Sunday Post #431 August

Hello fellow bloggers. Today, Saturday, is a beautiful day. The sun is shining and there is a light breeze. I’m watching some college football. It is such a trip. So many games keep getting cancelled or postponed because of Covid. The pandemic has been a boon for some of the lesser teams. I mean, who would think that Liberty and Coastal Carolina would be ranked higher than Michigan. Oh, and Jimmy, sorry, but you have to go. Michigan has been playing terrible. The coaching sucks and the players act like they just don’t care. It’s been interesting watching, but the National Championship? I love that they are playing, but I think it is ridiculous, as the pandemic rages across the country.

I am getting down about not being able to go to the beach and grab some wings at Hooters, watching the waves break on the beach or going to my favorite Mexican restaurant.

Of course, I keep forgetting to share my Hurricane Sally photos, but the hurricane took out the new bridge to the beach and it is about an hour there and back. It will be like that for the next six months. So glad we decided not to live on the beach. Maybe we’ll hop down to Perdido Bay and do our Christmas photo this year, instead of Pensacola Beach.

Mr Wonderful has been working a lot of freelance. They held the Sunbelt Soccer and Volleyball tournaments over in Alabama, which is close to us. I am sure this was only done because of Covid, but with him being out of work and his last paycheck coming in December, we will gladly take it. This is one of those situations, when a door closes a window opens.

Even though it may not feel like it right now, this too shall pass. So keep the faith and stay safe.

    • i wasn’t able to watch it here in florida, but i was keeping up with the score. what a surprise…somehow michigan pulled it out. i was very impressed with rutgers. this could be the death nell for jim harbaugh

  1. Liberty and Virginia Tech are in my neck of the woods. I was astounded when Liberty beat VT. Maybe it’s more than covid-related. Liberty has been working hard on recruiting bigger players and stuff. I guess time will tell.

I, too, am a little blue about not going to places I used to go. Dear Husband and I are going on a date this week. Instead of our fave Mex restaurant, we are going through a gourmet coffee drive-thru. We’ll sit in a park and watch the birds.:-)

  2. I like the serendipity of sports during the pandemic. I am glad some small teams got a chance to be in the limelight.

I miss Mexican food, too. We used to go to our favorite Mexican food restaurant every week, and now we’ve only done carryout a few times. It’s just not the same.

The good news about hurricanes is that (fingers crossed) they may now be over.

Sending good luck for your husband in finding a new and wonderful job.

    • you’re right, some lesser known teams are probably making a lot of money by being on tv and i love watching them. i saw liberty, coastal carolina and a couple of others. have my fingers crossed for no more hurricanes. the season is almost over….

  3. Ha, yeah, some of the typically higher-ranked teams are really choking, but then one sees Ohio State right on track. I was really cheering for Indiana to knock them off their perch. Love underdogs!
Glad your hurricane alley time might be at an end. Hope your husband is able to find something new that he loves.

    Have a good week, Sherry!

    • i was rooting for indiana. i watched the game and it was exciting. they hung in there for a long time. i love underdogs too, but also, anyone playing ohio state. LOL

  4. The weather has continued to be great. I’ve enjoyed this weekend again before we get another cooler spell. I think it’s crazy any of them are playing with covid. Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you have a safe week with plenty of great reading!

    • glad to hear you have been enjoying the weather. i think it’s crazy they are playing too, but hey, what do i know…right? hope you have a safe and happy thanksgiving

    • we need to make our christmas card. we always go out to the beach, usually pensacola because it used to be shorter, but a nice scenic ride to perdido bay is very nice. have a great week and a wonderful thanksgiving holiday

  5. Michigan haha. And wow some wings and a beach sound pretty good right now. Is it spring break yet lol? Hopefully Covid will be better by then although I’m not holding my breath…

Oh no about the bridge! Yikes…

    Happy tHanksgiving!!!

    • i have my fingers crossed for spring break and the mullet toss at florabama. that’s the biggest beach party ever. they held it this year 🙁 but there was no way i was going and i don’t think anyone else should have either. we had friends of ours from our of state that went and i just don’t understand what they are thinking

  6. We’re having great weather too! Covid is sure interfering with everything, isn’t it? I hope you and your husband have a great Thanksgiving!

  7. College football is weird this year. My daughter’s school is in the Ohio Valley Conference and they are planning to play in the spring. I am glad that your husband has found a few opportunities after losing his job. I hope you have a great week!

  8. Glad to hear you’re enjoying the football games and ice weather. It’s important to find some joy and positive in life even with this pandemic ruining so much! 🙂

  9. Covid seems to be causing chaos in every aspect of our lives, in ways we never would have suspected. Sport has certainly been disrupted and some of the players and teams in different countries ain’t following the rules and Covid infection is disrupting schedules because of it. My football team is the same, games being called off at the last minute. You and Mr Wonderful stay safe!

    • yeah, here in florida, along with a lot of other places i am sure, people think they are immune, meeting in large crowds, no masks…they just can’t understand that it is not about personal freedoms, but our health, our very lives.

  10. I personally don’t understand the ‘sports must go on’ mentality which we’ve experienced here too.

Glad to know your husband has been able to pick up some work, I hope it leads to a more permanent opportunity

Wishing you a great reading week

  11. I miss Asian cooking more than Mexican, but if things continue, I’ll be able to juggle cooking them at home with my eyes closed, lol ! I’m lucky to live in the country, so my family and me walk around the village in the Covid limit of 1km. I’ll try to take pictures next time and share on my sunday post. Have a great week 😉
