Sherry’s Shelves – 2.27 – 3.5.22

Hi Everyone. All right…I have been doing a lot of reading and blogging, but have also gotten out in the yard. I am getting the pool ready for swimming. I think the leaves have slacked off, so the robot can keep up with them. Now, it’s a matter of getting the chemicals up to par. I have also been cleaning up the yard a bit. It is very slow work, but slow and steady wins the race, right? I remember when I used to use a self propelling mower, walking the entire yard. HAH…those days are long gone. And that reminds me. I need to call the lawnmower repair people. We just spent a couple hundred bucks to fix it and it crapped out again. Now they want another five hundred bucks. I am still hesitant about paying for it. Maybe it’s time to get a new one. I will be really pissed if we fix it and it craps out before a year or two passes. This hits us hard, seeing Mr Wonderful no longer has a paycheck. We are playing a money game because of health insurance. We have to watch our income or we could be paying eleven hundred dollars a month. How in the hell do they expect us to do that?! Thank goodness he is getting some fantastic freelance work this week. F***** Covid! It put a hitch in our well laid plans. And speaking of Covid, I am hyping myself up to get out in the read world again. It’s hard, not only because of Covid, but because we have to watch our spending. What a bummer. To work so hard so we could not have to worry about bills and such…now it brings to mind those times we were wrapping coins to be able to go out. Life is…funny

Stay safe and wear a mask..

  1. I can so relate to wrapping coins to pay for things. Back when Ken and I first got together we had a gallon water jug that we put all our spare change in. When he broke both his ankles we were rolling all the change up.

If something breaks after they repair it, sounds like they don’t know what they’re doing.

  2. We’re still not going out or even using the pool in our community. If we must go, we mask. I too watch my spending because the money I have is it. And I have the same issue with health insurance. And we have much at home and enjoy being here. I have a Greenworks 60V mower and I’m been very happy with it. I like not messing with gas / oil etc. But I don’t know the size of your yard or anything.

    • yes. i can’t remember the last time i even left the house, so a vacay may be stressful. mr wonderful is doing freelance. today is his last day, so we are going to the beach for some eats this week. we have been having great weather. hope it holds up so we can eat outside

  3. I don’t know how people can be expected to pay that kind of money for health insurance. It’s crazy.

It’s good that you are starting to get your pool ready. That means summer is just down the road.

  4. Health insurance is a mess in this country. We would like to retire a few years early but insurance is a big stumbling block. We haven’t peeked at our pool yet but I know I have a lot of work to do in the yard soon.
