This is an action thriller involving special forces military. There are scenes of violence, including torture.

MY REVIEW

It all starts with Achmael. His life was with his goats. He is lucky to be alive. Usually anyone handicapped is put to death because of their harsh life in Ghat, a remote and isolated village. He is club footed.

The soldiers had been told to dump the bodies in a pit, but did a lousy job of it, which was good for the survivors, which Achmael found.

The British were not going to let their torture go unpunished. Rory would be leading the team to get their revenge. But, it won’t be easy.

The training they go through is brutal, yet amazing. Pain suppression. It is highly secret, even to MI5 and MI6.

The Sultan is not one to be crossed and believe torture is the order of the day.

They make their first move and through they have blended in with their environment, I feel something terrible is coming their way. Will the Sultan catch onto their plan? Would he set a trap for them? If so, will they survive? Can they accomplish their mission and get out…alive?

If you read George Lockie’s biography, you will see he has military experience to draw on, making his characters, and the world they live in, come to life. The bond formed is one of respect and loyalty, working as a well oiled machine to accomplish a common goal. His research pays off and showcases the characters in a realistic way.

I loved Revenge and the characters that stuck together through thick and thin, no matter the danger they faced. To get an inside look at how they operate makes me appreciate what those in service sacrifice for us, that sit comfy, cozy going about our daily business.

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Revenge by George Lockie.

complicated as promotion of my novels has become a major

                 issue.

I have had, places I have visited, military life and business

Book Description:

They are sent to Libya to seek retribution for the near-death torture of two of their SAS troopers, at the hands of a medieval-run empire led by a despotic Sultan. What was to be a milk-run operation turns sour, as a battle of wits to survive soon develops between two warring factions. Sultan and Rory lock horns, trying to outwit each other and prevent any more deaths. It is only when a most unexpected ally emerges from Rory’s distant past, and offers the cell information, that a solution appears. Like worms, they burrow into the catacombs of the old Roman Fort on which the Sultan’s Palace is built and seek their revenge.

Meet the Author:
Born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1941. Married in 1964 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Wife’s name is Avril. Has two children, Darren (52) and Vanessa (47). Enjoyed six years’ service in the Parachute Regiment in the British Army from 1960 to 65, mainly in the Middle East and Europe. Migrated as a family to Australia, in 1965, seeking new challenges and a different lifestyle in a more exciting environment. Traveled extensively worldwide whilst employed by a major Australian International Packaging Group, as National Operations Manager, a senior management role from 1986 to 2003. Started writing in 1995, as he felt that the Army relationships and strong emotional bonds that are created in life-threatening experiences in the field, had not been exposed, or described adequately, in the novels he had read. His first novel tried to cover that. It takes place post-WWI through to post-WWII. The second novel, a follow-up military story, again covers a subject not exposed as a problem before. His third novel covers a criminal gang and its unique way to produce huge profits from the saddest moments in human life; yet a boon to the medical world. The fourth exposes the world of computer hacking, with a clever killer achieving his aim of executing a crime boss in revenge for his wife’s death at his hands. 1st: Eye of the Hunter (Thriller, suspense.) 2nd: Chameleon (Suspense, thriller, crime.) 3rd: Miracle Cure (Military, Crime, Police.) 4th: Furtive Shadows (Military, SAS, MI6) All novels are linked by a common major character, Rory Glassen – a ruthless, dedicated soldier with extraordinary senses and physical attributes gleaned from his childhood upbringing alone in the Scottish Glens.

Giveaway – The Beijing Memorandum by J B Morris @JBMorrisAuthor @iReadBookTours

.

I would love to welcome J B Morris to fundinmental. Would you like to say a few words J B?

Do you have another profession besides writing?
I am retired but I must admit I have had some interesting experiences in my career. I worked in a funeral home and became a licensed funeral director and embalmer. I managed a cemetery and became a TV Weatherman for ten years. I was elected to a city council and served three terms in the state legislature. Uncle Sam grabbed me, and I spent ten years in the Army Reserve.

How long have you been writing?
I started writing when I was a teenager and became a serious writer five or six years ago.

