Sherry’s Shelves #202 – Homestead Here We Come @KyleBusch

.

Sherry’s Shelves #202 is my blog update from 11.10.19 – 11.16.19.

LATEST HAPPENINGS

Hello fellow bloggers. How are you today? I am doing this post while watching college football, my normal during the football season. I don’t watch a lot of Nascar since Jeff Gordon retired. We thought about it long and hard and chose Kyle Busch to be our champion. I loved his snarky, confident attitude. He has settled down since getting married and having kids. I thought it was funny that Mr Wonderful spends about five minutes on I10 going to work in the morning and what did he see the other day? The M&M truck that holds all Kyle Busch’s goodies, heading for Homestead. He is in the running for the championship and I wish him all the luck. We will be flipping back and forth on TV, watching the race and pro football.

It’s been chilly here with some rain and sunshine both. It has warmed up a little today and I need to clean the pool, but hey, who are we fooling. I won’t be getting in it, so no big deal. I’ll get to it…eventually. LOL How about you? I have gotten pretty good at taking care of business, especially knocking out the things I want to do the least, Otherwise it hangs in the back of my head, driving me nuts. Are you a procrastinator, putting off til tomorrow what you could do today? Would you rather binge watch TV? Catch a good movie? Read a good book? Do some blogging? Or just hang out with the family?

Well, that’s about it for this week. Leave a link and I’ll stop by and check you out.

Gentlemen… Start Your Engines #Daytona500 #Nascar

As I sit here, writing this post, I am listening to Florida Georgia Line singing Cruise and I am ready for…gentlemen start your engines!!!

I have been watching all the hype this past week, anticipating today…the kickoff for the Nascar racing season. When I first started watching, it was because of Jeff Gordon. Don’t ask me why, put something about him lured me into the racing game and I have been here every since. I love sports of all kinds and was happy to add this one to my repertoire.

Nascar is now bitter sweet for me. I have lost my Champion, Jeff Gordon…but even though he is no longer racing, he will be a fixture in the broadcast booth.

Now…the big guestion is, who am I going to root for?

Well..it’s really hard not to follow the 24 car, Chase Elliot. I wonder how Jeff Gordon is feeling right now. Is he thinking he could be on the Pole, if only…

Or…how about the man with a personality I used to love to hate. He may not be the prettiest, but he has won me over. I love a rebel with a cause and Kyle Bush has his eye on the prize.

Unfortunately Kyle was not the winner today.

I was yelling at him to jump out there in front of Denny Hamlin, but he couldn’t hear me. For all you Denny Hamlin fans, congratulations.

Here are some of my Daytona moments with Mr Wonderful and the gang.

daytona50thUntil next time…

Jeff Gordon says Goodbye and Kyle Bush says Hello

I have been following Jeff Gordon and his Nascar career since the beginning.

He brought Nascar to the masses and changed the sport forever.

He did amazing things to get in the chase at Homestead and even though he didn’t win, he showed himself as a true champion.

As you can see, I couldn’t be there, so I took these photographs of my TV. 😆

He made his 750th consecutive start! How impressive is that?

As the race began, I was on my feet like the thousands that were present at the track.

I couldn’t help but scream and yell at the TV as he struggled to stay at the head of the pack.

Jeff’s pit crew did an excellent job!

As Jeff’s career was coming to a close, I had a decision to make.

Who will be my next driver????????

Kyle Busch has been a driver I have loved to hate and his personality won me over.

He had made a come back after missing the first eleven races because of a broken foot and leg from an Xfinity race in the season opening at Daytona.

