V E Huntley has become a must read author for me. Her books have entertained me for hours on end and I eagerly crack open each new novel, knowing I am about to be wowed again and again. After reading the Watched In Darkness series, I was super excited to get the 411 on Ricky, an orphaned raccoon.

Ricky is a very special raccoon. Raised by what would become his two favorite humans, he has a large personality. He learned early about boobs and cannot resist squeezing them whenever he gets the chance. He is wily and adventurous and had me smiling and laughing throughout the prequel novella.

The Watched In Darkness series is dark and I love the darkness, but I can also enjoy a little bit of humor with the dark. Ricky definitely supplies that. Even though Ricky is the star of the show, I don’t want to lose sight of Luna Foster, who built the Sage & Summit Wildlife Sanctuary, her best friend, Maren, and the handsome neighbor that moves in next door. It was soooo easy to become invested in the characters, being drawn into their story, unable to look away.