Do you ever get writers block? What helps you overcome it?
I’m fortunate. Writers block has not been a serious issue. I simply start writing which usually garbage and the words begin to flow within one to two hours. If the hour is late in the day, I say the *ell with it and quit.

What do you like the least about writing?
What I dislike the most about writing is an affliction suffered by many writers. EDITING. I have a convoluted process that drives me to distraction.

What gives you a “high” in writing?
When the words are perfect and they flow like wine. You look at the complete effort and ask yourself, “Where did that come from?”

What is your favorite travel spot?
Kalispell, Montana. That slice of nature is crowned with Flathead Lake and the gateway to Glacier National Park. The journey ends at Moose Jaw, Canada.

I have never been to Montana, but it sounds like a fabulous place. Thanks so much for sharing you thoughts with us today and congratulations on your latest novel

Interview with Authors from We Know the Truth, Do You?

An Anthology to Celebrate the Raid

1. I love a good conspiracy. What is your theory on government cover-ups?

Annie Walls (Author of Lavish Lure) – I think a lot of stuff gets covered up, but I also believe the government covers things, so we don’t have a mass panic situation.

Beverly Ovalle (Author of The Road to Eden) – I believe that many of the conspiracies carry a grain of truth.

Chrys Fey (Author of Detective Heavenborn) – The government doesn’t want us to know a lot of things because people would either panic or be appalled and demand them to stop.

C.L. Roman (Author of Not Your Father’s Area 51) – My theory is that it isn’t our government that runs Area 51. It’s aliens disguised as humans, studying our technology and culture while trying to protect us from the rest of the universe and vice-versa.

Debra Parmley (Author of The Road to Groom Lake) – I believe big money is behind much of what our government does today and most politicians are corrupt. Cover-ups are to cover their butts. It’s CYA on a much larger scale than most peoples.

Harley Easton (Author of In the Air Tonight) – The X-files was dead on when they said: Apology is Policy. I think the government would rather hide things and apologize when they are discovered than let the public in on potentially dangerous information.

Jennie L. Morris (Author of Galaxy Genetics Inc.) I believe the government, all governments, cover things up. Maybe not necessarily extraterrestrial in nature, but they definitely hide things from the general public. Do I want to know what these are? Maybe some of them, but I probably don’t want to realize how close we’ve come to self-destruction and how many times.

Sherry Rentschler (Author of Mermurings) – I think the government does believe in “something out there” but I don’t believe we have any proof on earth. Do I think we have been visited? Likely, because how can we be the only beings in the vast space called the universe? I don’t believe in little green men. Not even sure that we might recognize strange visitors. We are a very arrogant species who believes we are the best of the food chain. Nature has shown us that we are petty and small. In the universe, I’m pretty sure if anyone has visited us, they’ll waiting for us to “mature” a bit more before revealing themselves.

Valerie Puri (Author of Burner Phone) – It’s interesting to read about false flag events. There are so many of them with varying theories, some more disturbing than others.

2. I have read of more than one military pilot claiming to have seen…something. I can only imagine their fear coming forward and I commend them for sticking to their beliefs. Do you believe it could be a UFO from another planet, or another government with covert military technology?

Annie Walls: I don’t know. I’m a concrete fact kind of person.

Beverly Ovalle: In many cases, both. I’m sure, like us, military technology is advancing more than the average person knows around the world. I also believe we are NOT alone. The universe is too large to have only one race of sentient beings. It is very egotistical to believe we are the only intelligent life in the universe.

Chrys Fey: Honestly, it could be either of those theories: alien spaceships or covert military ships.

C.L. Roman: There’s a lot more reason to believe there are other life forms out there than not. With as many planets as the universe is thought to hold, life on only ours is a bit unreasonable.

Debra Parmley: I believe they are UFOs from other planets and perhaps they also prevent the information from coming out. I believe they watch and study us.

Jennie L. Morris: I think it could be either. The universe is vast, there is no way we are the only sentient beings. Also, we test military planes all the time. I think UFO sightings are a mixture of both.

