Review – A Violent Masterpiece by Jordan Harper #jordanharper #aviolentmasterpiece #netgalley

Amazon / Goodreads

A Violent Masterpiece by Jordan Harper has a cover to die for. I love it, but not so with the characters ‘between the pages’. At first, it seems none of them have any redeeming characteristics, but no one is all bad. It just takes the right situation for the good to surface.

There’s a live streaming nightcrawler, that can’t stoop low enough for his subscribers. Which is worse? The one chasing down the story, or the one that can’t wait to read about someone else’s downfall.

How about a street lawyer that helps those least fortunate. Can he keep his life ‘clean’?

How about a woman who works for an underground concierge company? Nothing is out of bounds.

Does this shine a spotlight on what our society is becoming? Too many of the situations have a ring of truth to them. I do love walking on the dark side, as long as it is only a story, and this is about as dark as it can get. Filled with nonstop action, leaving me feeling like I need to take a shower.

My thanks go out to NetGalley and Mulholland Books for the opportunity to read A Violent Masterpiece by Jordan Harper.

This epic crime novel tells a story of Los Angeles power brokers and those at the edge—and a single shattering incident that threatens to bring it all crashing down.

Los Angeles, right now. America with its back up against the wall. This Frankenstein’s monster of crimes and lurid dreams sewn together into something like a city.

A city ready to explode: A Hollywood pedophile is arrested, and is ready to tear down the city to get his freedom. A young woman goes missing — and men in black rubber gloves who look like cops clean out her apartment in the middle of the night. And the serial killer known as the LA Ripper is on the loose, leaving tragic/graphic/brutal crime scenes in his wake. Three people trying to keep their heads above the dirty water will find themselves coming together to unite these strands into one enormous, unspeakable crime …

JAKE DEAL is a gonzo live-streaming nightcrawler, beaming the city’s chaos straight to his audience of blood-hungry subscribers, giving them the view from the top of the mushroom cloud — until a job he can’t refuse drags him back into his old life of Hollywood glamour, drugs, sex and sleaze. Armed with cameras and hidden mics, he’ll infiltrate private clubs, gather high-class dirt — and stumble onto a conspiracy woven into the center of LA’s most powerful men, who call themselves “The Kids in the Candy Store.”

DOUG GIBSON is a street lawyer, who fights for his clients against the army of cops, prosecutors and judges – he is the knife they bring to the gunfight. But when he’s hired by a Hollywood pedophile ready to sell out his friends for a chance for freedom, he’ll take on a fight bigger than he could have imagined. And when his client “commits suicide” in prison, Gibson will have to stop being a weapon – and become a warrior.

KARA DELGADO works for an underground private concierge company – a make-a-wish foundation for the terminally rich. She scores drugs, makes connections, and plans multi-million dollar sex parties. She has learned the secret truth of this world: there are no rules, only prices. Her best friend Phoebe has gone missing, and Kara’s the only person who knows that Phoebe’s place was wiped clean of evidence by men in black rubber gloves. But when she begins to unravel the mystery of what happened to Phoebe, and its connection to the killer known as the LA Ripper, it will drag her into the dark heart of the city.

As Jake, Doug and Kara all investigate these crimes, they’ll encounter ketamine-addled sitcom stars, bloody riots, homeless gangsters, a killer cop on death row, secret vaults in Beverly Hills, tech-bro orgies, medical cannibals, true crime junkies, private security wet-work teams, reality shows, street takeovers, car chases, coyotes, a sadistic Tarzan, and a three day, fifty million dollar wedding, before everything is revealed and they must each make their choice about how to fight back in this violent world before the bloody, blazing conclusion.

Military Romance Review – Wicked Scars by Jane Blythe @jblytheauthor #wickedscars #bearspotspublications

Amazon / KindleUnlimited / Goodreads

Jane Blythe is a must read author for me and I am excited to read Wicked Scars, Prey Security: Bravo Team #6. I have been reading about Beth for some time and am very curious about what happened to her when she went missing for eight months. She has amnesia, so she can’t tell them.

Axel “Axe” Lindon, Beth’s husband, has the patience of a saint, but he is far from one. He will do whatever is necessary to help his wife, Beth, putting his life on the line to get the answers she needs.

The explosive beginning sets the hook, and we are off and running.

