Sherry’s Shelves #178

Sherry’s Shelves #178 is my weekly update from 12.30.18 – 1.5.19.

Hello Fellow Bloggers. Well, the holidays are over and I am still packing up the Christmas decorations, finishing up painting the shed (which Mr Wonderful has done most of and that is only one of the reasons why he is Mr Wonderful), sucking leaves out of the pool when it isn’t raining (which it has done entirely too much, but the sun is shining today and they say we will have sun for the weekend) and I hope to do some yard cleanup. There are a lot of those pesky little oak tree branches that seem to be a never ending problem. The weather has been warm, not like last year. I remember being in New Orleans for the 2018 New Years celebration and the wind chill was -35. This year I was on the golf course for New Years Day and it was in the 70s. BUT, there is no such thing as global warming or climate change here in Florida. LOL

I don’t know about you, but I have upgraded to the new WordPress and am tearing my hair out. LOL I accidentally hit the button, but I figure, sooner or later, they will make us upgrade anyway. There are a lot of cool features I am figuring out, but I hate the learning curve. How about you…did you click that button too?

I hope you all enjoyed the holidays are have a wonderful new year filled with fun, family and a lot of good books.

MAIL CALL

I won Renegades by Marissa Meyer from Lauren @ Always Me. I have read some of her work and am super excited to have another one of her books. Thanks Lauren and Marissa.

I received a package of seven novels from Diverson Books. Thanks so much! I have already read the two by Leigh Perry and loved them, especially Sid!

    • I signed up for WordPress originally because my sister, Laura, turned me onto blogging and that is what she used.

  1. It’s so good that you are up for the challenge of updating your wordpress. I reallly need to move my blog to new site but I’m scared to death of losing my followers. Blogspot.com is so clunky and my blog name itself needs upgrading, but sigh…what can you do?

    • Yeah, a lot of times your followers won’t follow you when you change. I have found a blog is in a constant state of growth.

  2. Wow! Lots of book mail. Enjoy! I keep seeing everyone posting about the WP nightmares. Good luck! I hope you have a somewhat smooth transition.

    • Thanks. I am excited about all my new books! I’ll figure out the WordPress thing. Just another challenge. lol

  3. I love the cover of A Skeleton Paints a Picture. We’ve packed most of Christmas away to the attic but I’m still finding things that need packed away. Little odds and ends. Mr. Wonderful sounds so helpful and don’t you hate those little buttons that are so easy to accidentally press???

  4. How wonderful that you got so many nice freebies to read, yay!

I haven’t pushed the WP upgrade button, but I will because sooner or later I’ll HAVE to. Sigh.

  5. You are brave – I am of the school ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ and I get soooo fed up when I’m forced to upgrade to an ‘improved’ version that is nothing of the sort. So no… I’m still with the old version. Don’t get me started on the muddle that ensued when I had to upgrade to the new version of Skype and they lost my complete Contact list…

Yes, it’s been reasonably mild for the time of year, here – thank goodness. I’m hoping for a snow-free year!

    • I agree with you, but I accidentally clicked it. Too quick on the draw. The new version has some great features it’s just figuring it out. I cannot believe the great weather we have been having. I hope it stays this way.

  6. We’re still taking down our Christmas decorations too. I meant to be done, but I’ve not wanted to do it. Lol! Since I don’t host on WordPress I didn’t have to update, so good luck with that. Looks like you got some fun books. I hope you enjoy them and have a wonderful week!

  7. I haven’t seen the changes that everyone keeps talking about with WordPress (or the mysterious “button”?), but I’m sure I’ll be surprised by the change one of these days. Like you, I’m not looking forward to the learning curve.

  8. I’ve heard the new WP is a giant pain! I’m so glad my host hasn’t pushed the upgrade yet (she has heard its awful too). Good luck and have a good week!

  9. Wow you won some great books! It’s nice you worked ahead and had some nice holiday time off. We did some Top10 posts the week of the 24th rather than reviews. It was about 70 here in NC today but it going to drop to highs of the 40s in a couple days. It’s been an odd winter alternating every 5-7 days between hot and cold, wet and sunny.

I’m figuring some things out for the blog but not the new version of WP. Have a great reading week! Anne – Books of My Heart