Sherry Rentschler: I’m a retired Air Force officer and non-combat veteran. I know pilots who said they did see strange things. I do believe in the possibility of visits from outer space but so far, I think other countries may be experimenting over our country and we’ve caught sight of them. I do think our own country is also experimenting and not telling the everyday pilot. Have I proof? No, but then the pilots don’t either. Anything is possible!

Valerie Puri: I’m not sure if the UFO(s) they witnessed were extra-terrestrial or not. I do believe they saw something. It could be an experimental aircraft or spacecraft from another country. But it could also be from another planet. We may never know….

3. Have you ever seen a UFO? Do you want to?

Annie Walls: No. And yes. I usually believe more when I see it first-hand.

Beverly Ovalle: No, but I would love to.

Chrys Fey: Actually…I think my mom and I did once when I was a kid. We were coming home from a Renaissance Fair at my siblings’ high school when we both got a creepy, “something is following us” feeling. I looked out my window and saw a bright, circular light in the night sky. It was far away, but it was plan that it was following us. And we were the only car on the road. Then, another light appeared behind it, and both followed us for a while before they disappeared.

C.L. Roman: I have not. But as long as they’re friendly/benevolent, then sure, I’d love to meet some. No probing though. Does not sound fun to me.

Debra Parmley: No, I haven’t. But I am not averse to the idea, if one wants to show itself.

Harley Easton: Nope. I see more ghosts than aliens. Not sure how I’d feel being confronted with something extra-terrestrial.

Jennie L. Morris: Honestly, I’ve seen lights in the sky I can’t explain. Were they UFOs? To me, yes, but that doesn’t mean they were alien. I just couldn’t identify them.

Sherry Rentschler: I have seen strange lights. I don’t know what it was. I do hope I see a real UFO. But I’ve seen a real ghost, so why not a guest from outer space?

Valerie Puri: When I was younger, I did see something strange once in the night sky. I don’t know what it was, but I’ve never seen anything like it since.

Giveaway & Interview – The Soul Mate Tree Series by Mikea Howard @MikeaHowardWrit @GoddessFish

.

INTERVIEW

If you could have one paranormal ability, what would it be?

  • Kelly: I think I would most love the ability to shapeshift… into anything or anyone. To be able to experience moments as another person or a pet or wild animal would be amazing. Although, I may spend long periods of time as a cat or dog, sleeping.
  • Mindy: I would love to have the same telepathic and telekinetic powers as Jean Gray/Dark Phoenix from the X-Men. I live in a congested city, so having the power to move people/vehicles out of my way when I’m trying to get somewhere in a hurry.

What is one thing your readers would be most surprised to learn about you?

  • People may be surprised to learn that Mikea Howard is not one person, but to co-writers, and that we happen to be sisters-in-law that live on opposite sides of the country.

When writing descriptions of your hero/ine, what feature do you start with?

  • We tend to start with their stature. Our first book described how large the hero was as he loomed over the heroine.

Are you a plotter or a pantser?

  • We started out as pantsers, and would write about ⅔ of each book randomly from our seats, before outlining to fill in the holes. Recently Mindy attempted plotting for our third book, and we are having a difficult time adapting to that process.

Did you learn anything  from writing this book? If so, what?

  • From writing this book we learned that even if we think it’s a standalone, thanks to our expansive world, we have to be careful how many past story details we add. This was hard for us because we love adding cameos of our favorite characters in each book.

SOUL MATE TREE SERIES

GENRE: Fantasy

BLURB

Dottie thought she had it all: a successful singing career, a handsome fiancé, and a starlet’s wardrobe. Sudden betrayal brought it all crashing down around her. Those she trusted most played her as nothing more than a pawn. One misstep while fleeing the scene trapped her in another world alone, save a mysterious visitor.

Guatimozin, an eagle shifter, has spent ages assisting people through the realm between life and death, leading them to join loved ones on either side. No one had ever made him want anything for himself until he discovered this city girl.

Forces plot against them and time is short. Soon, their chance for a happily ever after will be too late.

EXCERPT

Dottie wiped the tears from her face. Damn him, and damn his floosy too. She’d do what her mother constantly threatened her stepdad with, and remove his cock to wear it proudly on a chain around her neck.

I jus’ gotta find a way out of this kooky forest first.