Jane Blythe is great at putting her characters ‘through the ringer’? The danger and suspense ramp up as the story progresses. But, I did run across some bumps along the way and had those moments where I thought, nope, not going there. Wicked Scars was not my favorite, but I was eager to find out Beth’s story, so there was no way I would turn away. The questions asked were given the answers that we all, readers and characters alike, were looking for.

That’s okay that Wicked Scars wasn’t my favorite, though, because I know there will be another story, another book, another series coming my way and I can hardly wait to enter any world that Jane Blythe has created.

My thanks go out to Jane Blythe for the opportunity to share Wicked Scars, Prey Security: Bravo Team #6 with you.

Amnesia has stolen everything from her.

Beth Lindon doesn’t remember a single thing about who she or what happened to her to cause her mind to check out and blank out an entire lifetime. All she knows is she’s supposedly married to the man who saved her life six years ago. When her husband is almost killed in an explosion she knows she either has to remember of she’ll lose the man everyone tells her she was madly in love with.

For Axel “Axe” Lindon there is nothing worse than having your wife back in your life but being unable to comfort her, help her heal, because she has no idea who you are. His determination to get answers almost got himself and his teammates killed but he’s not stopping. Not until his wife remembers him and she’s back in his arms where she belongs.

But things aren’t as they seem, danger is circling closer, and without Beth’s memories they’re all sitting ducks.

Review – Nowhere To Hide by Carolyn Arnold @carolynarnold #netgalley #nowheretohide

Amazon / KindleUnlimited / Goodreads

Nowhere To Hide by Carolyn Arnold is described as an unputdownable and pulse pounding thriller…and I totally agree. Carolyn Arnold has the ability to bring her characters to life, sharing their personal and professional lives, making them become real on the pages.

I am loving Sandra Vos, Carolyn Arnold’s latest character to shine in her own series. She is fallible, yet always tries to do the right thing. She sacrifices her personal time to a crisis that could cost a man his life. He wants answers, and she wants to supply them.

I love when the peripheral characters stand out as well as the main characters. I wonder…will they appear in a later story? Could they possible have their own story? You can never be sure where the trail would lead, and I am open to traveling down the road with them.

Looking for a must read author? Carolyn Arnold has multiple series that are sure to entertain you for hours…and, if you are anything like me…trying to solve the mystery before she puts it out there for all to see.

Thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for the opportunity to share Nowhere To Hide by Carolyn Arnold.

He paced while keeping his eye on his hostages. They watched him back with their gazes fixed on each step he took. Locking eyes with the father in a home so luxurious, so unlike his own, he knew this was his only chance for justice after all these years. He’d stop at nothing to get it.

When a lone gunman takes an entire family hostage in a wealthy suburb, there is only one FBI negotiator he’ll engage with. Special Agent Sandra Vos hit the headlines for bringing a crisis incident at Founders Hospital to a close, but there’s no time to rest with a family’s life in her hands.

Arriving on the scene, Sandra discovers that Edward Hanson and his family are the hostages. Edward is the son of the late Timothy Hanson who left his entire fortune to his son. While it seems this may be all about money, the hostage taker makes a demand that is far more personal. Reopen an investigation into a fatal car accident from thirty-three years ago or he shoots the entire family. But how does this connect to the Hansons?

Sandra calls in her boyfriend, Detective Eric Birch, at the Metropolitan Police Department, and asks him to dig into the case. Eric works to untangle a web of lies which leads him straight to the heart of the police force. But can any of this help Sandra talk the hostage taker down and save the family? And how much will Eric need to sacrifice in the pursuit of the truth?

A completely addictive mystery thriller perfect for fans of Kendra Elliot’s Mercy Kilpatrick series, Mary Stone and Elle Gray.

Review – The Last Mandarin by Louise Penny & Melissa Fung #netgalley #louisepenny #melissafung

Last Mandarin Louise Penny Mellissa Fung

Amazon / Goodreads

The Last Mandarin by Louise Penny and Mellissa Fung is my first book by both authors. I grabbed a copy from NetGalley when I saw it, because my mother in law loves Louise Penny. I was not disappointed and I always appreciate a stand alone novel.

The Last Mandarin is look at two unlikely heroines, Alice Li, a first generation Chinese American and food blogger, and her mother, Vivien Li, a Chinese dissident, who escaped China after the famous Tiananmen Square standoff.

