Nicole gets the call at 4 a.m. Her daughter Lacey was found in the woods beside her friend’s dead husband. He was stabbed forty-four times. Lacey is barely alive. Covered in his blood. And completely mute.

She hasn’t said a word since. Not to the police. Not to her husband. Not even to Nicole.

Nicole had Lacey at seventeen and swore her daughter would have a good life. Now Lacey is sitting in a cell, and Nicole’s three grandchildren are left behind with a father who is losing it.

But Nicole knows her daughter. She isn’t a cold-blooded murderer. Guilt didn’t silence her. Fear did. Whatever happened in those woods scared Lacey more than prison.

So Nicole starts digging. But some secrets don’t save people. They destroy them.

“I heard a noise.” Dylan’s voice came from behind me.

I turned, still holding the bottle. He noticed it before I could hide it.

“What’s the date on it?” he asked, unfazed.

It took me a second to catch up. “Oh. Umm. Let me see.” I squinted at the label. “The stamp says the bottle is ten years old.”

He nodded. “Then it’s an old one.”

I looked at Dylan in a mix of admiration and sadness.

Admiration for how mature he was. Standing there like that. Calm and composed.

Sadness because that bottle was a reminder of darker times. When Brian’s parents died in their sleep from a carbon monoxide leak, it shattered the family. Brian fell into drinking, unable to cope with the loss.

It was Lacey, as always, who held everyone together and helped him through it.

“I’ll throw it away,” I said.

Dylan nodded again. “I better get back to Ethan and Lila.”

He turned and headed back upstairs. I followed on his heels and tossed the bottle into the kitchen trash just as the phone rang.

Brian.

As if he knew we’d just been talking about him.

“Hello?” I answered.

“Hey, it’s me. Did you talk to Lacey?”

“Yes, she called me when she was finishing up her shift to check in on the kids. Is everything all right up there?”

“Yeah … just … just wanted to see how you guys are doing.”

His tone wasn’t alarming or overly sweet. Just neutral.

“We’re good. Let me get the kids on the phone—”

“No, no. I’ll talk to them later. Amanda … she needs my help with something.”

I was sixteen when I found out not only am I an alien hybrid, but monsters called the Tai-Kok were getting ready to invade our world. Guess who gets to stop them? Me! How?

My uncle, the mad scientist, created a machine called the portal that instantaneously sends a test subject from one location to another by converting them into energy. His idea is to port me onto a Tai-Kok ship. All I have to do is leave a bomb, hit the retrieval button on my spiffy traveler’s belt and poof! I’m back on Earth before the Tai-Kok ship goes kaboom. Sounds simple, right?

Wrong. Uncle Ben doesn’t have a clue where I’ll actually appear on the ship. It could be the engine room, the crew quarters, or even the bridge. It’s like playing Russian roulette. The Tai-Kok don’t like surprises or uninvited guests.

To make things even more fun, I have an alien battle commander stuck in my head and I’m related to a powerful Coletti warlord. Yippee. The chances of me living to see eighteen aren’t good.

Read an Excerpt

“Give ‘em hell.” A wild look in his eyes, Uncle Ben tapped on the console.

The circles of light surrounded me, but this time it felt like a zillion fire ants were crawling over my body. Holy hell! Something had gone wrong! I appeared in midair and dropped like a rock. Smack! I slammed into someone, and my Glock went flying.

My eyes bugged. I was on the bridge of a futuristic warship, and the viewscreen showed one hell of a space battle going on. To make things even more fun, I was lying across the lap of a huge, muscle-bound male wearing black battle armor. Since he was sitting in the captain’s chair, I was assuming he was the boss.

A very angry-looking boss. I blinked. Holy cow was he good-looking, if you were into the whole merciless predator thing. Huh? The red chains woven into his black warrior’s braids matched the communication device on his left wrist. Who knew aliens accessorized and why did I care? I took a deep breath trying to control the panic streaking through me.

A low growl rumbled in his chest.

One look into his disturbingly hostile amber eyes and I knew I was in big trouble. I reached for my retrieval button.

His arms clamped around me painfully, and he spat a bunch of gobbledygook.

“Sorry, I don’t speak that language,” I replied mentally. Somehow, I knew he was psychic.

A harsh voice sounded in my head, “How did you get through our shields.”

“Dunno. My uncle is the scientific genius, not me. I’m just the delivery girl.”

