you are having a wonderful week.