What a SURPRISE when Kyle won!

~~~~~~
I gotta share this.
VROOOM
Jeff Gordon has always been my favorite Nascar driver.
HE WON!!!!!! the race in Martinsville.
It was a race that went right to the checkered flag.
A true nail biter, stand up and yell at the TV moment. Can you see me *happy dancing*
He is the first racer to be locked into The Championship in Homestead.
There will only be four and I am wishing him all the best.
He is retiring from full time racing after this year. 😥
For a couple of laughs, and since it has been a while, I thought I would share this again.
SYNOPSIS
Goodreads Blurb:  Are the voices in your head listening to you? Oh yes. Yes, they are listening to you. They know what you’re saying. Sometimes, they talk back. Sometimes, they sing along. Sometimes, they write children’s book with hidden messages placed in plain sight with a neon bow because, hey, a little style never hurt anyone. (This, of course, ignores the Great Style Massacre of 1973.)
Welcome to “Fun To Grow On” – the new children’s book series for adults. These books are not for little children or big babies. Each story is filled with blood and violence, sex and swearing – Seriously. This series is for adults. These are not parodies of children’s books but original stories for adults who still have a lot to learn… as do we all.
“Fun To Grow On” presents the very first book in the series… Cookies: Sluts of the Snack World!
When a cookie gets herpes, he decides to ask God for a cure. Can he find God in time?
Someone fed a chocolate chip cookie equal parts of blinding self-awareness, cranberry vodka, and shrooms and asked him to tell his story. Here it is, with all the pageantry you would expect from a cookie… which is probably a whole lot less than you would desire.
Review – Shadow of Doubt
by Melissa Gaye Perez
Shadow of Doubt
After the race, NASCAR driver, Jordan went home to his Daytona beach house. He took a shower and hit the sack, only to be woken by Myron, his pooch, crying because he was afraid of the crashing of thunder. Jordan checked the house and returned to bed.
In the morning, he was checking out the beach and noticed something out-of-place. He went to check it out. As the wind blew the woman’s hair from her face, Jordan realized it wasn’t seaweed and ran to her side. She was alive, but wouldn’t wake up. He looked around and saw he was alone on the beach, there was no one around to help him. He picked her up and took her back to his house.
As she slowly came to, she thought of how handsome he was. When he asked her who she was and why she was on the beach, she couldn’t remember. He called his friend, Martin, maybe he would know what to do. She didn’t want to call the police, said she was afraid of them.
As Jordan and Martin argued about what to do, she got up to leave and promptly fainted. They loaded her in the truck and headed to the hospital. As the police officer and the women’s shelter worker began to plan what to do with “Jane Doe”, Jordan saw how afraid she was and decided to take her home with him.
As he thought of a name to call her, he said she looked like a Barbie doll, so he was going to call her Dolly. Martin busted out laughing. Here was the free-wheeling, no commitment guy he knew, protecting and defending, even shopping for Dolly. Jordan thought it was funny too.
Only once before had he felt like this about a woman. Dolly was waking up all the feelings he thought he had buried.
Jordan had made her think she was imposing, in the way, so when he went to town for supplies, she packed up and left. She went to the police station and they called the women’s shelter.
When Jordan came home, he found a note. He was relieved and then surprised to find how much he missed her. He was going to get her and bring her back, then he found he was missing some money and a valuable ring. He knew it had to be her, because no one else had been in the house. He went to confront her. The police told him they had found the ring and it wasn’t her that had taken it. He knew he had to have her back.
When she tried to seduce him, he said, “if only I knew, without a shadow of a doubt, I’d take you now”. He didn’t want to mess her up by having sex with her, only to find she was married with children.
Animated Animals. Pictures, Images and Photos 3 Stars – Would Recommend to Others
As soon as I saw the cover, I stopped to read the title. Sounded good to me. I love the beach and the water. I am not a huge romance fan, but between the cover, title and a “fun romance”, I thought it was worth giving it a shot. Looked like a quick, beachy read. Love NASCAR and number 24, Jeff Gordon is my favorite – go Jeff. Made it easy to root for Jordan. A few editing errors, but it didn’t matter.
It was fast paced and I found myself hurriedly turning the pages, kindle pages that is. Even though I knew they would end up together, I had to hurry and find out. LO
