Sherry’s Shelves – 8.6 – 8.12.23 #weeklyupdate #sundaymemes

Hi Everyone. I have been hit and miss on some of my weekend posts, but that is to be expected, during the summer season, especially. We had friends over and took a quick road trip. It is still sooo hot, that we don’t do much outside. We did some organizing in the garage and I am very happy with it. What we haven’t done will have to wait until it cools off. We had some ants visit us and that ticked me off so bad, I got the poison out. I never found how they got in, but one dose and an ant trap and I haven’t seen any since. So, we organized the spice shelves and the cupboard beside them. Mr Wonderful will be working some freelance, so I’ll probably binge on some Lucifer….AGAIN. I just can’t seem to help myself. I love the character soooo much. I am so happy that football season has come. We are trying to figure out if we can get everything we have now, if we drop cable. I watch a lot of cable TV and I don’t want to miss my programs. Plus, I have contour, so even if I’m out of town, I can watch…most of my shows. They do block some. BUT, the cost is becoming ridiculous. AND, the service…I don’t think they care any more. It seems they have a – take it or leave it – attitude. We shall see.

Do you have any plans? Have you read any good books? Whatcha doing?

  1. I think a lot of people are trying to figure out how to get what they want on tv and yet cut the huge cable bill.

It sounds like you are getting a lot done, Sherry, in spite of the heat.

    Good luck!

  2. I’ve never had cable. We have some streaming and mostly I don’t watch it. I read. I used to watch a LOT of shows, recording them to a VHS, then DVD so I could watch them. But the only one I really miss is the Olympics. I hope we all get the usual cool down that happens in a couple weeks.

  3. We haven’t had anykind of cable in years. With the right mix of streaming services, we get everything we want… I think there are so many options now you just need to find the right combination for you.

  4. Yes, summer is a busy time in real-life. Nice that you enjoyed a road trip and got some organizing done! That always feels so good! I hate ant problems. We’ve only had a couple episodes with them this summer. Seems like they come out when it’s really hot. Happy reading and enjoy the rest of your week! 🙂

  5. Ants are such a pain. I miss cable at times. Not the bill, but just mindlessly channel surfing and sometimes finding something. I pretty much stream everything now and that’s not always as fun. 🙂 It’s too expensive though, sadly.

  6. I’m loving football preseason and can’t wait for college! Yrs, we have Direct and it does keep going up. But we don’t go out much so its kind of our guilty pleasure. Hope you have a great week!

  7. I hate ants. I went through several tunes of caulk years ago, plugging any cracks and holes they could be getting in through.

I loved Lucifer. Such a good show.

  8. Netflix, Amazon and YouTube seem to be enough for us. We have dropped to the lowest Netflix tier to save money though.
I hate ants when they get in the house, they are so insistent.

Wishing you a happy reading week

  9. Ugh cable is awful. I got rid of mine probably about 5 years ago, but my parents are going through the same as you- prices are out of control, and the service is declining too. I have been trying to get them to cut it for years, I think they’re just about ready! Good luck to you with your situation! And I hate ants, so I don’t blame you a bit for the poison heh.