“What do you deliver?”

Did I look stupid? The minute I told him bombs; he’d kill me. I pasted a friendly smile on my face. “Stuff. I’m Lexi and you are?”

“Battle Commander Kaelen. I serve Zarek the Coletti Overlord.”

About the Author: I was a 9-1-1 dispatcher for the Glendale Police Department and to keep from going totally bonkers – I mean people have no idea what a real emergency is. Take this for example: I answered, “9-1-1 emergency, what’s your emergency?” And this hysterical woman yelled, “My bird is in a tree.” Sometimes I really couldn’t help myself, so I said, “Birds have a tendency to do that, ma’am.” The woman screeched, “No! You don’t understand. My pet parakeet is in the tree. I’ve just got to get him down.” Like I said, not a clue. “I’m sorry ma’am but we don’t get birds out of trees.” The woman then cried, “But… What about my husband? He’s up there, too.” See what I had to deal with? To keep from hitting myself repeatedly in the head with my phone I took up writing.

Review – The Quantum Revelations by Stuart Heinrich @goddessfish #stuartheinrich #thequantumrevelations

THE QUANTUM REVELATIONS by Stuart Heinrich

GENRE: SciFi Mystery Thriller

I am usually pretty good at picking novels that fit my preferences. I read the first sentence of the blurb for The Quantum Physics Revelations and requested a copy. I was disappointed. It’s not what I was thinking…at all. There is a lot of science, and I mean a lot, and some religion. It was light on the apocalyptic climate crisis, but it did give me some food for thought. I was expecting more mystery and thriller.

I am trusting Stuart Heinrich when It comes to all the research he did for the novel. I don’t know how to rate the book, but I hate to penalize the writing just because I chose a book that was over my head, so I stayed in the middle. I did finish the book and at times I was into the story, curious about the ending.

So, if you are heavy into physics, looking for a novel to put a different kind of spin on science, this could be for you.

Animated Animals. Pictures, Images and Photos
3 Stars

BLURB

The world is on the brink of an apocalyptic climate crisis and quickly spiraling out of control into a dystopian nightmare. As everything collapses around them, two scientists struggle for relevance in their quest to build the world’s first practical quantum computer. They discover so much more. A mystery of physics that goes deeper than they could have ever imagined..

EXCERPT

The importance of this seemingly mundane research could not be overstated. If things were really as bad as he feared, world leaders needed to know the truth, and fast. The very future existence of mankind might depend on it.

No, it was worse than that. He laughed to himself at the sad truth, that even this seemingly over-exaggerated description failed to capture the full gravity of the importance of their mission. It was not just the future of mankind that depended on it, but the future of all life on Earth. The very habitability of the planet was at stake. Every tree, every blade of grass, every insect. The future of every living thing, from the largest blue whale down to the smallest microbe hung in the balance.

Humanity had achieved much to be proud of. But like Icarus, mankind had been too greedy, and had flown too close to the sun: pushing forward mercilessly in pursuit of uninterrupted exponential growth and consumption. Mankind had become a scourge upon the Earth.

If humanity destroyed itself, he would have no sympathy. It was the rest of the natural world that he felt sorry for. The caribou of Alaska, the tropical birds of the rainforest, the elephants of Africa, the dolphins of the sea, the giant redwoods of California, and every other unsuspecting life form on this planet. They were the true innocent victims. They had done nothing to deserve what was coming.

$25 GC – Tamanrasset by Edward Parr @goddessfish #edwardparr #tamanrasset

I am so happy to have Edward Parr on fundinmental today.

Edward Parr’s Tamanrasset: Crossroads of the Nomad

Writing about the Maghreb

When I first decided to write my novel Tamanrasset: Crossroads of the Nomad, which is inspired by the amazing body of action-adventure stories written about the French Foreign Legion set in the tumultuous early 20th century of northern Africa, I knew it would be a challenge. Algeria, which had become a French colony almost unintentionally in 1830, would erupt into a bloody decolonization war that lasted from 1954 to 1962. Morocco, which became a French protectorate in 1912 and endured a violent period of pacification, did not obtain independence until 1956. Tunisia, also a French protectorate since 1881, obtained independence following violent uprisings in 1956. Unsurprisingly, the attitude of native inhabitants towards Europeans was adversely impacted by these events, and losses on both sides left mistrust and anger.