It begins when security and fire alarms go off all across the globe and the signal is traced back to China. Alice Li and her mother, Vivien Li are called to the White House, hoping they can decode the transmissions. Things don’t go where I thought they would and I love when an author can grab my attention and never let it go.

The suspense builds slowly. Power and greed drive the characters. Things are not as they seem, but the truth needs to be quashed or China could erupt into political disaster. I really like this twist. The mother and daughter relationship will be put to the ultimate test.

Could this be our future? Will wars still be fought by feet on the ground, or will everything cyber be the rule? How big a role with social media play? Aren’t we already living in a world where the fifth estate, social media, has the one of the loudest voices? This is one example of how something good can be twisted into something bad.

A standalone thriller co-written by the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Gamache series and an award-winning journalist.

In a fast-paced, all-too-real thriller co-written by #1 New York Times bestselling author Louise Penny and award-winning journalist Mellissa Fung, global politics become personal for two unlikely heroines. Alice Li, a first-generation Chinese-American, is an erstwhile food blogger who has lived in the shadow of her mother, Vivien Li. A Chinese dissident who escaped China after Tiananmen Square, Vivien is now a globally recognized human rights activist and passionate advocate for a free and democratic China.

When security and fire alarms go off simultaneously all around the world, setting off a panic, the signal is traced back to China. As world leaders scramble to respond, Vivien and Alice are called to the White House in hopes Madame Li can decode the Chinese intentions.

While it makes some sense that the President would turn to Vivien, since she regularly advises world leaders on the actions of today’s Chinese government, what isn’t clear is why they’d want to talk to Alice.

After looking at the evidence, Vivien says that the only thing worse than the Chinese government being behind it, is if they are not. It would mean, she explains, that some clandestine element within China is calling the shots. That the President of China has lost control. And an unstable China cannot be good for anyone.

Or perhaps that’s exactly what the shrewd old politician wants everyone to think.

Caught up in the chaos, Vivien and Alice are uniquely placed to stop the next, cataclysmic attack. But there are forces deep within both the American and Chinese governments intent on stopping mother and daughter. The estranged pair, who excels at misunderstanding each other, must figure out how to work together.

The increasingly frantic search for answers takes the women from the Oval Office to an office building in Akron, Ohio, from the noodle shops of Hong Kong to the necropolis of the first emperor. Along the way they must decode an old legend, and an old language invented by women, for women.

The Last Mandarin is an electrifying study of absolute power and voracious greed, political terror and personal conviction. But it is also, as to be expected from the minds of Louise Penny, beloved author of the Gamache novels, and Mellissa Fung, an acclaimed international journalist, an intimate examination of choice, of sacrifice, of memory and myths, both cultural and personal. It is the story of a mother and daughter, as well as a compelling international thriller about the precarious balance of power across the world, and within a family. And what happens when both break down.

Review – Lies To Forever by Marlene M Bell #marlenembell #liestoforever #Ewephoric

Amazon / Goodreads

Lies To Forever by Marlene M Bell is dark and dangerous for April Manning. Marlene writes some fabulous mysteries, but she has upped her game with this convoluted thriller, filled with obsession and betrayal.

April’s life is moving along and she’s feeling good about herself and her situation…until she’s finds her savings has been siphoned from her bank account. Her generous nature leads to her downfall when she is served an eviction notice and the landlord of her dream home is missing. Her boss at the architecture firm she works for comes up dead. Everything revolves around April, but she has no clue why she is in someone’s crosshairs.

She is being stalked and set up to take the fall. Mysterious packages appear on her doorstep, wind chimes appear out of nowhere, bringing her past to mind, a past she thought she had left behind.

She’s lucky that her exboyfriend, Hunter, willingly steps up to the plate to help her out. It made me very suspicious. Her friend and coworker, Kelly, offers her some money and a place to stay. There are plenty of suspects as the investigation develops. Do they want her dead?

My spidey senses were tingling and my suspicions grew as the story moved along at a steady clip. The book has short chapters that make for easy reading. As the suspense grew, my need to know the answers increased. I love that there are those ‘don’t go in the basement’ moments.

My thanks go out to Marlene M Bell and Ewephoric for the opportunity to review Lies To Forever.

First they stole her trust. Now they want her life.

