MY REVIEW

When The Silence Breaks is Elizabeth Goddards first book in her new Mercy Ridge series. It takes place in the Cascade Mountains in the Pacific Northwest. It’s light on the Christian fiction and heavy on the romantic suspense.

Sarah Ellison is an intelligence analyst who sets off on a dangerous adventure after her brother is murdered. She will need a guide and Ryder Goodwin, a former Navy Seal sense the danger. Of course, there is a winter storm moving in that adds to the danger. I love the added suspense a storm creates.

I love reading romantic suspense and Elizabeth Goddard is a pro at writing a book that is sure to entertain. She has the right blend of mystery mixed with the danger that creates building tension. The pace is constant, as they duck and weave their way up and down the mountain. The romance heats up at as Sarah and Ryder dodge the danger that dogs their every step.

I want to thank Revell and Elizabeth Goddard for the opportunity to share When The Silence Breaks.

MY REVIEW

I don’t read a lot of romance, unless it has a suspenseful or paranormal twist, but I jumped on board Cinematic Destinies because of the publicity push. I don’t know if I missed out on anything because I haven’t read the previous two books in the Red Carpet Romance series. I sometimes grab a simple romance to cleanse my pallet. I read a lot of books and if I read too many of one particular genre back to back, they all seem to blend together. A refresher has me coming back raring to go.

Cinematic Destinies by Patricia Leavy is about the fairy tale Hollywood romance of the parents and how their children learn that everything is not always as it seems. As the children grow and work through their own problems, they strive to have a happy ever after.

Cinematic Destinies is pretty much what I expected. It makes for a great summer read.

MY REVIEW

Sinister Remnants by Anita Dickason is the fourth book in the Tori Winters Mystery series. Anita uses her vast experience with law enforcement to deliver a complex mystery. As Tori Winters prepares for the grand opening of Red Door Inn, she learns of a rumor stating that she is not the true owner.

I love this group of ladies: Tori, Mia, Heidi, Tina, and Cammie are more than friends, they are family. I love their relationship and I am sure the Red Door Inn will be a success, until a remnant arises and threatens her ownership of the mansion. Of course, we have some wonderful men that stand beside them. At the moment, they are all single, but we shall see how long that lasts.

Tori and Mia play Sherlock and Watson, going off on their own investigations. They don’t always use their best judgment and that can land them in some awkward, if not dangerous, situations.

I love the pretty cover for Sinister Remnants by Anita Dickason. It foreshadows the mystery that lies between the pages. We do have plenty of villains that want to get their hands on the mansion. Murder and mayhem knock on the door. Anita writes a clean mystery, suitable for all ages. She follows her characters as they grow their life situations change. I look forward to spending more time with the ladies and their beaus. I am curious what kind of mystery Anita will come up with next.

MY REVIEW

Fright by Kevin Bachar is 218 pages of terror, horror, and fear. Great cover. You may want to brace yourself, turn on all the lights, and lock the door. I have read some of his work and it never fails to entertain me, leaving me wondering how he comes up with some of these short stories. He can take a rental car and a simple CD and make them deadly. These fifteen tales kept me entertained. Some I enjoyed more than others, and I do look forward to reading more of Kevin Bachar’s work.

MY REVIEW

Fighting For Scarlett by Jane Blythe is the first book in a new series with a new team, the Athena Team. They don’t work in the field. They are primarily scientists. Jane definitely puts her characters through the wringer. Emotions run riot and just because the man is manly, that doesn’t mean he is free of any dysfunctionality (Is that a word? If not, it should be. LOL)

At times I find myself wanting to reach into my Kindle and throttle the hell out of Tate. Who’s to say how someone will react when they are saddled with as much baggage as Scarlett and Tate. Trust and communication are always an issue with Jane Blythe’s characters. Doesn’t that sound like real life? Tate may think life with a woman is a one night stand, but I think we all know that Scarlett will be the exception to that rule. Jane Blythe does love her happy ever afters, but it is the journey to the happy ever after that fascinates me.

Scarlett works for Prey Security, but working in the lab seems like a tame job. That is, until she has developed something that someone wants and will stop at nothing to get their hands on it. Well all know that something good can always be used for something bad.

Knowing Jane, I am waiting for the twist. Sure, there are things that trip me up, but I am able to let a lot of things slide and let an author take me where they want me to go. After all, they are the one giving the characters a voice. It’s nice to see some familiar characters, along with the new.

MY REVIEW

The Tundra Passage by K A Jarvis is a standalone novel in The After Collection series. I love novels that take place, at least for the beginning, in a familiar place, Florida. Then we travel to the opposite extreme, Alaska. Secrets will be uncovered and I love the consequences that arise because of it.

Grace is a veterinarian living in Florida. When she finds her father’s secret, she’s on a plane to Alaska to hunt him down and get the answers for herself. She gets more than she bargained for.

We have Grace, an eleven year old girl, a climatologist and a wolf dog. They will be stranded in the Alaskan Tundra, after surviving an airplane crash that is caused by a ccyber attack. I love when there are animals included in the story. It adds something extra to the story, and I love it.

Mystery. Intrigue. Hope. Family. Survival. I have a feeling that cyber attacks will become a bigger part in the real world, so I’m always curious to see how authors will handle it in the fictional world. K A Jarvis did not let me down. I was quickly drawn in by the characters and storyline.

    MY REVIEW

    Her Silence is my first foray into the writing of S T Ashman, and it won’t be my last. I always marvel at finding so many wonderful writers that supply me with endless hours of entertainment. So, let’s get down to brass tacks.

    For Nicole, it all begins with a 4 am phone call. Lacey, her daughter, is found in the woods beside her friend’s dead husband. They messed with the wrong woman, and Nicole is going rain hell on those who chose to bring trouble to her world. Secrets. Corruption. Vengeance.

    I love stories that get my emotions riled up. This family had me laughing and loving, bringing tears to my eyes. I love strong female main characters that capture my attention, making it hard for me to look away. Unputdownable. Riveting. I’ll be on the lookout for more work by S T Ashman.

    They say ‘Maggie Wise will take your eyes’.

    It all starts when Maggie Wise kicks the bucket. She elicited a promise from her son, Malcom, to take her home to Shediak, Maine. They must bury her before the second sunrise, so the race is on. Those she had cursed, forced to burrow deep underground, are rising to make sure that doesn’t happen.

    The characters are well rounded and they will be tested.

    A train wreck, a snowplow, a flying monster, creatures that refuse to die, and more are determined to rip the head off of Maggie and break the curse. It’s like running through a swarm of zombies, they will rip and gnaw and tear you apart. The suspense is off the charts. The minute I think they can pause and catch their breath, another monster pops up, putting their lives on the line…again and again.

    Psychological Thriller – Perfect by P J Gudka #pjgudka #perfect

    MY REVIEW

    Perfect by P J Gudka starts out with a Prologue that immediately captured my interest, and I do love a great Prologue. It takes place in a small town, and we all know how difficult it is to keep a secret, especially in a small town.

    I love a book with characters that have a lot to be desired. I don’t think there was one ‘good’ character. It does make for some interesting reading.

    I love a surprise ending, and Perfect by P J Gudka supplied that.

    All in all Perfect is a read worthy novel, supplying enough of a mystery to keep me engaged, needing to know how the story will end. I’m not sure why I couldn’t really connect with the characters. I love villains, and there was no short supply of them. I guess I’ll have to leave it to you to decide if this one’s for you.