While not all of the adventure stories written in the first half of the 20th century glorify the colonizers or demonize the native insurgents, many do. Nevertheless, taken in isolation, in the spirit they were written at the time, such stories remain entertaining despite all subsequent events. However, I could not write a new story and simply ignore what we know happened. If I was to tell a story that harkened back to the earlier time period, I would need to do so with a more contemporary understanding. The events at the turn of the 20th century were complex, multifactorial, with many vested interests wanting different things. It was not for me to judge who was good and who was bad; even if I did, readers would still come to my novel with their own biases, and I would have to let them draw their own conclusions. All I could do was present information that was (for someone who is not a professional, academic historian) basically true. This would allow readers to see and learn something they had perhaps not considered before. I decided I would intentionally not make the Europeans nor the native Arabs-Berbers-Africans-Tuareg-Etc. better or worse than they really were and rely as much as possible on actual facts.

Unfortunately for me, a great deal of the history of early 20th century northern Africa which was recorded contemporaneously was written in French, which I can minimally read, and not many of those materials are accessible online anyway. Moreover, such materials were written from the perspective of the French colonizers who were occupying Algeria and Morocco and represent the worldview of those who saw European colonization as a benefit to Africa. As for the other point of view, well, I don’t read Arabic or speak of the any native languages of northern Africa, so that information – even just finding out the names the tribes – was very difficult. And as much as I enjoyed the French Foreign Legion adventure stories, they are generally vague about regional history, even when reasonably accurate as to the experience of being a Legionnaire. In the end, I used a variety of dependable academic sources to create a chronology of major events for myself and learned more about those events that stood out to me as significant. Ultimately, I choose to focus on a specific swath of time, 1900 to 1908, basically the entire period of time that Abd al-Aziz al Alaoui was the Sultan of Morocco (and acting on his own without a Regent). Events in that time period had a clear arc in my mind and revealed interesting characters that I knew would play into the story that spoke to me from that place.

In the end, sure, I’m not a historian, and I may have oversimplified some things, but I think there’s still a lot there that’s right. And I believe it is, in a meaningful sense, true, whether that’s good or bad.

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts.

TAMANRASSET by Edward Parr

GENRE:  Historical Fiction

BLURB

TAMANRASSET is historical fiction set on the edge of the Sahara as the ancient world begins to fade and great empires collide. Four strangers—a mature Foreign Legionnaire, a Sharif’s wrathful son, an ambitious American archaeologist, and an abandoned Swedish widow—become adrift and isolated, but when their paths intersect, the fragile connections between them tell a story of survival and fate on the edge of the abyss. Blending the sweep of classic adventure with the horror of a great historical calamities, Edward Parr’s TAMANRASSET is a saga about the crossroads where nomads meet.

EXCERPT

The Sun had not yet risen above the ruins of the Mechouar Palace, but at the mosque nearby many Muslim people of the city of Tlemcen were already at their morning prayer. It was a great privilege to be admitted to one of the oldest mosques in Algeria, over eight hundred years old, and an even greater privilege to be allowed to pray before the mihrab there among the great white columns that lined the enormous hall. As the prayers ended, there was a gentle rustling of movement as the faithful rose and exited to the open and airy marble-tiled courtyard of the mosque, still quiet in the twilight of dawn. Isabel retrieved her leather boots and exited a side door beneath the shadow of the towering brick minaret. Covered by her tightly drawn dark brown burnouse, khaki pants, white shirt, and a black hijab, Isabel walked along the great stone wall to the main gate of the palace. The few buildings in the complex that were still usable had been made into offices for the French army, but the pool and gardens of the central courtyard were peaceful and shadowy. She passed an alcove that featured Islamic calligraphy carved into the stucco, and Isabel stopped to read it: “Allah is God, there is no god but He: the King.”

A quiet voice behind her asked: “Madame Pedersen?”

She turned to find a short, elegantly dressed French officer approaching her. His flat-topped white hair was soldierly, but his crisp, tailored uniform, polished boots, and wide waxed mustache displayed a carefully composed appearance.

“Peace be with you,” she said, casting her eyes downward and crossing her arm over her chest as she nodded.

“Peace be with you, Madame. I apologize if I disturbed you; will you come inside?”

“As you wish.”

She followed the French colonel to a charming wood-paneled room overlooking an orchard of citrus trees bearing large green fruit. The colonel sat on a bare wood chair beside a wide wooden table, crossed his legs, and twirled the end of his wide mustache. Isabel stood silently before him in a respectful posture.