April Manning’s generous nature has always been a gift, and her greatest weakness. After being scammed out of her life savings by a trusted friend, April is left with an eviction notice and one last hope: reclaiming her position as an interior designer at her old architectural firm, even if it means a showdown with head architect Hunter Ellis, her cheating ex.

But that’s not the only hitch. When the owner of the firm turns up dead, the last thing April expects to find is the bloody murder weapon on her doorstep.

Now the killer sets a plan for April and suspicion flares at every turn…from the mysterious new handyman, to an estranged family member she’s tried to forget. Chased from her dream home and cornered like prey, April is hemmed by the wintry forests of Tennessee with few options. As chilling memories of childhood abandonment haunt her, it seems everyone has a hidden agenda to take April down.

Only one thing is certain. A monster is stalking Smoky Creek, and April must unmask them before they land the fatal blow.

Review – The Gravewood by Kelly Andrew #kellyandrew #netgalley #thegravewood

The Gravewood
The Gravewood

Amazon / Goodreads

I love the bloody cover of The Gravewood by Kelly Andrew, and I love anything vampire, so this was an easy book for me to get lost in. The story takes place in a dystopian world. We have some diverse characters, which adds that extra little bit to keep me interested. I have to know what will happen to Shea.

Shea is the main female character and there are two men, one a vampire, competing for her heart. Shea is deaf and made a deal with Lys, the vampire. She would let him feed from her in exchange for batteries for her hearing aid. Then, we have Asher, a human that has his sights on Shea too. It is kind of a ‘Twilight’ sort of story and I loved Twilight.

We shift between points of view, which helps to reveal each character’s motivations for their actions taken. We have plenty of blood and gore to fill my mind with visuals. I love the blend of apocalyptic/dystopian and paranormal/supernatural.

The downside of The Gravewood by Kelly Andrew is waiting for Book II of the duology.

My thanks go out to NetGalley and Scholastic Press for the opportunity to read and review The Gravewood by Kelly Andrew.

4 Stars

An instant New York Times bestseller! The first in a darkly romantic duology that explores disability, obsession, and the twisted limits of loyalty.

Shea Parker has lived her entire life in the shadow of the Gravewood, an impassable forest that’s cut off her town from the rest of the world. With resources limited and supplies scarce, Shea is forced to carefully ration her hearing aid batteries. When her stash runs out, she’ll be left in the silence.

Desperate, Shea turns to the only person who can help — Oliver Lysander, the volatile leader of a vampiric gang that rules the Gravewood.

The arrangement between Shea and Lysander starts off simply enough. She gives him her blood. He tracks down batteries. They don’t cross any lines. They don’t make it personal. But when Shea’s best friend is lured into the Gravewood, her disappearance brings her older brother home from the frontlines. Asher Thorley is willing to do whatever it takes to find his sister, even if it means holding Shea’s ugliest secrets over her head.

Ever an opportunist, Lysander renegotiates the terms of their deal. If Asher takes out Lysander’s vampire rival, Lysander will help him find his sister. And if Shea agrees to Turn, Lysander will give her a cure for her ailing mother. For the first time ever, Shea finds herself leaving home. Swallowed up in the dreamlike dark of the Gravewood and traveling in the company of killers, it isn’t long before she risks becoming one herself.

$20 GC – Off Season by Clive Fleury @goddessfish #clivefleury #ofseason

OFF SEASON by Clive Fleury

GENRE: Mystery

MY REVIEW

We begin with Detective Ramesh Ryan leaving Sydney in disgrace. He worked in the Organized Crime Unit and is now on his way to the small town of Barton. It seems murder follows him and for a small town, Barton has an influx of dead bodies.

Detective Ramesh Ryan is a fastidious man and Clive Fleury’s description of him brings Ramesh to life on the pages. There are many characters and, at times, I thought I would need a glossary to follow them all. That leads to many suspects and many of them have no redeeming qualities.

The mystery and danger followed Detective Ramesh Ryan to Barton. At first, he wasn’t aware of just how dangerous his life had become. The pace picked up as the story unfolded. The mystery kept me guessing, but I was never on the edge of my seat.

3 Stars

BLURB

Detective Ramesh Ryan’s career with Sydney’s prestigious Organized Crime Unit is on the up, until he loses a court case against the city’s most powerful drug dealer. In disgrace, the detective is relocated to the tiny Australian beach town of Barton.