Making her way back onto her feet, she dusted off her dress in a mindless motion. The fabric passed beneath her strokes smooth and dirt free. She studied the once vibrant red dress she’d worn on stage. The satin now appeared drab and colorless. Her bare feet peeked from beneath its hem, as clean as the moment she’d dabbed them dry from her bath. The blind sprint from her dressing room, across town, and up the hill, should have left them covered in filth.

In exasperation, she threw her arms in the air. “Swell. I mus’ be dead and I’m . . .”

She moved away from the tree to scrutinize her surroundings. As much as Dottie hoped she’d end up in heaven, her mother always insisted that, as a willful child trying to pass as something she wasn’t, her final destination would be a bit further down.

The sensation of electricity passing through the air made every hair stand on end as a matter-of-fact reply came from behind. “No, you aren’t dead, but you’re not exactly alive either. You’re in a realm known as the in-between.”

Spinning around, Dottie came face to face with a stranger. Like the tree, he appeared in color, only he wasn’t pink and purple. Instead, a tall man with reddish tan skin, swirling silver eyes, and waist length striking black hair, stared at her as though regarding a ghost. Thick muscular arms crossed over his chest as his shocked expression ease into a slow smirk, highlighting the defined beak-like nose, high cheekbones, and strong chin framing his mouth. Nervously licking her lips, she couldn’t help but muse, Di Mi. Well hello, sailor.

AUTHOR Bio and Links:

Mikea Howard

Writing under Mikea Howard, we are actually Mindy Howard and Kelly Smith, sisters-in-law who share a love for romance, usually paranormal. We have spent the last several years reading and sharing books as well as authors, often making comments about how we’d love to write our own when we ran out of things to read.

While based on our TBR piles, we have not run out of reading material, yet we decided to write when the muse hit Kelly with a dystopian diesel world and an opening scene with the heroine running out into the woods. Mindy then saw her hero step in, and The Diesel War series was born.

Mindy is an IT professional at a telecom company. She is married to a musician and teacher, who also happens to be Kelly’s brother. She has one adult son and is living out west.

Kelly is a Registered Nurse working in maternal-fetal medicine. She has a great husband, who happens to be Mindy’s husband’s best friend. She has one son in high school, one daughter in middle school, and is living on the east coast.

Giveaway – More Than A Soldier by D M Annechino @DMHemingway

More Than a Soldier, based on a true story is Angelo DiMarco’s powerful story of survival,
resilience and courage.

A Few Words From D M Annechino

  • Where do you write? Is there something you need in order to write (music, drinks?)

I have a small office in my apartment in a cozy corner near a window where I can look outside and see palm trees leaning away from the warm ocean breezes of the Pacific. Except for birds chirping and singing outside my window, I need total quiet for me to write. Any outside noise, music, people chatting in the courtyard near my apartment, totally distracts me. There are times when I think about finding a log cabin in a remote area and writing a book there from beginning to end. As appealing as it sounds, I don’t think my wife would warm up to the idea.

Do you write every day?

I try to write every day to keep the momentum going. However, when the creative brain juices just aren’t flowing or I’m distracted by the busy-ness of life, I’ve learned that you just can’t force the creative process and you just have to walk away.

What’s the most courageous thing you’ve ever done?

Quitting a good paying day job to write fulltime.

What made you write a military book about WWII?

The desire to write this book didn’t blossom until my uncle died in 2010. During his entire life he never shared his story with anyone. The only facts the family knew were that he was captured by the Germans and he escaped. A week before my uncle died, he shared the whole story of his capture with his son, Steve, my cousin. When Steve told me the story, I immediately felt compelled to write a book about the horrific experience my uncle endured.

  • What advice would you give budding writers?

I think one of the most important lessons I learned is that rarely does a writer become an overnight success. It’s a long hard road. If you’re writing for fame and fortune, you might want to rethink your career path. Remember: Everyone is a critic. So you really need to have thick skin. The best advice I can offer any aspiring author is to accept the reality that rejection is the prerequisite to success. Even some of the most successful writers in history endured years of rejection long before they were recognized for their craft.

It’s always wonderful to hear what drives an author and I appreciate you sharing your  thoughts with my readers, D.