“I have the greatest respect for your beliefs, my dear, but it would be helpful to me if you would sit and speak to me informally. Would you be so kind?”

“Of course,” she said and she sat on the chair beside his. Her demeanor now expressed more of her experience and self-assurance, her hijab more a symbol of her confidence than of her humility. The colonel raised an eyebrow in appreciation of her serene face and brilliant blue eyes.

$25 GC & Review – Age Of Magic by Tim Vee @goddessfish @_Tim_Vee_ #ageofmagic

AGE OF MAGIC by Tim Vee

GENRE:  dark fantasy

I have been reading Tim Vee’s novels for some time now. His novels are fresh and original. I never know what to expect and have always been surprised. Age Of Magic is a dark fantasy that travels through time. I quickly became enamored with Zola and Selene and their story.

The action and adventure kept me engrossed in Tim Vee’s magical story. The writing kept the pacing and suspense operating at a high level. He brought the characters to life and their world was created in vivid detail. I loved all the secrets, magic, pirates and deadly beasts. He created many questions, as we traveled through time to reach the end. I had a feeling about the conclusion and I loved it.

My thanks go out to Tim Vee for the opportunity to read another one of his fantastic stories.

Animated Animals. Pictures, Images and Photos
4 Stars

BLURB

A young peasant woman’s mundane existence is upended by a mysterious traveller, thrusting her into a perilous world of secret family ties, dark magic, deadly beasts, intrigue, pirates, and thrilling adventure—where light and dark forces clash in a battle for power and revenge.

Age of Magic is a dark fantasy story with a timeless fairytale vibe, set in a grounded but magical world.

EXCERPT

There was movement in the shadows—the sound of a sandal on the dry red bricks. Zola froze, seeing ahead of him a weasely-looking man holding a butcher’s blade stepping into a pool of light. Selene gasped, covering her mouth. Zola’s head snapped to his right, where he saw another man step into a pool of light behind them, holding a rusty meat cleaver.

“Becalm yourself, m’lady,” whispered Zola, releasing her hand and stepping from the shadows into the light.

“Mayhaps I can help you lads with something?” he said confidently, as he turned in a circle and regarded them.

Two more men stepped from the shadows, a new one on either side carrying a wooden club.

“Coin!” hissed the man holding the knife that he jabbed forward menacingly.

“Coin and girl!” said the man with the cleaver. The others laughed darkly and inched forward.

Zola turned to the man with the cleaver. “Mayhaps I would have tossed you a pouch of coppers and silver, to send you scurrying away to your filthy taverns and your filthy wenches, without the need for blood to be spilt.” He pulled back his coat, exposing the bejewelled hilt of his cutlass. “But alas, for you, the girl will be staying with me!”

“Four us, one you!” said the man with the cleaver, chuckling.

“I’ll gladly take those odds…” said Zola grimly, his gold tooth glinting in the moonlight as he drew his bejewelled cutlass.

$25 GC – Accidental Paradise by Eric Grandy @goddessfish #ericgrandy #accidentalparadise

I am always curious how an author choses their cover. I find the cover for Accidental Paradise by Eric Grandy simple yet intriguing. I invited Eric to share his thoughts.

What you love about the cover and why it fits the book.

The cover for “Accidental Paradise” is much like the plot, both simple and complex. What starts out as an innocent search for the idyllic vacation spot for my protagonist, movie star LaVern Whitaker, evolves into a fight for survival for her and her adopted small town. The images in the lenses, the Hollywood sign and the country house, are the essential elements that connect her to both.

The image is of a young and attractive Black woman, and the unsmiling, partially obscured face lends a touch of mystery. Is it LaVern or is it a stock photo? The reader gets to decide. It also looks misleadingly innocent, like she isn’t the determined protector she turns out to be. The eye-catching cover demands your attention, much like movie idol LaVern when she’s out in public. The sunglasses are symbolic of LaVern’s initial attempts to hide her true identity.

ACCIDENTAL PARADISE by Eric Grandy

GENRE: Coming of Age

BLURB

Natural talent, hard work, and a childhood friend help LaVern Whitaker find her calling as an actress.  When her life becomes overwhelming, they discover a small town where her true identity can remain unknown and she can stay out of the spotlight.  The more she visits her secret getaway, the more deeply she feels connected to the history, the lifestyle, and the people.  Could this place be her home away from home, or become the home she has dreamed of?  Or will sinister forces rip it all away?