It is off season in Barton—when its few criminals usually take a well-earned rest. But not this year! With the detective’s arrival, the town suddenly becomes murder central. Two bodies are discovered in the space of days, both victims of drug overdoses. Then a mysterious foot is found washed up on the beach, and memories are awoken of an unsolved cold case of the teenager who disappeared fifteen years ago. Add to this a blossoming romance, along with a contract taken out on Ryan’s life, and it’s clear that the detective has jumped out of the Sydney frying pan into the Barton fire.

What follows is an action-packed adventure, thrilling at every turn—where truth and lies are almost impossible to separate, and unexpected twists are the order of the day.

EXCERPT

As the night drew on, the rain poured down ever heavier, and the waves grew bigger and stronger.  They tossed the twenty-foot boat from side to side and up and down. The skipper had never been out in weather like this before. Nor had his friend. He was now clutching tight to the underside of his seat, his face green, his breathing labored.

“Almost there,” the skipper yelled, though, in truth, neither had decided where there was.  They just needed to be a reasonable distance from the shore.

“This is fine,” his friend shouted back.  “Let’s do it.”

The skipper cut the engine. “You take the helm.”

His friend tried to stand but fell back as the boat rocked violently. He shook his head. “I can’t.”

Standing and releasing the wheel, the skipper leaned over, yanking the man to his feet. “Hold on,” he said, placing his friend’s hands on his shoulders and guiding him onto the captain’s seat. “Now, take it.”

His friend lurched forward, catching the spinning wheel and clutching it tightly.

“Don’t let go,” the skipper ordered.

Leaning into the buffeting wind, the skipper set off for the stern. He reached the waterproof covering, stooped, and pulled the wrapping away. He tasted vomit rising in his mouth as he peered over at the lifeless body. Swallowing hard, he composed himself.  “What was that song?” the man thought. “Always look on the bright side of life.” He grabbed the dead man’s arms and yanked the corpse forward. He was much stronger and heavier than the corpse so he could slide it along the sodden wooden deck. Then, wrapping his arms around the dead man’s ribs, he heaved it up, balancing it on the side of the boat. One more push, and it would be over.  He stood, winded, and peered back through the rain up to the bow. Good, his friend was still holding tight to the wheel.

The skipper wrapped his arms around the corpse. Its head, which had been leaning back, lurched forward, knocking into his stomach. He tried to think of something else besides the cold dead eyes that were staring up at him. What about how lucky they had been? No one had seen them when they had set out. He smiled. So there it was. The bright side!

“Time to do this, ” he thought. Grabbing the cadaver’s legs tight, he tipped them forward, at the same time pushing hard. In one fluid movement, the corpse cleared the side of the boat, dropping into the churning ocean. It disappeared almost immediately, leaving no trace.

Review – Shadows Of The Missing by Lauren Carr @iReadBookTours @TheMysteryLadie #shadowsofthemissing

GUEST POST

I am happy to have Lauren Carr on fundinmental today. Welcome, Lauren.

10 Reasons to Become a Murder Mystery Writer

By Lauren Carr

  1. You tried writing erotica, but things went seriously wrong during research and now your husband is in traction. Now, he refuses to help you do research for that genre anymore, so you need to find a genre that is less dangerous.

OR–

  • You have a really bad boss, but you can’t quit your job, so the only option you have is to kill him. But you don’t want to go to jail because—
    •  you’ll miss too much work,
    • and then you’ll get fired, in which case you might as well have quit your job instead of killing your boss.

Therefore, you need to kill your boss and know how to get away with it. You have come up with the perfect murder.

  • After having committed the perfect murder, you have to brag about it! But if you brag about it:
    • everyone will know you killed your boss,
    • and then you’ll go to jail,

If you are a mystery lover, you can’t go wrong with a Lauren Carr novel.

Shadows Of The Missing by Lauren Carr is a mystery on steroids. She blends the whodunit with suspense and thrills, making it hard to stop reading. I love the Geezer Squad and Chris Matheson. I love when secrets are exposed. We all know, you can’t run from your past. It follows you wherever you go.

The further into the book I get, the more the suspense rises and the pace picks up. There are multiple story lines and many suspects. It had me wondering what they all had in common and how the mystery would be solved.

There are a lot of characters and a list of them are in the front of the book. I have been reading Lauren Carr’s books for a long time now, so I am familiar with a lot of them.