EXCERPT

“Make me a promise, Shaundra. Promise me we will always be best friends.”

“I promise, Peaches.”

LaVern stood up and said she had better head back. “Are you coming over tomorrow?”

“Hell yeah.”

Both girls had a hardy laugh at that one.

As Freeman and Jackie watched their daughter recross the street, they noticed a more delighted and relieved child than the one who left a few minutes earlier.

The girls resumed their old routine of talking and gossiping in LaVern’s bedroom. Shaundra asked more questions about her new school; how did she like going to school with White kids? Did she hang out with the other Black students? How was she treated? LaVern did her best to answer; No, she wasn’t completely accepted by everyone, she wasn’t friends with all the Black kids, she still felt very self-conscious being one of a few Black students in an all-White school, sometimes she felt very alone but she had made a few friends.

“My daddy said it would take a little while, that I would get used to it. He said I would get a better education.”

“Well, you’re already smart Peaches. You’ll be smart no matter what school you go to.”

“Well, it is harder than 139, but I’m doing OK.

“I know you, Peaches. If you say you doing OK, I know you killin’ it.”

LaVern looked down at her feet. “Well, I’m doing alright.”

But the Big Dog was right. She was killing it.

GC & Review – Above The Clouds by Tim Vee @_Tim_Vee_ @goddessfish #abovetheclouds

ABOVE THE CLOUDS by Tim Vee

GENRE:  post-apocalypse, dystopian, sci-fi, horror

Tim Vee writes some interesting stories, and Above The Clouds had me intrigued. This unique apocalyptic/dystopian novel takes place deep underground, in long unused subway tunnels and sewers. No one knows what came before .

Everyone has their duties to perform, whether it’s raising the young, hunt or work to provide necessities. When their usefulness comes to and end, whether through injury or old age, they are sent to the surface to fend for themselves.

Dara and her sister, Squirt, are the main characters in Above The Clouds. Squirt is still young enough that she helps where she can and not much is expected of her. Dara is a hunter. She is expected to bring back from the hunt a dozen rats or three cats or a dog.

The world Tim Vee has created is bleak and dangerous. It is a world I haven’t visited before and I have read many apocalyptic and dystopian fiction novels. We go from the depths of the earth to the clouds in the sky, where Squirt will find a life she could never have envisioned. I like the twist from dark to light, from despair to hope. I was suitably creeped out and that is always a good thing. LOL

BLURB

n a ruined, distant future of our world, filled with rain, gloom, and danger, Squirt and her sister Dara fight to survive as part of the underground clan, hunting meat to survive and clinging to the edges of existence.

When Squirt encounters a mysterious figure above ground, her life is upended. Taken to a gleaming paradise above the clouds, she finds herself trapped in an idyllic prison, where everything seems perfect—but is danger hiding in plain sight? Does Charlotte, her enigmatic and gentle companion, hide secrets behind her perfect smile? Does Mrs Wallis, the tower’s cold matriarch, watch Squirt with a predator’s patience?

Below, Dara hunts alone, trying to find meaning in her life and haunted by her sister’s disappearance while whispers of betrayal within the clan force her to choose between being a victim or fighting for her survival.

As the sisters’ paths converge, truths are exposed: immortality comes at a terrible price, and the ones they’ve trusted most may be their greatest enemies. Above the Clouds is a haunting tale of the fight for survival and identity, asking the question: What does it truly mean to be human?

EXCERPT

She made it to the side of the ruins, ducked under a concrete slab, and crouched silently, listening and watching the darkness. She allowed her ears and eyes to acclimate to the noises and darkness of the ruins, the dripping water, the scurrying of a rat, the rattle of a falling piece of rock, and the sounds men made.

She sniffed and smelled something. Something cooking.

Rat! she thought.

Moving slowly and cautiously, she crept out from her hiding place, not making a sound. She climbed onto a slab of concrete laying diagonally and crawled upward until she was looking down at where Chagga sat on a rock, roasting a pair of skinned rats above a fire. Adam was standing, shaking and banging the water off his furs. Chagga was speaking.

“…Tomorra, when the hunters head out, make sure our men are on guard at the big tube that comes in by the butcher…”

Hidden in the shadows above, Dara silently slipped her quiver from her shoulder.