My thanks go out to Lauren Carr for the opportunity to read and review Shadows Of The Missing.

Review – The Girl Upstairs by Jessica R Patch @jessicarpatch #jessicarpatch #thegirlupstairs

Amazon / Goodreads

I am still amazed that I only recently came across Jessica R Patch. She is a prolific writer and her books fit in perfectly on my book shelf. She has now become an automatic read whenever I see one of her books available.

Gwen McDaniel’s life is a mess, so, WTH, why not buy a rundown house in Cold Harbor, Maine…that is in dire need of a renovation? Their marriage could use an overhaul too. Immediately we are drawn in to drafty rooms and music playing, yet no one is there.

I was immersed in the ominous mystery. The pacing kept the suspense rising, the further into the book I got. The twists and turns gave me many aha moments, sometimes wondering why I didn’t see that coming. That is how good Jessica R Patch’s stories are. She sneaks those nuggets of emotional turmoil below the obvious, amazing me as she delivers blow after blow to Gwen. The danger rises and there are those who will do anything to stop the secrets being exposed. I didn’t know whether to race through the pages to find out what happens, or relax and enjoy the journey.

Many thanks go out to NetGalley, Harlequin, and Jessica R Patch for the opportunity to read The Girl Upstairs.

he bought this house to save her marriage. Unearthing its secrets might just claim her life.

Gwen McDaniel’s life is broken. But she knows the perfect place to fix it. Cold Harbor, Maine, an idyllic small town with views of Acadia National Park, is where she used to vacation with her parents as a child. Here, she and Steven can start over, renovating their cliff-side fixer-upper while patching up their marriage. Soon, everything will be better.

Except from the moment they arrive, Gwen sees and hears things, and it’s more than just the drafts and shadows that are part of any old house. Steven downplays her fears, warning her not to fixate on problems as she has in the past. But Gwen spent years as a homicide detective, and her instincts don’t lie. Something happened here. Proof comes when she rips up the attic’s carpet to discover a chilling message carved into the wood underneath.

As Gwen delves into the history of the house and the Cold Harbor community, she begins to piece the fragments together. And gradually, a terrifying picture A missing girl. A house of horrors. And a dark, decades-old nightmare that is more haunting than Gwen ever imagined…

Review – Damaged: Life. Death. Memory. Uncertainty @MichaelGeczi #damaged

Amazon / KindleUnlimited / Goodreads

I have read some of Michael Geczi’s work and enjoyed his stories very much, so I was excited to get a glimpse of his new novel, Damaged: Life. Death. Memory. Uncertainty.

Shay Landon, a former Special Agent In Charge of the Minneapolis Field Office had been on leave for nine months, following the death of his partner. People had told Jacoby Overton, the new Special Agent In Charge, that Shay had a talent for seeing things others didn’t, so he was hoping his return to work would be fortuitous.

Michael Geczi delves into some difficult issues. The mind is a complex organ and it works hard to protect itself. Shay Landon will find himself in some uncertain situations. Can he trust that his memories are true? He works hard to hide the issues that are plaguing him. I was right there at his side as he struggles….

I’m not sure how I thought the story would end, but I didn’t see that coming. In hindsight, it seems obvious and that’s all I’m saying. Well done, Michael.

My thanks go out to Michael Geczi for the opportunity to review Damaged: Life. Death. Memory. Uncertainty.

“Damaged.” Life. Death. Memory. Uncertainty.

Perfect for fans of Dennis Lehane and Tana French.

Shay Landon, former SAC at the FBI’s Minneapolis Field Office, has wrapped up nine months of mandatory leave following the death of his former partner and Assistant Special Agent in Charge.

In theory, time well spent on counseling, rest, and confronting discrepancies in his recollections of the death of his colleague, compared with the official record. In reality, trapped in therapy, lying to his doctors and his wife, second‑guessed by the Bureau, and haunted by a version of events no one else seems to share.

Today is scheduled to be his first day back at the office – not as the boss any longer, but in a special consulting role. No gun, no command, no field work. Just “analysis.” He kisses his wife, Cara, goodbye, heads into the dark garage to get in his car, and readies himself for his new beginning.

It’s too soon, however. He’s not ready. The world has tilted.

And there are mirrors everywhere reflecting back on him.