“…That is where we attack…Once we have taken control, all those who have no faith will be butchered, and we will call Major Tom, and he will pick up, and he will send the riders, and we leave for Marbro Country!”

She rolled onto her back and slid two arrows from the quiver.

“Can you trust this bandit, Barg, father?” said Adam.

Gently, she laid one of the arrows on the concrete, and the other she notched.

“No,” said Chagga firmly. “But I need them to do in the guards while you kill the chief.”

She rolled, holding the bow with her left hand, pulling the bowstring back.

Kill Adam, and the others won’t know the plan? she thought. Or kill Chagga, and there is no plan?

She closed her left eye, pulling the string tighter.

EXCERPT

“Jake, I came by to see you because of the Buckhead crisis.”

“I figured as much.”

Rachel could’ve sworn he looked disappointed for a fleeting moment. That gave her the courage to go on. “To offer my shoulder—”

“To cry on?” he sneered.

“No! To lean on. Please don’t be ugly.”

“I can’t help it. You broke us up.”

Incredulous, she gaped at him. “Me! Must I keep reminding you? You left me.”

He closed the distance between them, so close she could feel his body heat.

“You let me leave,” he said gruffly.

“I didn’t—”

“You let me leave,” he repeated, his face but inches away.

His unique Jake scent wafted over her. She wanted to smother in it. She wanted . . .

“I didn’t want you to go,” she whispered.

He caught her to him in a fierce embrace. No gentle kiss this. It screamed of need and anger and desperation. His. Hers. She didn’t know for sure. Didn’t care. She wanted to cry from the relief of having his arms around her again.

Knuckling her fists into his warm tee shirt, she tried to yank him closer, but the shirt was old and stretched unmercifully. His lips smiled against hers as he grabbed a breath and then kissed her again, his tongue sweeping in to tangle with hers.

She could die from his wonderful familiar taste. She savored, remembered, and stored for later. Giving up on the shirt, she wound her arms around his neck to tug him closer, to pull him into her if she could.

Suddenly, his hands at her hips pressed her back, and she shamelessly hung on tighter. He reached up and worked her hands free, then kissed each one.

His eyes had gone black. This close, she could clearly see. No doubt a reflection of hers.

“Like coming home, isn’t it?” he rasped, his voice so hoarse it came out as a whisper.

$20 GC & Review – A New Life by L J Ambrosio @authorlambrosio @GoddessFish

A NEW LIFE L.J. Ambrosio

GENRE:  Coming-of-Age

I have been reading the Reflections Of Michael Trilogy by L J Ambrosio since I got my hands on the first book, A Reservoir Man. The series is thought provoking, leaving me thinking of the things L J Ambrosio shared long after the books have been read.

If you love character driven books, this series is for you. L J Ambrosio explores humanity, the feelings of friendship, love, grief and loss, hate and prejudice.

A New Life may be a quick read, but it was filled with emotion. The ugliness of politics and homophobia play a part in Louie’s life. I had a thought of what was to come for him, but I was still caught off guard when it happened.

My thanks go out to Goddess Fish Promotions and L J Ambrosio for the opportunity to read and review A New Life.

BLURB

From America to the streets of Paris, A New Life follows two friends as they navigate grief, love, and self-discovery in a city filled with history and hope.

A New Life is a story that lingers long after the last page

EXCERPT

They spent the rest of the trip talking about Rhonda and how great she was, from the fight where she tried to protect Ron to the National Cemetery where she was left behind by accident at dusk, not found until midnight.

Louie started crying, and Ron comforted him, assuring him that the pain was fine; he needed to accept it.

“Rhonda was so smart,” Louie said proudly. “Some people don’t know the relationship between an owner and their pet. It is so special, so unconditional. Rhonda will always be a part of me. It was nice to bury her here in America, her home country.”

A while later, Ron and Louie arrived at their motel. Ron said to him, “Let’s get the luggage and go to bed. Hey, I was thinking when we get back to Paris, you should move in me with me and stop sleeping in the bookstore.”

Louie could not believe what he heard. Sharing more time with Ron would be special; he was excited to have that time together.

Louie and Ron had a chuckle over how Rhonda refused to walk on the sidewalks in Paris because of all the cigarette butts on the ground; she had to be pushed around in a baby carriage, because she did not want to burn her paws.
